January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

We're about 80% sure we're going back in June! After our WDW trip, we're going to be driving up to Tallahassee to see my husband's family. It should be a great trip!

Tallahassee is only 2 hours from me Meg...you should let me know and I could come over and we could have dinner or something together LOL!!!

I'd say when it rains it pours but I feel like I'm in a monsoon LOL...things are good and I hope to get my udpate up tomorrow...things have been very very crazy!!!

I'm so excited I can't wait...only about a month away!

I am totally going crazy here, but in a good way. I just got off the phone with Disney and they put a complimentary hold on a ressie! I have to talk to the man with the money about everything! They've put a hold on a room for me at POR! Is that the resort with the trundle bed? I can't remember. That would be awesome because then we'd all technically have our own bed! I just can't believe this is actually happening! Ok...another question....As you know, I haven't stayed on property for quite awhile, so I've never booked my own trip. What exactly is the protection plan that you can add on and how much is it? The quote they gave me included it. I couldn't really understand my CM very well, and I didn't feel like asking her about it. I know my Snowbirds can give me a helping hand!

Girl! That would be AWESOME - the bed thing, I mean. She would probably love having her own bed, too. I think the beds are in the Aligator rooms. (Maybe...)

I don't know if it is because we have stayed at Pop more often, but we prefer Pop over the All-Stars. We were at ASMo in January and are looking forward to going back to Pop in August.

I think we like the theming better, and the bus transportation seems better at Pop. But again, maybe it is just because we have stayed there more often.

I have stayed at AS Movies once - pre-kids. I would love to check out Pop. Plus it's really close to CBR, so I'd guess it might be closer to Epcot and MK than the All stars. It's also newer. But I've never stayed there, so take my opinion with a grain of salt if you wish! Check out some of the resort threads and find out about the food courts etc.

Thanks! I stayed at ASMusic about 12 years ago and it was ok. I mean, I was 15 yo and I didn't care where I stayed! I was at WDW!!! I think we might go with Pop since we've never been there.

We like Pop for the shear fact that they don't share busses. The one year we did ASMo, we were the last to pick up almost always standing! And I had a two year old who was usually sleeping at the end of the night...and heavy...very heavy... We did like the Toy Story buildings!

I think we are going back to Pop in January. The kids like the frozen slushie machines, and last year we paid for preferred and ended up pool-side. THAT'S the way to go. We were about 60 seconds away from the food court (gotta have my caffeine) and 2 minutes from the busses. LOVED IT!!

We've done All-Star Movies twice and POP once.

Both have great themes. The bus service is better at POP but if you stay at Movies, at Toy Story building 10 there is a path to the bus stops that is literally a 20 second walk. POP does look "fresher" and both have decent food courts and good pools.

We're giving POP another shot in August, you'll probably be happy with either. They're both a ton of fun and a good place to lay your head at night.

We got the pin code last week too! Mike was actually trying to figure out how much it would be for all 5 of us! I just need to call and get a quote. I though about coming in the weekend before and staying longer----has anyone been over memorial day weekend? Maybe that would be the days we just laid around by the pool!!!! I am getting crazy with this--I am jumping all over the calendar to just get something going!!!!! I am just really rung out right now with school, and all the sports and just life! Ha!! Disney is my escape hatch, even planning trips that may or may not happen, help me out!! so, here I sit getting rates/dates that we will probably be sitting at home on!! Ha!! Really would like to do the end of May tho'--so what do you think about mem. day weekend?

I got one a few weeks back - Kids Sail for Free - from Disney Cruise Line and it came via email.

The one I just got this week - Kids Stay Play & Dine for Free at WDW - came in the regular mail.

My MIL's pin came snail mail on the kids stay and eat free deal.

Memorial day - could be a busy weekend, as I believe most holidays are. Lots of more local folks probably. But, a lot of places are still in school into June, so maybe after Monday it wouldn't be too bad?

I've stayed at POP and really liked it - both regular and preferred rooms. The only real problem we had with POP is that at the parks, POP's busses are wayyyyy at the end of the queue. It's tough with a little one.

I'm with you! I'm planning a trip that I wish could be made sooner but I'll be ready just in case something magical happens and we can get back sooner.

What do ya'll think about driving to and from the parks with a little one? Would that be better than POP busses?

We have always driven to Florida so we always take the car around WDW rather than buses. It's just easier with strollers and kids for us. We plan on staying at ASMo next trip and we will definitely be driving instead of buses.
