January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

I am getting so anxious about booking my ADRs. We are trying to get a lot of tough places for a group of 9. Plus since most of the group is only with us for 4 days we don't have much flexibility. Ahhhh!! I want my reservation day to be here already so I can at least know what we have for sure. Everyone is relying on me.

I had to book for a group of 12 for December and it was so stressful! I ended up calling about 1/2 hour after they opened (overslept!) and got some decent ones. Not LeCellier or Tony's (Which Totally surprised me!). I also did some on line and split our group into two reservations. You might try that, since you can do on line earlier. We only had four days too!

I wish you luck!!pixiedust:pixiedust:

I recently reserved Tusker House (AK) and Cape May (BC)(2nd time and it was great if you're staying in the area) for character breakfasts. Chef Mickey's didn't get great reviews for the food, but my kids are 75% into the food and 25% into the characters at the age of 19 &22! You have little ones so characters are more important then the food. I would search for recent reviews on both. By the way just added on to my dining ressies online and again had no problem retrieving and adding on, just thought I throw that out there! Good luck in whatever you do!

Thanks for adding me Monn2y2AE, we're going to be there from Jan26-Feb3. (can't wait!)

I just found out yesterday (I should have known but my math was off) talking to my TA that we're in the VERY unlucky position with ADR's of just catching the beginning of the 180day window (two days before our 90 day window opens :headache:) With a gathering of 11 coupled with the whole new onslaught of ressie-makers I think we might be totally...um, how should I say???..."in a dumb situation" I'm sure it'll be fine but my birthday is right in the middle of our trip and I'm really hoping to get a good ressie that day... I was hoping for Le Cellier but I DON'T have high hopes...:sad2:

I'm sure you know already that ADR's ressies online starts operating at 3:00 a.m (EST). I even go in 2 minutes before. Go to dining reservation, retrieve resort ressie, then went to restaurant that I wanted the most, which happen to be on a Fri night. Set yourself up before 3:00 am, so you're already on most imporant restaurant and date. So I basically worked backwards believing that Fri night at Le Cellier would have been the hardest ressie to get. Just make sure you have everything written out ahead of time and be prepared to alter times, nights, or restaurant choices during your vacation period. It was alot easier they I anticipated and took about 15 - 20 mins. then confirmation email came back within 1/2 hr. Good luck!

And while the 180 day opening may make it difficult to get through, it's not to say everyone is making ressies for the same time you are there. They are making them for 4, 5 & 6 months away also. You might have better luck than you think.

I think that's why we all feel so stressed having only this 90 day window. More people have already planned their trips.

But not to minimize your worrying---GOOD LUCK!!!!

Here are my ADR's. I've only ever been to California Grill before everything else will be new for us.

Jan 5 Boma
Jan 6 Le Cellier
Jan 7 California Grill
Jan 8 Brown Derby (lunch)
Jan 9 Jiko
Jan 10 The Wave
Jan 11 Biergarten

My partner is anti-beirgarten, but I have been wanting to eat there for a long time and always missed out. Is it worth it or should we do something else?

J S

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Biergarten! I'm not a sausage/shnitzle kind of girl, but there are so many other wonderful things there, I could live on the tomato salad and desserts alone! Plus it's a fun atmosphere. We do it every trip!

I agree, the whole family loves this restaurant because it gives all of them choices, DH and myself love German food and DD & DS not so much. But we all agree we love the music and atmosphere also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With regard to Biergarten.....is it possible to go in and hear the oom pah band, but not have a meal? Or could we possibly just go in and enjoy a beverage and snack? Just wondering. Thanks for the info.

We are at 99 days today!! Yippee!

got a few more DxDDP + 20 lbs is my gift to myself :rotfl:
January 11 The Plaza (desperately trying to change that to Liberty Tree Tavern) 12:05

The last 2 trips we were part of a grand gathering and it's tough work being the one to plan it for everyone. Talk about responsibility! Take a deep breath and hang in there!

No problem- Glad you joined us! Good luck- maybe try for the one you want the most (like your bday dinner) first and then book the rest. I think you'll be fine getting them- most people calling on the 27th are booking further out.

We'll be there at the Poly Jan 23-30! We just decided to go this past week so I'm scrambling to get my ADR's together - luckily we can make them on the 25th, just missing when they go back to 180.

I'm considering Biergarten - I hear so much about that place (all good) but we are not very adventurous eaters....it sounds like so much fun though and we already have some repeat ressies on the list, I would like to have SOME new places to try!

Does it have available times posted and then we pick one? Do the times fall on the quarter hour? I think I might have better luck asking for 11:15 and 4:15, than 11:30 and 4:30, but I'll try for whatever I can get.

Thanks guys for the advice and reassurance! I'll breathe so much easier once the ADR's are done!

I do plan on trying at 3am online (and trying for my bday first!) but I've heard so many reports of bad experiences (trouble getting it to work) that I'm having a hard time counting on it at all...I'll call at 6am if I must!

It will only give you available time if it's around the hour or so you originally put on, if you want to try earlier or later just hit "modify" i think it's upper right hand corner. Then it goes back to originally page and you can try another time. Go online now and full around with it don't put ressie number in (it wouldn't recognize it now anyway). Just mess with it so you get familiar on how the site works

Just wanted to jump in on the thread a little late. DH and I will be at POP from January 4th-11th!

Our ADRS

4th 4:00pm 50's PTC
5th 7:15pm Ohana
6th 7:35pm Tusker House
7th 12:40 San Angel Inn
8th 5:35pm Le Cellier
9th 6pm Kouzinna
10th 10:45am 1900 PF

Is there a place for kids to dance a little bit to the band? DD will put on quite a show, if there is (and DH and I might get to enjoy a few minutes alone).

Just curious. This is on my list because we always use the "it's too hot for German food" excuse when we go other times of the year.

count us in...

Dh, myself and our 2 year old son will be at POP 1/22-1/31. It is our little one's first trip to the world. Dh and I stayed there in 1/2006. Getting so excited now that it is all coming together!!

I just booked a trip for January!!!!:banana: I also have a trip booked for June 2010 to celebrate my daughter graduation. With the 4/3 deal for January and the pin code I just received for June, I can get two trips for almost the price of one.

I can't believe I went from seeing Mickey in 8 months to seeing him in 3 months. I'm about to bust!

Thanks for the Biergarten feedback. I am keeping it on the list.

I am curious about nightlife...someplace to go for a drink and maybe some light entertainment. Are there bands playing at night, I think I heard you could catch some jazz at POFQ. Any Karaoke?

Just checking in on all of my old snowbird friends! Lots of new faces joining in on the January fun! I'm bummed because our trip-that-wasn't-meant-to-be would be coming up soon. I priced the trip just a minute ago and could have gotten a great deal at the Poly for 7 nights with the 4/3 deal.

Hope you are all getting your plans in order. ADR's are set, I'm sure!

Pregnancy is still doing well. Bed rest is no more, thankfully. I've been up and around the last couple of weeks and it has made life much better. I'm just past the 35 week mark and am looking forward to meeting our baby boy on November 12th!

Can't wait to start planning our Disney trip for 2011!
