Well I got a doctors appointment today at 4:30pm hopefully he'll be able to help me out with my lower pain, it seems my kidneys have been hurting me recently.

Good Girl! Now take care of yourself! :goodvibes

Someone asked if anyone else was feeling a bit OVERWHELMED with all the things that have to be done...that is a resounding YES!! I still haven't gotten my tree up yet...what is wrong with ME!!!!! I'm not even sure when I'm going to find time LOL!!!

At this point I'd settle for just getting the tree up...please tell me there is another Snowbird out there who hasn't put their tree up...PLEASE...don't make me beg LOL!

No tree and no lights and NO decorations anywhere in my house yet! Come on - it's only Dec. 1st! Christmas is still 24 days away!

I get really annoyed that there is so much pressure these days to start earlier and earlier for Christmas! We don't even put our tree up until the kids are out of School for Christmas Break! In our House, we have ONE WEEK of Christmas! Not 2 months! The tree and lights etc go up the weekend right before Christmas and Everything comes New Year's Day or sooner! I love Christmas just as much as everyone else - I just don't like that it has become a month or two long celebration!

That's all I have to say about that! :)

Good afternoon everyone! I also want to say :welcome: to all of our new Snowbirds! :cool1:

To answer sharadoc- At the World's Largest Disco, the weird people are the ones who DON'T dress up. It's a lot of fun. I wore a dress with big yellow, orange, brown and green flowers on it; big orange earrings; an orange headband; and black boots (they're the ones we wear for my dance team). It's always fun to people watch at the disco!

I can't believe it's December! I have to get my Christmas cards togther! I'm still waiting to get my personalized Christmas address labels from Current, but I guess I could start writing them all out. We have yet to put up our lights in our windows and I don't know when that's going to happen. Maybe tonight or Friday night. Those are my only free nights this week!

However on the Christmas pressie front, I have done extremely well and have bought many of the gifts that were on my list...just have to do my Mom and Uncle...of course it only counts when they are actually wrapped.

My to do list is so large I'm afraid to write it all down LOL!

Haha - I was thinking the same thing! We drove D back to school yesterday and the normal 3 1/2 hour trip home took over 6 hours. The traffic was horrific and it rained the entire way, with some snow/sleet in the AM when we left the hotel in CT to drive to NY. Fun times....

To add insult to injury - we listened to the Patriots game on the radio in the car and they got demolished and demoralized by the Steelers. Now, to even have a chance to get into the playoffs, they have to win their last 4 games and other teams have to lose games.

But, on a good note - it is December and going to AAA after school to pay off the trip!:cool1: This is the only time I am happy to be writing out a check that big - LOL!

Hopefully, will start with the Christmas decorations this weekend, both inside and outside.

We haven't started decorating yet. From what I understand we will start this coming weekend. I'm sorry to admit that I am totally not in the mood for Christmas.:sad2:

When I was little, we had neighbors who had a cool tradition for their Christmas tree.

On Christmas eve, when they went to church, Santa brought the tree along with the presents! His elves helped decorate it I think - or else the family did it that night! I always thought that was cool.

I enjoy Christmas so much, I like it to last a while. It seems like it can be so time consuming to put up all the decorations, I want to enjoy them for longer than a week! I try not to succumb to the pressures about gifts and consumerism, etc. But it is a fun time to enjoy family and friends, and the parties seem to spread out over a month.
My family always had an "extra" little celebration for the epiphany (?) on January 6th as the Armenians celebrate Christmas then much like the Orthodox. (Oh, yes, I'm Armenian btw). :)
Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I was just realizing that my only free nights this week are Tuesday and Friday. Then next week I'm out quite a bit too!! I just have to actually sign our Christmas cards and get them in the mail!!! YAY!! I'm not thinking about everything else I have to get done by next weekend!!

How cool is it to say NEXT MONTH!!!!!!

I just emailed the lady at the Coral Reef where I have dinner reservations for my hubby's birthday- shhhh it's a surprise. I am REALLY hoping they are continuing the diver and personalized menu for '09. Hoep she responds to my email soon! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

I want to know more about the Charlie Brown tree. I want one for my yard! Do you have a picture?

Here you go...this one is only about 2 1/2 feet tall, so I don't think it would get much attention out in the yard. But I love it!

I'm half Armenian! Growing up, my holidays were always a blend of old world and US traditions. I never had mashed potatoes, we had rice pilaf! Stuffed grape leaves were served next to the turkey and dessert ALWAYS has paklava! My mom's parents emigrated here during the genocide and both were considered survivors.

Anyway, marrying a midwesterner who has an ALMOST traditional holiday has been kind of fun. Except, of course, that he's part (Minnesotan) Norweigan, so out comes the lutefisk at Christmas and the lefse for both Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I don't think any of us have been jingled yet LOL!!! I know I want a bouncing Mickey..I may just have to go out and find one LOL!!!

Then you'll have to share with all of us!

Sometimes my computer at work won't let me see!! Is it working??? If so as soon as I get home I'll share with others!! THANK YOU TRIXIE!!

That's so cool! We have all that same food too! I am full blooded. My grandparents and great grandparents were survivors. My Dad was born in Syria and my mom in Boston. My dad came to the U.S. to go to college.

Because my uncle married a Norwegian, we have a bit of a mix at holidays too! I wish we had lefse more, rather than pickled herring. Being from MN, it seems Norwegian stuff finds its way in no matter what! I have yet to go near lutefisk. I just watched an episode of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern that he did on Minnesota and talked about it - now I definitely will NOT eat it!
