Logan handed me a big envelope today in class. He got it from one of the ladies that works in the ROTC office. It has a ton of Disney stuff in it. I'm guessing she got it on the trip she just went on, because it all says November 2008 on it. (I didn't even realize that she got another trip scheduled in! I knew she was trying, because she got an AP on her last one) Anyways...most of the info will be outdated when we go, but it's still really fun. She even got me a map of AKL, so I don't have to print my own out! I realize they give you all that stuff when you check in, but I like having everything organized.

That's so cool! We have all that same food too! I am full blooded. My grandparents and great grandparents were survivors. My Dad was born in Syria and my mom in Boston. My dad came to the U.S. to go to college.

Because my uncle married a Norwegian, we have a bit of a mix at holidays too! I wish we had lefse more, rather than pickled herring. Being from MN, it seems Norwegian stuff finds its way in no matter what! I have yet to go near lutefisk. I just watched an episode of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern that he did on Minnesota and talked about it - now I definitely will NOT eat it!

Ha. My family's from MA - my mom grew up in Haverhill. Wonder if our families knew each other at one point?! My mom was born and raised here in the US - she's a tagalong and my aunt is significantly older.

Lutefisk is terrifying to look at. I like seafood and I can't bring myself to even try that stuff!!

Anyway, big nose, dark hair, dark eyes REPRESENT! ;)

My mom grew up in Belmont. Funny story - I went to college at Mt. Holyoke. Lots of students from Boston area. Met an Armenian student a couple years behind me. She's from the same area - Belmont/Watertown - as my mom. So I'm talking to my mom about her and mom says, "what's her name?" I tell her. Mom says "I knew a guy with that last name. What's her dad's name?" So I find out and it turns out that my Mom dated her Dad!!! So from then on out, we called each other sister!
Yup, we looked a lot alike - dark hair, eyes, big nose, short!

Sorry that was so off topic to everyone else!

Oooooo! I want to be jingled and get a bouncing Mickey head! Pretty please?? Does anyone else celebrate St. Nicholas Day? It's an Italian thing (or so I've always thought). It's the day when kids get candy in their shoes or something along those lines. My mom always did that for us growing up, but now it's turned into getting a little gift instead.

At this point I'd settle for just getting the tree up...please tell me there is another Snowbird out there who hasn't put their tree up...PLEASE...don't make me beg LOL!

However on the Christmas pressie front, I have done extremely well and have bought many of the gifts that were on my list...just have to do my Mom and Uncle...of course it only counts when they are actually wrapped.

My to do list is so large I'm afraid to write it all down LOL!

I don't even have a tree. I looked a little while I was at home for the little one that my brother used to have in his room, but I didn't find it. I do have a Santa candle holder up though. My plan is to go shopping after Christmas, and buy a tree that is extra marked down for next year.

I'm thinking about doing a pre-trip report but we will see how that goes. I'm so excited......Next month!!! YAY :cool1:

I've been thinking about doing a PTR for a long time, but I haven't been able to collect my thoughts long enough to start one. Maybe once finals are over?

I went to school at UMass - one of my friends was a Mt. Holyoke grad. One of my cousins currently lives in Belmont. HOW FUNNY!

Yeah, I've got the short thing down, too, but we blame that on my Portuguese side! ;)

Well good evening birdies! Sounds like everyone is doing alright. I think I'm currently a frozen blob. I got home from work to find that my brother didn't shovel this morning, so I had to do it. Of course after cars have been driving on it all day and the plow went through. It was a heavy snow too...grrrr....so now my back hurts and I'm frozen. *Water is currently heating up for hot chocolate* I will be sore tomorrow...:rolleyes1

Someone in WI said you had a snow day today...you must be father south than the Fox Cities. I think we only got about 5" or so.

Ooo..that bouncing Christmas Mickey is rather cute!

So we got our Magical Express tags today! However, my father isn't listed!:rotfl: So my mom called back right away and got things straightened out. The guy said he didn't know why it wasn't on there because it was on his info on the computer. Oh well. And I think we are going to purchase our Park Tickets tonight :woohoo: . I'll put those on my credit card because with Chase right now I can get triple points! So those will come in handy.

Ok off to down my hot chocolate. Have a good night everyone!

DECEMBER!!!! Happy December 1st snowbirds. I can not believe I am excited that today is 12/1. :headache: Must be Disney on the brain!
Check out my ticker..tick tock tick tock!!!:dance3:
Making some cookies with DD, not Christmas just ones to eat now. LOL
DH was like making cookies already, MAN!
Well have a good night everyone.
Oh don’t forget Thursday at 8pm travel channel.

I was in the skit for the Backlot Tour...I didn't know what I was getting in too. That was in May 2005...no Golden Girls house. We went in May 2001, I don't remember the skit...but the houses were still there. I would rather have the house tour than the skit...which I think is boring if you've already seen it.

I hate how it is now. It is a good to get off your feet ride, if you have seen it before. When we were there in 2000, they had a home improvemnt thing that was neat. It use to be so much better.

This year, Chanukah comes out very close to Christmas - first night, when we light the first candle, is on December 21. I'll be getting the few decorations we use (tablecloth, various menorahs, the electric menorah) out in the next few days. Our biggest preparation is grating the potatoes to make latkes! But we do that on the night we want to eat them.

This year, D will be home for Chanukah! :cheer2: Last year, the holiday was so early (I think it was the first or second week of December) that it was over before exams! Boy, did I miss her. :sad1: The holidatys just aren't the same without the kids, no matter how old they are!

Have a great night everyone!

Hello all,
been a busy day of studying for me, only 2 more nights and then the exam, and then full blown disney mode!
We did decorate our tree on Sunday. It's a huge tree - the back has no ornaments - ;) Tink is up top (I think she needs more lighting to illuminate her??).
Dh got the lights all working outside properly now ! Yeah DH!
Today being at home, I was able to get alot done around the house as i studied. Boy do I miss being a SAHM. :sad1:
tonight I wanted to watch the Disney Planning DVD, we have the 2008, awaiting on the 2009. Dh asked why watch it when I am on the dis and I know all the things anyway! :lmao: I said because I want the excitement and motivation.

Amazingly enough DD has taken off and is busy somewhere in the house- Christmas surprises I think.
and DH is scrubbing the bathroom.
Ever since we decided Christmas was at our house he is in full mode to become domesticated, he wants the house perfect for the holidays.
Bless him.

I love the Charlie Brown tree!

And to finish off- can some one jingle me so I can get replace the Gobble! Thank You!

Ok I really don't want to offend you. However every time I read the word "Chanukah" I think you are saying Chrismikah. It was the holiday that they celebrated on The OC. :rotfl: I need to learn to actually read these post, not just skim them!

Someone in WI said you had a snow day today...you must be father south than the Fox Cities. I think we only got about 5" or so.

I live in the corner of Fond du Lac and Sheboygan Counties, right where Winter Storm Albert left his hardest mark. I was expecting the schools to be delayed for 2 hours, but my surprise at 6:15am was the full closure! My head cold kept me from work besides. I tried not leaving the house all day, but we were out of milk. So off to the closest gas station for a gallon and a hot coffee. Should be a good combination tonight, caffine and Nyquil!

We do St. Nick's Day here in Wisconsin. I thought it was a German thing...but anywho, we fill the stockings on the eve of the 1st Friday in December. One year, that was our 1st night at Pop, so along came the stockings and treats. Tradition says something like leaving socks and shoes to be filled with fruits and treats to share with all. My children have thrown that "old custom" right out the door. They still get a few fruits, but also some gold coin chocolates, small dollar gifts(preferrably disney gifts), and ALWAYS a small bag of "coal" (black bubble gum in the shape of coal) just to let them know that they aren't good all of the time. Dh usually gets a can of beer in his stocking and a wine cooler in mine along with some fruit and a pair of new socks.

Love the Menu of the day...Captain Jacks was a favorite of ours, but I noticed that they took off the twin lobster tails. The service was always good for us and the food was good...but the atmosphere was the best of all. Now that we are doing the new CS meal plan, I'm going to try Earl of Sandwich in DTD.

I can send you one, but I can't even get the one that was sent to me to work! :lmao: Of course I can't seem to get much of anything to work on this dang computer today. . .

I'm having trouble too, despite Trixie's specific instructions! I did get rid of Gobble. Deleting is so much simpler! I'll keep working on it tonight while watching the GRINCH!

Okay, I think I've made some progress on my bouncing santa mickey, but all I see is a box with a red X in it. Better than seeing the whole URL spelled out I guess. Maybe it will show up soon! Here's hoping!
