January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Mine barley gets turned off!:rotfl2:
I know some of you are race fans, Dh is upset, and Jimmy looked so HOT tonight!
I posted my first day photopass pics on my trip report. I am separating my photo share pictures. For those who are worried about them now doing it by dates and not upload date, don’t worry it is not that bad to sort through them. :wave2: Kate I love your pic with Dark Vader. Where did you get that taken? I am so jealous!:thumbsup2

We had that done in front of Star Tours where they do the show. Chuck was not a happy camper last night Matt was doing awesome then whamo. Oh well better luck next week.

Good morning Snowbirds.

The kids and I just got home from Church. DH had to go into work for awhile this morning but should be home soon.

Not sure what today will bring. The snow is all starting to melt around here and it is a big yucky mess outside.

I'm so glad it's Nascar season again! It was so fun watching the race last night! :thumbsup2

I updated my dining report with a Mama Melrose review yesterday. Not sure if I'll work on that any today or not.

Have a great Sunday Snowbirds! :goodvibes

Good afternoon everyone. Our DD has a birthday party to go to today and it's at a cooking school. It should be a lot of fun. My DH just left to go out to lunch with a guy he works with. Nothing like a business lunch on a Sunday I guess. My DD and I also have to work on her valentine's for school. Does anyone think that Visa will offer free dining again this fall? I really hope that they do!!!! That would be a very hard offer to turn down.

Hello Snowbirds! :cool1: :cool1:

I know there was a list with pre-trip reports that Snowbirds were working on...has anyone complied the trip reports? :confused3 I can try to put together a list, if anyone wants to post or pm me their link. Since I'm probably not going to to a TR, I should try to contribute somehow! :goodvibes

ETA: I think I can copy and paste links from people's signatures. Does anyone mind if I do this? I don't know the etiquette on that!

Oh yeah, that would seal it for me! We'd love to go in October or November. I bet if things are still slow into summer, they might have some more deals! Keeping my fingers crossed!!

There used to be a list of them going. . . I can't seem to find it though. Maybe it was back on part IV. . .

I'm sure it's fine if you copy them from people's signature's though! :thumbsup2

Good Afternoon Snowbirds!! My DH bought me a Cricut so I have been going Cricut crazy today:hyper: I can't wait to start my Disney scrapbooking I just have to wait for our PhotoPass CD...waiting is hard :scared:

I haven't even edited my photopass pics yet. I like the majority of them, so that's always a good thing. I haven't uploaded my pics from my camera yet either. I'm definately going to do a TR, I just haven't had the motivation yet. I'm still going through withdrawal, but maybe starting my TR will help me out. I'll most likely do all of this stuff this week. I only have to work one day and it will give me something to do. Next week, my DD has her winter break, so maybe my mom can give me a scrapbooking lesson!

Well that's a tough question. . .

May was definitely less crowded. But we preferred the January weather. DH is leaning towards Jan/Feb, he said he just enjoyed himself much more not being out in the 90+ temps all day. And I did get much more cooperation out of him and the kids this time! But I enjoy May, and I am worried that if we go with Jan/Feb we might not luck out on the weather like we did this time. . . It was only 50 the first few days of our trip but we lucked out and it got into the upper 70's and low 80's a few days later.

:confused3

Hi Shelley,

I'm just jumping in here and haven't read the next couple of pages. I think if you go February, you'll be more certain of nice weather. Of all the times we've gone in that timeframe, January gave us the most variance. February is a little calmer weather-wise and is usually very nice. We prefer to get there on Super Bowl Sunday. First two weeks in February are great!

I also think taking kids out of school in February is better for catching up. Going out in May, then only having 4-6 weeks of school left could be tricky depending on the teacher.

Having a hubby cooperate - priceless! I would vote for the winter trip.

I hope they offer REALLY good deals that would be the only way my DH will "let" me take my DS5 for his birthday :wizard:

I am not very good at scrabooking - I try but it's a great way to let yourself be creative. The best part about it is there is no wrong way! You are a dancer so I bet your pretty creative :confused3 Your daughters old enough I bet you guys could do it together!

Hello all!! Did anybody else's smilies get shifted around again? WEIRD! Any way, I still haven't developed my pics yet!!!:scared1: Bad, I know--but now I also have lots from my grandpa's bday party this weekend. It went really well! He's sooooo funny- he walks 5 miles a day and can just about out work many men I know half his age! I guess that all comes from YEARS of hard work day after day! He is one of 12 kids, so I guess you gotta learn early to make it!!!(Did I mention before that he was 80?) I remember distincly when I was 5 and he was turning 50, I was soooooo sad. I thought he was so old that he was going to die. You know, when you are little, 50 just sounds ancient. Ha! I tell him that all the time and that I just know he will out live all of us! His dad was a SEVERE alcoholic most of his life, and he died at 88--because he didn't take care of himself. So, I see a loooooong life ahead for my gramps!

Well, that was my weekend-familly from Friday to Sunday-it was fun tho'. I just wished my Granny could have been here to share in it. I gotta get off that subject or I'll be heading for Kleenex!!! Hope ya'll have a great week!!!

Good Afternoon Snowbirds!! My DH bought me a Cricut so I have been going Cricut crazy today:hyper: I can't wait to start my Disney scrapbooking I just have to wait for our PhotoPass CD...waiting is hard :scared:

I just finally got all my pics loaded on the computer and my sister emailed all hers to me...I have over 800 pics to sort and go through!!!:scared: My photopass cd should arrive next week so then I'll have those too. Yikes!
I can't wait to start scrapbooking them though. I just started digital scrapbooking and I can't decide if I want to do it the old fashioned way or on the computer?:confused3 Digital is cheaper and much faster so I'll probably do it that way. Perhaps a hybrid album?

A party at a cooking school sounds fun!

I'm hoping they offer free dining. I'd love to convince my dh to go back for my birthday in September. It won't happen though. Neither of us can take off work again. I'd be happy if we go back in 2010. He's thinking more like 2011:eek: I don't think I can wait that long.

Did you go to Fantasmic the Thursday you were there? It was raining too hard so we decided to skip it. That's two visits now that I've missed it...guess I'll just have to go back again soon!

I would love it if you make a list. I haven't had time to catch up on everyone's trips yet. I'm still thinking of doing a TR but don't know if I have enough freetime to do it. I think I may just post a few pics on here instead.

This is totally :offtopic:, but I have a carseat question for all of you. In Texas, the new law says that kids 5 & up, and 40" and up are exempt from riding in a car seat. Well, Gracie is 5(6in april) and a good bit over 40". She is in a booster now with the back on it. I think it's starting to get uncomfortable to her(maybe where your knees bend?) because she's been talking about 'needing a new one'. I know when she came out of her Britax, I took her out of it, because her legs were so long it hit the backs of her legs funny. Do you think she should even be in a car seat? I mean, the only other option really, is just a backless booster, but they are the same as what she's in, only backless?....Just curious what you all have as state guidelines, and if I should just take her out of it. I know some states are raising height requirements to 4'9"....one of my best friends is barely 4'10"!!! I am 5' 2", so that doesn't leave much leeway!!! Maybe all of us shorties will be needing one in a couple of years!!!:rotfl:

Shawna, my boys are both still in boosters. DS10 is about 4'6" and he measures himself frequently, hoping he's up to 4'9"! The law here in VA is that under 8 years require a booster, so neither of them is required to use one. But all the guidelines say it is recommended up to 4'9", so that's what we're going with. If they're riding with someone else I don't send a booster along. Come to think of it, they don't use them in DH's car either. But in the minivan they sit in them. We have one high-back style and one backless. They've never said that it was uncomfortable (just a little uncool, I guess! ). For your daughter, check where the seatbelt shoulder strap would hit her without the booster. It might rub on her neck, which would be even more uncomfortable than a booster (not to mention dangerous!) I've seen in catalogs those devices that you attach to the seatbelt to adjust the angle of the shoulder strap, but I've never used one. Anyone? :confused3

Good morning Snowbirds! :cool1: :cool1:

Oh, Shawna--:bday: to your grandpa! It sounds like he is still going strong--good for him! :)

Crzyred, your baseball trip sounds like so much fun! I would love to do that someday. I'd have to go with girlfriends, though--DH enjoys a baseball game or maybe two a season, but probably couldn't stand a whole trip of them. I tell him that someday (like when we retire, probably! ) we'll have to go to Arizona for Spring Training. :thumbsup2

OK, I'll try going through the thread and gathering some links to trip reports. popcorn:: If anyone has a report for me to include, please let me know! Thanks!

My boys still use boosters too. They are both in the backless ones. They never complain that they are uncomfortable. DS9 just doesn't like to use one when his friends are around because none of them are in one. And he is legal to not use one, but my kids are small for their age, so better safe than sorry!

My boys were always big for their age-but I kept them in one until they were around 5. She is tall for her age, but petite-I think I am just going to get a backless one and let her stay in that for a while longer. Thanks ladies!!!!:flower3:
