January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

So excited! Our first Disney trip is a week from tomorrow! Any advice for our first trip?? 3 kids--ages 7, 4, and almost 2, plus we're traveling with my best friend and her family (2 more kids ages 6 and 2). :lovestruc

you would be right - just be sure to take all that off when you're posing for a nice photopass picture...The photographers are very accomodating for this :goodvibes. The one told us to leave all our "stuff" under his tripod, mde for a much nicer picture and kept it out of the way

Oh that is good to know! I love how "casual conversations" here on the Dis can really clue me in to things that will really matter to me next week when we're down there! :thumbsup2

One more week and we'll be on the road (my ticker is wrong - we're leaving a day early!!).

:dance3:

First trip? Wow!!! :woohoo:

You can't pack it all in, even with a week. Everyone should talk about what their "must do's" in each park will be so that you can prioritize. The little ones might not totally know what they want to do, though. Taking it "low and slow" is a must or you'll drive yourself crazy trying to do too much!

Have a fantastic trip! :wizard:

Is it true you can take the TTC bus from DHS and walk from TTC to the Poly???

Yes, that is correct, and what a beautiful walk it is! We always stay in Tokelau, right in the middle, so it's not a long walk. In case you didn't know, it's also faster to walk from the Poly to TTC for the Epcot Monorail, rather than take the Resort Monorail all the way around with 3 stops, to then get off and switch to the Epcot Monorail.

15 days!

We leave TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:banana::banana: :cool1: :cloud9:

I stayed up until 11:30 last night and got *most* of my list crossed off!!! Everyone is packed except for me

We got another 5-6 inches her overnight. Looks like most of the streets and everything major got cleared so I am hoping it isn't too bad to get out and finish my errands.

I need to check the parades again and maybe change my nights around since tomorrow night is supposed to be in the 20s or so :scared1:

Hoping those of you leaving today and tomorrow have a wonderful safe trip.

I was packing last night trying to get most of it done. Still will need to pack last minutes stuff but looking pretty good right now.

You're in Chicago, right?

The suburbs (at least where I am) are clear. I did hear ORD has a ground-stop this morning, but--phew--that won't affect you. Doesn't effect departures today either, as long as you have a plane to board. But my guess is after they clear the runways, the ground stop will lift--30-60 minutes. That's not TOO bad. And they'll be fine by tomorrow.

But running errands today won't be too bad. And most everyone is in school (that always helps).

Good luck!

Yep in the NW burbs of Chicago...I just saw the plow go down our side street so that must mean that the major streets are clear.

Waiting for 8:35am to check in online....then off to the mall for some shopping, ballet, gymnastics and final packing!!!!

Still so much to do and less than 48 hours to go!!!

- need to finish laundry (last load in the dryer!)
- finish packing DS...clothes in the laundry
- buy more clothes for myself :rotfl: I only have dress/work clothes or sweats, need something in between. I don't think one pair of jeans will cut it for 7 days!
- make sure DH packs for himself :sad2:
- pack our carryon with extra clothes etc
- get together all the odds and ends
- run 1 million errands tomorrow in the snow
- online check-in on Southwest

Take a breath and relax!!! We will be there in 2 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![\QUOTE]

C&O - my list is the same, with the addition of packing for 3 kids, 1 spouse, self, and drop dog off at sitter. still gotta go to work and get it situated for my absence next week. run to bank, get $$ and small bills, empty kids disney accounts, yadda, yadda. is there good luggage at Target?
T-minus 21 hours to go!! Who needs sleep?!?!
Its all good I am FINALLY going to DISNEY!

Anyone know if they sell childrens fanny packs and/or crocs at WDW?? (I dont even care about the price anymore. that is a really bad sign of stress.)

(felt good to get a list written!)

Crocs--yes. They may have Mickey heads (at least the ones I have). I've never bought them myself, but had them bought for us. I know last time, MIL had to go to gift shop at YC. I think Crocs are standard price, but I could be wrong.

Have fun!

I'm actually fairly certain they sell children's fanny packs too. At least they did in April...our daughter really likes to hold stuff in a purse/bag (napkins, forks, pencils, ANYTHING), and I remember finding some Minnie pouches. They were too big for her at the time though. Good luck :goodvibes

thank you Stinkerbellsmom!! :thumbsup2:goodvibes::woohoo:Feeling better by the minute. i am gonna put some clothes in a bag and I AM GOING ON A DISNEY VACATION FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 20+ years. I am just a little excited and am probably annoying people, so i am logging off now.
Thanks everyone!!!:hippie:

My daughter too! Anything she can put in a purse - napkins, paper cups, receipts. She is too funny! Glad to hear that my daughter is not the only "bag lady" LOL :)

Hurray!! We leave 1/17-1/22. Sitting here watching the snow come down and can't wait for CBR & WL. Hope for 75 degrees & sunny that week. Determined to use the pools anyway--packed and ready. See you then!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

Glad we are in the same boat!!!!!

To everyone leaving soon, have a great time and don't forget to report back on the trip!

We leave on the 21st - less than two weeks away!!! I'm so excited. :cheer2:It's my kids' first Disney trip and we will be celebrating both of their b-days there! We got our Mickey Mail a few days ago and everything looks great.

I'm still stumped about what to pack. We will be there for 7 days then we're renting a car to drive to my MIL's for 3 additional days. I keep hearing how cold it is in Orlando right now. There are four of us to pack for, and I don't want to bring too much. Any suggestions? We will be staying at the Poly, so it's convenient to change if need be.
Thanks!
Amanda

Almost time! Staying at Disney's Pop Century Resort from January 19th-25th!

We've got reservations for Chef Mickey's Breakfast (01/20), Tony's Town Square (01/20), Trail's End Buffet (01/21), and San Angel Inn (01/22).

So far, Accuweather.com's 15-Day forecast says:

January 19th 61/38
January 20th 60/43
January 21st 64/47
January 22nd 71/55

I hope they adjust it and it will actually get a bit warmer then!

I checked the weather for next week on weather.com and as of the 14th it's going back up into the 70's. YAY!! I will keep watching it though.
First off, I am SO glad to hear that other women on here pack for the DH's. My DBf always wants me to and I refuse. His mother used to do it for him (he's 38, we've lived together for 4 yrs). I sort of packed for him a couple of weeks ago for a weekend trip and forgot to pack casual wear shirts so all he had was a sweater for the weekend! LOL! I didnt' do it on purpose but hopefully he won't ask me again! LOL!
I plan on getting all my stuff done this weekend. Since I am leaving on Thurs. after work (I am a teacher), it will be too hectic during the week to finish stuff. I plan to be 90% packed on Sunday night. Just need to print off my itinerary stuff, put my little binder together, and I think we're good to go. I've already done the online check in at the hotel. No snow in our forecast for next week so I should be okay!!
