January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

Thanks. So it seems like August is the magical time to be able to book anything. If a promo comes out in November do they apply it to your reservation or do you have to redo it? I dread the new dining system too, but some of the summer PTR's I've been following have not had any trouble getting what they need so maybe it won't be too bad. :confused3

Here's hoping for some cheap airfare and a great January promo code!! :goodvibes

If you already have a ressie made and then a promo/deal comes out you can call and have it applied to your existing ressie *IF* there is availability at your resort of choice with the promo/deal. Apparently they only allot so many deals per resort. . .

When do the Jan promo's usually come out?

Last year it was November.

Hey Birds!
I talked to my friend who's doing Disney with us next year, and when I asked her where she wanted to stay, she figured that them getting two Value rooms would be the best option over the ASMu suite and POR (she's a family of 5). She also said it was up to me which value, because "We're just along for the ride." YIPPEE!! I'm excited because Pop is where I wanted to stay initially but figured we'd have to change since they're going. I also pondered ASMo, but alot of the info I'm getting on the other boards is that it's getting run-down looking. Anyone been there lately to confirm or deny??

Also, it "connecting" or "adjoining" that get the room with the door in the middle?

Hi All!-
First time using the Boards. I haven't been to Disney in 13 years and my husband hasn't been in 25! We are taking our son for his 2nd birthday. Our trip is Jan 8-17th. Yeah I know he's a little young, but I can't wait!!!

WELCOME to the DIS and to the January Snowbird group!! :cool1:

Wow sounds like you are in for a wonderful trip!! Where are you staying? Or are you like many of us and can't make up your mind??? :rotfl:

Hmm. . . that connecting/adjoining thing is confusing. . . but I am thinking that the connecting rooms have the connecting door between them.

If we would end up going value ASMo would be our first choice for theming, but yes I have heard that it is in need of some updating/refurbishing.

You are never to young for Disney! :)

We went for our 1st trip last Sept and our son was just over two and he had a wonderful time. He's always been a challenging, high-spirited child so we were worried how he would be but Disney sure worked its magic on him! My husband and I like to joke how he has never been as well behaved in his life as he was at Disney! LOL

I agree! Welcome to the party! (yes I know I'm going in December, but I was a 2009 January snowbird, so I'm tagging along with my friends!)
My kids were 11 mos. and almost 3 when they went for the first time. Even though they don't remember (the 3 yr old did a little), it was so fun and magical seeing the excitement on their faces! The baby did not like the "non-face" characters getting too close to her. Lots of great pictures and memories! It set the stage for the next few trips. Now they will be going on their 5th trip!

You will have a blast! This is a great place to get ideas and information and help planning!

I, of course, have not decided where to stay yet. It's really eating at me because I'm such a planner! We initially were thinking of staying at ASMu because of the family suite. I've been reading how small the rooms are and while I know I won't be spending that much time there, I do want to be able to move around while I am in the room. Plus my sister is coming with us and I really don't want to sleep in a double bed with my husband!!:confused3
SO I've been looking at the FWCabins, and I've always wanted to stay at the Contemporary. The Cabins have a great set up for us and is relatively inexpensive (we will be using a AAA discount so if anyone has a general idea of what that might be it would be helpful) The Contemporary also has a room that would work for us with Queen beds and a trundle not too expensive either. If I had to pick of COURSE I'd go deluxe, but any input from you seasoned snowbirds would be helpful! I really want someone to tell me that if money wasn't an object (within reason of course) based on all the pros and cons where would they stay??? I'd be ever so grateful:love:

Not to rub it in, but

I AM UNDER 6 MONTHS UNTIL MY TRIP!!!

:yay::cheer2::banana:

Ok, so maybe I do mean to rub it in a little bit, but

I LEAVE FOR WDW IN 13 DAYS!!!!
:cool1::banana::yay::dance3::cheer2:party:

I too was a January Snowbird and I can't bear to leave everyone!! :sad1: Who knows, maybe I can squeeze out another Jan trip. That would be amazing!

It is such a hard decision, I know!!

Of the choices you mentioned I would go with the Contemporary. But that's just me! I think the ASMu suites are supposed to be quite roomy actually - I think they are like the size of 2 rooms, aren't they? I really don't know much about the FW Cabins. . . For us the moderates are a good fit. Just right on what we need and on the budget! But we would need more space if we had an extra adult coming with us like you do.

I'm sure you'll figure it out! Like I said, I am just going to wait so long that I may just have to take what's left!

Add us to your ever growing list.

We are headed down Jan 22-Jan 30. It will be our 1st trip as DVC Members :cool1:. Staying at AKV Kidani Village, 2 bedroom Villa with Savannah View. :banana:

My friend just booked the WL Cabins. She is super excited. They sound really nice and the WL is a beautiful resort that has tons of stuff to do for the kids.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! :goodvibes

Thanks, you too. It's not too bad. This morning was a little rocky, but nothing that a venti Mocha frap with a shot of caramel couldn't fix. Tonight my DH actually didn't log onto World of Warcraft and took the boys and I to a movie and then out to eat. The boys wanted to see Night at the Musuem instead of Terminator. DH and I already saw the Terminator movie, but I will never miss a chance to sit and watch Christian Bale. Then after the movie we went to Salt Grass Steakhouse. Even with sharing part of my 12 ounce steak with the boys, I still was able to bring some home. I always bring some home b/c it is too much to eat, but feel strange ordering off the kids menu. I just order it medium rare so when I heat it up it isn't over cooked. Then DH wanted something sweet, so we stopped by the grocery store. He wanted a couple of pints of Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream, and I got a pineapple, strawberries and two "personal" seedless watermelons. The watermelons are so cute!! A basketball is probably bigger than they are.

We had an awesome evening last night! Just us, we grilled some burgers and porksteaks, sat at on the patio, us with Miller Lite and the boys with Root Beer in their personalized Disney glass mugs (frozen mugs of course!). It was a gorgeous evening then we came in and watched Harper's Island while the boys watched Disney channel in our room! Very relaxing!

I did have a panic moment yesterday. Hubby's been telling me I should write a book on planning a Disney trip, so since its the frist trip for our friends (who are going with us in January) I thought it would be fun to make a very condensed, very general "guide." I had it pretty much the way I wanted (10 pages, single spaced :)) and was going to email it last night...well our computer messed up and wouldn't get out of the "loading" mode, and when it finally did after several tries, it turned on like a new computer, with NOTHING on it!! After a few hours of work, hubby was able to somehow retrieve my document and his client info, but it's still not up to par!! THANK GOD he was able to get the important stuff though!
