January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

Remmy - so nice to see you again and going in January too! We're returning as well - and it is a year of firsts for us. First time at AKL, First tme just me and DD going and alot of new restaurants to try! :yay:

Sounds like you had powerful message to count your blessings and book this trip. POFQ looks like alot of fun, esp after the Princess and the Frog...

Thank you for the welcome. :goodvibes I am very excited to see many of the same snowbirds from last year have the good fortune to return to Disney again.

I hope you and your DD enjoy your time at AKL. We went last trip to Boma and loved that resort, so many interesting items to look at. I wished we had time that trip to go and view the animals. It sounds like you have much fun planned.

Hi Remmy!! Wow, sounds like fun! We have stayed at POR and enjoyed that boat to DTD too! I went a few weeks ago so technically I don't belong on this thread, but I like to keep up with some former 2009 Snowbirds. I'll be doing a TR (hopefully starting tonight!). You should come check out the snowbirds thread on the community page too.

I am looking forward to reading your trip report. popcorn::

I actually stumbled on this page from the trip report Mamma Snowbird did about her recent adventure in November at POR. I loved the story about the frog. I wanted to show her pictures from the trip report to DH and did a search for her posts and up popped this one. Now I know where to find this one and the old one from what you have posted above. Thank you.:goodvibes

It is nice to be among known and new friends. The last Snowbird 2009 thread was very friendly and I thought it was a wonderful group of people. I look forward to planning with the Snowbirds of 2010 and DISing with friends from 2009.

If any of you are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort in 2010, please come join our 2010 CBR Countdown thread. The link is in my signature below. Who knows...some of us may see each other.

So I just received a letter in the mail stating that the big theme pool at Coronado Springs Resort is being refurbished from Jan. 11th until begining of February. We are staying at Coronado in January and one reason for choosing the hotel is because I really like their themed pool area and thought my son would love it as well. The letter said the smaller pools in the resort will be open or we can use the theme pool with the slide at the Carribbean Beach resort, but who wants to drive somewhere to use a pool. Kind of bummed, but it is what it is. Hopefully the playground area will still be open. My husband is going to call to find out. Not too long now before we will be on our way. Can't wait. Getting extremely excited!!!

:scared1:11 days left for us!!! The weather is looking a bit cold.I see some upper 30's at night..yikes..but I guess it is really too early to tell. I'll just keep checking but it looks like we will need hats and gloves..who cares we'll be in disney:thumbsup2 I haven't started packing yet..figure I'll wait til about 5 days before.

Arrrrrr! 20 days and counting. I still have so much to do. I don't know if I should be hoping the time flies by or if I could just squeeze a few extra hour in to get things done.:scared1:

I did not receive this letter and we are arriving Jan 16th. When did they decide this. I even checked the refurbishment listings.

Hi All!! I just came across this thread and have to admit that I haven't read it all the way through!! Don't think I can handle readying all 150 pages of it, but it is tempting!! :rotfl2:

We are going from 1/24-1/28 and staying at POR! I am SO tempted to switch our hotel, but the only other option right now is the CBR. Should I make the switch? I started a thread about switching to CSR, but they don't have any more rooms under the pin I am using so that's out and the post above me says that the pool is being refurbished anyway...so that's out!!

One question which someone may have already answered...UG is listing 1/25 as a 7 as far as crowds in MK!! Why is that? Is there a cruise ship coming in or out that would cause the parks to be that crowded in late January? Or maybe a typo?

This is what I have so far:
24th - AK dinner at Boma
25th - Epcot - dinner at either San Angel or Tappon Edo (haven't decided which yet)
26th - MK dinner at O'Hana
27th - MK breakfast at Chef Mickey's
28th - DHS and just CS because we are leaving on the ME around 4:30p.

Looking forward to reading everyone's plans! :cool1:

Did you get adult tickets at that price? We just bought our tickets through Disney! Should I cancel the tickets & purchase through this program? Or do you have to attend one of these programs? I have never heard of it before!
Thanks,
Robyn

Tickets are for adults and youth (they all say youth on the back because they are purchased through the Youth Programs) If you can get refunds for tickets I would because the tickets through this program are around half off. The tickets include the cost of one YES class. Our tickets are printed valid 1/12/10- 2/05/10. I purchased through the Homeschool Program but everything for open enrollment seems the same except for they have additional classes available the week before as well.

This thread has a lot of info about the tickets or feel free to ask me.

Wow!! That is amazing! We are also on the DDP though. I can probably get a refund for the tickets, but then would have to be off of the DDP. I wonder if that would be worth it....I need to do some research to see if the DDP is worth it considering we would be saving SO MUCH on the tickets!! HMMMM....

Only few more days and someof you will begin your magical vacations!
I still have alot to do!
The surprise trip for DD was a hit for Christmas, she is so excited and already making her lists! :thumbsup2

In just over 3 hours I can start the single digit dance! YIPPEE. I'm going to call tomorrow and add the QSDP and get checked in online! I gave my grandson some of his new Disney clothes and pjs tonight so his mom can get them packed. He was pretty excited! So much to do! But I love doing it.

And for those of you that agree to make the most of your lives and enjoy your time with your families at WDW...GO FOR IT. We lost our 33 year old nephew this weekend and it sure brings home how important special times with your family are. So lets all hit WDW in January and enjoy every minute of it!

How far in advance will they let you know if the class is not full? Say I buy the tickets for the program, and the class doesn't fill up, how soon will they let me know and would I receive a refund so that I can buy regular park tickets? My daughter did this one year with her cheer group, it was the how things move class, it started before the park opened and they got to get on serveral rides. It was fun!

Park tickets are good even if you do not attend any classes. But from the sound of things classes are filling up.

We have 10 day park hoppers. We are only signed up for one class. A homeschool class at Magic Kingdom- "Engineering the Magic". (description from Disney YES website) "Science rocks in this one hour interactive presentation hosted by Disney Engineers. Everyday, this incredible team uses science to create the world famous attractions and tell the stories that transport Walt Disney World Park and Resort Guests into some really exciting places. Engineering the Magic is food for your brain as you discover the scientific principles that put the thrills, chills, and fun into the most magical place on earth. Jump on board and discover the engineer in you!"

Does that sound cool or what?
