January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part III !!!

No it's a baby possum, there is a mommy around sometimes too.

Oh my! My sister had a possum family under her deck. Watch yourself. She was not able to get in her door one day. She finally had to call someone.
We had a ground hog this summer under our deck. DH was not happy because he had just stained the deck. We caught it in a trap and he drove it 10 miles away He was cute, but was diggin up my garden.

Do you know once when I was in the Main Street candy store I asked the girl for a Jelly Apple, she had know idea what I meant. I said the things next to you. She goes Oh, a CANDY apple. Now I'm thinking whatever they can be called both, right? This man behind me then goes, "Jelly Apple, she must be a Yankee!" It was the oddest thing. I had never been insulted by being called a Yankee!
Maybe someone needs to tell them, YOU LOST THE WAR!
lol, seriously whats up with that though?

Never heard that before. I had a candy apple tonight.
I just might call them that now, to confuse people.

Alright ladies, time to head home and carve me a pumpkin!
Then I think I'm going to bake some cupcakes and watch "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!" I love the holiday specials!

We carved punkins too. I feel so behind this year. We always have them done sooner. I was to do a mickey one, but DS wanted to do a phillies one. I have to get a pic of it and post it. He did good. I was impressed. I also like nerds still, but my teeth dont. I love swedish fish.

I'm so glad I found you all!! I agree with the OP's about how kind everyone is! It is definately a support group and not a clique (even in a cliques, everyone talks about everyone else)! We are here to talk about our obsession (or as my DH calls Disney and the DIS, my "happy place"). So I'm thankful to have you all and all the info here and all the POSITIVE vibes and PIXIE DUST!!

Gonna try to go to bed...DS2 is upstairs in bed with a HACKING cough every few minutes. His big brother is in my bed with DH, and he's all excited because he doesn't have Kindergarten tomorrow because of P/T conferences, so I took the day off to spend with him! It's gonna be a long night!

I love this thread...it's nice to chat and get to know other Disney fans. I've learned so much from y'all and the DIS. I wish I would have found the DIS for our previous trips.

I hope everyone gets the codes that they want...and they enjoy their trips.

I would love to get a code and save some money...if not we still plan on going. I actually never paid attention to codes before...we just got whatever discount AAA was offering.

OKAY! LIKE, SERIOUSLY, I am on a total musical high right now! Cannot stop singing! IT WAS AMAZING! I love the movie (oooh John Travolta ) but this was such an amazing experience! Probably the closest I will ever get to Braodway! We have a really great theatre here in my city! They try really hard to get great shows to come in! They just announced tonight that CHICAGO will be coming in March! Tickets go on sale tomorrow! Ask me how tempted I am! Anyway, gotta go to bed! DH is taking our car to work tomorrow and I need to get up and get groceries before he leaves! Alarm is set for 6:15am!

Does the QOTD need to be Disney related? Have we done a "what's your favorite Halloween (or, for non-Halloween celebraters, any candy) treat?"

I love Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, as I believe a few other people have said too. However I do agree that those aren't specific to Halloween. So specific to "Halloween" would be candy corn....YUM!!

Well, I got my deal for the cruise. I will get a voucher for a 3 night cruise between August and December 17, 2009 for $99 per person!! We don't have to book until between April and May, so I can hopefully check the school schedule. This means I could get APs and go back in December like we've always wanted to. We'll get to see the Christmas decorations, all the Santas in world showcase, Osbourne lights!!!
Now I have to research if I want to change my resort with an AP rate and see what I can get on this trip. OH LIFE IS GOOD!!! and so crazy!!

Off to do more research!!

That's awesome! I've been to Disney in Jan. a few times and got to see the decorations, it's amazing. I can't imagine what it would be like to be there BEFORE Christmas, and the total high you would feel walking around knowing it was coming. The Osbourne Lights are awesome. There are so many of them! You will have to remember to walk around, every where. They put lights and displays up in places you wouldn't expect them. Disney goes all out for the Christmas decorations.

Well I got my pumpkin carved. Actually my mother carved the pumpkin. I "gutted" it and was all set to do it when my mother sat down and just started doing it. It was cute though, she kept telling my friend and the kids she babysits for how we used to do this when I was little and how it's been about 13 years since she's carved a pumpkin. So we had help from two 2 yr olds, the 4 yr old refused to help because it was gross... But tomorrow morning before work I will get the pumpkin seeds ready to bake!

Plus my grandma was talking about how they used to make pumpkin pie on the farm. So we've saved all the parts we need and we are going to give it a shot....for real home made pumpkin pie. I'll let ya know how that turns out.

I have been "watching" all the code drama It's a bit overwhelming planning your 1st WDW vacation to the happiest place on earth and then an all out war starts over there Oh well hopefull a code comes out tomorrow and it will all be over

My thoughts exactly! Then again, I think that most people on this board are very helpful and nice. As it is also our first trip to WDW, I have gathered sooo much information from here, and when I didn't find any info on a certain issue and had to ask a specific question, I got many answers. I appreciate it that people here really take time to answer questions.

My next trip- which won't be for a few years is DEFINITELY going to be before Christmas. We had originally thought about going at Christmas but my sister's husband had no more vacation time left for 2008. Disney is magical enough all year so I can only imagine how much more magical it is at Christmas. Someday...

And Crzyred- good luck with the pie- let us know. I haven't even carved my pumpkins yet. Hopefully today we'll get to it. If not it will be over the weekend and we'll just extend our Halloween celebrating!

I've lived in New York my whole life (Syracuse and now Buffalo) and I've NEVER heard of a jelly apple. I'm not a fan of the candy apples. I always feel like I'm going to break a tooth! But, caramel apples I adore! They were the favors for my sisters wedding and they sure were delicious! As for being called a Yankee, that has never happened to me. I don't think that's very nice.

I've never heard them called anything but Candy Apples.
We're making caramel apples today!! They are the yummiest!!!!
