Forgot to answer the QOTD. Hmmmm...... Well, I def don't like ToT.:sad2: I was sick all day after I rode it--I have a 'functional heart murmur'---which the Dr. always says only means my heart beats different than most people, but it does do a weird little skip-thing every now and again. I feel kinda like I had been holding my breath for a long time & there is just no air for a couple of seconds. Anyway, I guess that's why, but I really thought on that ride---this is it--I am gonna have a heart attack. I was sick at my stomach and had the shakes the whole day. Anyone else feel that way, or is it just me? Or is it suppose to make you feel like that?!?

Uuummmm... the Nemo ride was a bust after the looooonnnngggg winding line we were in--one of the longest, so I was disappointed. My little girl liked it though, so it wasn't a total waste.I didn't do it, but my husband said Stitch was the worst thing he's EVER done at Disney. He just couldn't wait for it to end!!

Wow! So much to reply to. I sure hope I didn't skip anyone.

So, we've been reading our guidebooks, and watching the dvds, and you know the 1 thing my little princess is MOST excited for????? K, this is the girl with Princess Breakfast reservations, Dinner in the castle, and BBB reservations???? Finding De Vine in Animal Kingdom!!! The picture fell out of the book and she's been carrying that around with her and showing people - too cute!!!

Welcome!!! We will be there the same time as you. The De Vine story is precious!

Today it is exactly 2 months until I get to the US! I don't think I realized just how much I miss home until the countdown started getting closer! I left the US on August 4, 2004. Wow. I will be so happy to land in Newark. Heck, I might even kiss the tarmac. Or the first airport employee I see!:lmao:

And that's about that from my part of the world. Better go get ready for Arabic!:rolleyes1
~~Carrie

Carrie, I am just going to hug your neck if I see you! I'm so excited that you will be in the states in 2 months. Woohoo!!!!:yay:

Isn't the current free dining offer bookable until the 18th? So I wonder if any new offers won't be until after that, maybe. :confused3  :confused3

Just wanted to say that I've missed you, Trixie!

The first weeks of January had traditionally been one of the slowest times of the year at the World, but not in the last couple of years. Changes in school vacation times plus the WDW Marathon have made early January a much busier time than it used to be, so plan accordingly for the possibility of moderately high crowds on certain days. On February 1, the Superbowl will be held in Tampa, FL and this will have an impact on crowds at that time as well.

Moderately high. Boo! I sure hope not!

Good Morning, Snowbirds!!

Another day closer to Disney!

I think we need a QOTD!

What is the ONE attraction that you don't like?

It's a hard one for me because I love them all, but I would have to say Astro Orbiter. It just seems like one of those rides you could do anywhere :confused3

I loathe Mission Space. I thought I was going to die on that ride.

Good morning Snowbirds..... hope everyone is doing well..... busy day here.... but I wanted to stop by and say hello first.....

Shelly..... I think your right about the codes.... I am hoping for free dining... then I might upgrade to the POLY.... sounds like you had great success with your shopping..... it gets hard shopping for teenagers... the stuff they want is sooooooooo expensive....

I would LOVE free dining! It would be so nice to get save some money on this trip. Then DH might love me even more.:lmao:

Good Morning Snowbirds! :goodvibes I just back from walking my 2 little princesses to school and BBRRRR! is it chilly outside this morning! I think the thermometre said 1.3 degrees Celcius (that would be about 35F for you in the States) COLD! Still not as bad as -35! I can't wait for JAnuary!

I hope everyone has a fantastic day!

I can't believe it is that cold! Wow! It's hot and muggy here today. I think rain is coming. Not a good day for HAIR!!!:scared1:

My ticker says 80 days:banana:

Actually I guess it is 79 days because we are taking the train there the day before we arrive at AKV.

I am hoping for low crowds but never expect them. We are arriving on Sunday the 4th and I think that most holiday people will be leaving by the 4th
bc they have to get the kids to school on the 5th. Well time will tell I guess.

Andrea- I didn't realize we had the exact same dates. I sure hope we bump in to eachother. Do you know your schedule yet? You can PM me.:goodvibes

I eye balled the list and don't believe I'm on it (can't recall if I posted here before---and wayyy too many subscriptions lol)
January 26-30 with my mom and best friend to CSR Club Level. WOOOT WOOOT!

Welcome MissMichelle! I subscribe to your trip reports. :goodvibes

I loathe Mission Space. I thought I was going to die on that ride.

I didn't care for MS either. We all waited in line for the "green" version (I would never do orange) and when we got to the end DS7(6 then) chickened out so DH took him outside. So I got stuck going on the dang thing. It wasn't bad, I just didn't care for the enclosed space. I felt like I couldn't breathe, although I'm sure it was all in my head!

I agree with Bella about the weather here today!! YUCK It's gonna rain today and tomorrow. But-of course it is--dh has a driveway that needs to be poured. It never fails---order the concrete trucks and the skies start rumblin'!!! It's ALWAYS bad hair days here!! Which is why I finally cut mine!!! I tried to grow it out for dh one more time (I had long hair when we met and I go through stages of cut it, grow it out and repeat!!). But the end of May I had had enough!! so, I cut it SHORT!! Think....Kate!! I loved it!! It's grown out a little over the summer--I can now do a little flip thing in the back but the top and sides are just long enough to be feathery-short but not toooo short. And the best thing of all: My Mikey said don't ever grow it out again. YEAH :cheer2: I finally won the battle of the hair!!!!It's not thick enough to be long and beautiful--think.....Bella's hair. Not mine, it just gets stringy the longer it gets--plus I feel depressed with it long and I only wear it up in a clip. so.... I love it!!!!

sorry, that got long and kinda all about me didn't it? sorry!!

Hello ya'll

I just got caught up on all these posts! Wow...there are a lot of them! All of you that have posted your days got me wondering how many days we had left.....we only have 86 days!!!:yay: :woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:

We are not telling our kiddos until Christmas afternoon after all the presents and chaos has passed. I have had to be very selective in who and when I can talk about this trip(that's why I love this thread)....I don't want the cat out of the bag just yet! My DH and I call our trip the "Insurance Policy" that way we can sort of talk about it with out the kids knowing. With all the Hurricane Ike damage and debris in and around our area the kids don't even think it out of the ordinary to have their parents always talking about insurance. The conversations usually go something like this....Me: "Hi honey, I just found out today that the Insurance claim filed for the Liberty will no longer have the claim adjusters" DH: huh, what? Oh! Well then what if we file a claim at another venue that does have claim adjusters....something from the 1900's perhaps? Or maybe a policy without any claims adjusters at all would be nice?" Did you follow that? Well, my kids didn't either!

Here are our Insurance Claims:

1-8 Arrive at 7:07 dinner at airport or hotel... depends on kids
1-9 Crystal Palace 8:05am
1-10 Tusker House 8:00am
1-11 1900 Park Fare 4:30
1-12 Le Cellier 4:30
1-13 Chef Mickey 6:30
1-14 WCC 7:00
1-15 Hollywood Vine 8:35am
1-16 Harvest Feast 4:30
1-17 O'Hana 8:20 / Coral Reef 5:30
1-18 Breakfast at a park...Flight at 3:04

Now other than watching and waiting for a code or discount I'm trying to figure out a great way to surprise my 2 kids on Christmas morning. Any ideas? I like the idea of some type of scavenger hunt. I just don't know how to do it exactly. My kiddos are DD 9 and DS almost 3.

Thanks,
Becky

Good morning Snowbirds!!!:goodvibes Peach3s, I can't imagine how ready you are to come home!!! I would love to be at the airport when you get here!!! That would be so fun--all of us out there with big 'ole signs: Welcome Home!! Maybe one of the snowbirds can do it for the rest of us!!!
<snip>

I hope we get a really good code!!! I would like to use the savings for airfare. I would love to fly out of our local airport instead of driving to houston. That's always the most nerve-wracking part!! It'll cost me (at this point--if prices stay about the same) about $750 more to fly from here than Houston!!! We get 'free' airfare from our rewards points--so the flight from here to Houston would be out of pocket. + the parking in Houston is so expensive. Local is free!!! I would much rather drive 45 minutes to the airport than an hour and a half. And of course the Houston traffic makes it seem sooooo much longer!!!But hey--if we just do Houston that's fine too--just wondering how I am gonna put to use all that $$$$ from the FABULOUS code we are getting!!! It should be great since we are all so patient!!

I can't wait to get HOME! I love my life here, I really do. But I'm a central PA girl at heart. I need to see everyone, to hug the snot out of everyone, to eat some good PA food, and just HANG in a place that is completely culturally familiar to me. It's so exhausting trying to catch up with the culture. And to always stand out like a sore thumb. Everyone stares at us everywhere we go all the time. It gets old. And they regularly reach out and touch the kids. My kids are saints. :rotfl:

As for the flight, I completely agree! We took a flight from a closer airport (still a nearly 2 hour drive, but my sister lives just 15-20 minutes away, so we'll take the opportunity to stay with her) to the tune of about $40/person. But, the Philly airport is a nightmare, traffic is awful, we don't have a car big enough to transport all of us plus and extra driver, so we'd have to pay for longterm parking, and it's about 3 hours away from home. It was worth the extra money, at least to my Mom. And she's the one paying. :lmao:

Carrie, I am just going to hug your neck if I see you! I'm so excited that you will be in the states in 2 months. Woohoo!!!!:yay:

Well, I do love hugs!:goodvibes I hope we can hook up to at least say hello! That would be great!:thumbsup2

Yes, I totally understood that conversation. :rotfl: We have several just like it! Your ADR's look great! Great choices!! :goodvibes

As for the surprise, well this is my plan as of now - Let the kids open all of their Santa gifts. Then there will be a small box wrapped up under the tree clear in the back. We will bring it out last and say something like - well mommy and daddy could only get you guys one gift this year - hope you like it! Then inside will be layers. The first one will say something like - "you might need these" and there will be some Disney shirts. The next layer will say - "and these" and there will be Disney sunglasses. The next will say - "because WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY!!!" and the last one will say - "IN JUST 27 DAYS!!!!!" and it will have a countdown calendar! :santa: :cool1:

Hey Becky!! The really sad thing is that I knew exactly what you were talking about!! :rotfl: I see you decided on the 1900 Character meal LOL!!!! I'm also going to be doing that one! YAY!!

Oh, I like that!!! I had thought about having a box under the tree tucked up in the back branches. After lunch as we are trying to organize and sort the chaos I'd point the box out and let the fun begin. I thought I'd have a little box with a clue to another box then another and another..... I would then have the kids collect the boxes first and then open all the boxes and see what was inside....Small mickey/minnie, scarves and gloves, new crocs, little travel kits for the bathroom, a countdown calendar with only 15 spots to count down!!!
What do you think? Maybe the last box could have the layers with the message "In 15 days"......"I will pick you up early from school"..."we will then drive to the airport and board a plane for"......10 days at Disney World!!!"

It's starting to come together!!!!:yay:

Oh and Jen...I'd knew if anyone could understand my Disney speak it would be all you wonderful Snowbirds!

Now that it's after midnight, I can legally post today'a Disney history!

1998: Fantasmic! debuts.

Yay Fantasmic! We're planning our schedule around the ONE performance of Fantasmic! while we're there. Grrr, still mad that they cut it back.

I think there are two Fantasmic showings while we're there. Luckily, they fit pretty nicely into the plan I already have, but I'm worried about how it will affect the crowds. Of course many people probably won't know that Fantasmic isn't shown every night, or even what it is, but there might be some who change their plans so they can experience it, which will increase the number of people at MGM on those days.

Hey Jan. DIS'ers! We'll be there from Jan. 3 - 9 and am cancelling my off site condo to get in at the action at a value onsite. We're a family of five so will be doing connecting rooms at POP or an All Star, or trying for a value! I'm calling my reservation in tomorrow! Have my tickets already (through undercover tourist - but now we're staying onsite wished I wouldn't have - we might have done a dining package - OH WELL! Next time right!) and all our ADR's! We're set and ready.... we'll be arriving in Florida on Dec. 24 (from western canada) and staying in Naples until we hit WDW!

Awww.... I love De Vine...

Isn't the current free dining offer bookable until the 18th? So I wonder if any new offers won't be until after that, maybe. :confused3  :confused3

Yeah... I wasn't really expecting the codes to be released until the end of the month anyways...

Really??? I thought everyone loved that show. We've never seen it. I know, shocking. You'd think we've never been to WDW with all the things that we still have not seen! I think it is only shown a few times a day and it just has not fit our schedule yet. And the kids and DH aren't really interested anyway. :confused3 :fish:

I haven't seen a lot of things either. When I think about my last trip I realize how many things we skipped, because of time restraints. We only went for about 5 days during the busiest time, which means I made it a point to ride new things, and my favorites from before, but I didn't ride a lot of other things.

Good Morning Snowbirds!! Boy its the end of the grading period so we don't have students today, but I feel busier with all the grading I have to do then when the students are here!!!

Umm the one I don't like this is kind of hard, but I'm not a big fan of Sounds Dangerous show...its just not my cup of tea.

I have my Unofficial Guide too!! I have read all the way to the Fronteirland...sometimes I have to take a break to digest all that information.

I also pre-ordered my Deluxe Passporter (had a 40% off deal) and its supposed to come out today we'll see!!!

Yup Yup   HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your little girl Dancergrl!!!  Hope she has a good day!!

I have a question (surprise surprise I know) How do free ticket upgrades work? I already purchased my tickets (with Hopper) would I be qualified for the ticket upgrade? I really just want a great Florida resident rate....crossing fingers we find out soon!!!

And can you believe October is half over...WOW..time sure is flying fast!!!

If you bought your tickets as a package through Disney, then they will be able to refund the money. I'm pretty sure if you bought them through a different outlet, then you will not be able to take advantage of the offer, unless you want to save your other tickets for a later trip, which can be complicated.

Haha... I love it! I want plan a surprise trip at some point, just so I can talk in code. However, my soon-to-be DH probably would be just as lost as the kids. Hopefully, his Disney knowledge will increase by the time we have kids, but who knows. Also, with my luck, I'll probably get a kid just like me who understands the code better than her father, therefore figuring out the surprise.

I know how you feel! I let my hair grow for several years. It was down to my waist this past spring. Then one day I just had enough and got 12 inches cut off!! It was up above my shoulders. I had so much cut off I was able to donate it to Locks For Love. So that was a good thing! :goodvibes Now it's starting to grow back and it is in the in-between stage and I'm not sure what to do with it! I'm not sure I could pull off a short-short hairstyle!

I donated to Locks of Love about 3 1/2 years ago? It was my senior year of high school, and I waited until I got my senior pictures taken and then got the foot cut off. My hair was REALLY long... it hasn't been that long since. It was getting pretty close a couple weeks ago, but I wanted to get it cut a few months before my wedding so it would have time to grow a little, but it wouldn't be as gross as it was (massive split ends - yuck!)

QOTD:
Honestly, if I had to pick one.... I think it would be Space Mountain. It's just too jerky for my tastes. I can handle stomach dropping rides, rides with repetitive soundtracks, shows with weird special effects and annoying "hosts," but the jerkiness of Space Mountain gives me a headache and a neck ache. I usually skip rides like it at other theme parks.
This next trip I'll probably ride it once, just so Logan can experience it, but then I'll probably skip it until I have a kid that begs me to go on it with them.

overthemoon4mickey- Sorry, I thought I quoted you. Your trip sounds fantastic! I can't wait to hear how you decide to suprise the kiddos.

What is the Harvest Feast?

I know how you feel! I let my hair grow for several years. It was down to my waist this past spring. Then one day I just had enough and got 12 inches cut off!! It was up above my shoulders. Yay! Hair talk! Mine was down to my bottom this summer. I finally cut it a bit in August and plan on cutting it even more in a few weeks. :goodvibes

QOTD:

I don't like Dumbo...I don't understand the fascination with a ride that goes around in a circle for 90 seconds...that you waited 2 hours for. When I have kids DH will have to take them...I will go shopping instead. :)

Also not a fan of the Country Bears...we last saw them in 2001...I fell asleep.

I'm hoping codes will come out soon...we've never used them before. Hoping for free dining, ticket upgrades, and room discount. I want them all, but will settle for one.

I have never been on it also. Every time we have tried there was a problem. DD had to use the bathroom, we got of line and decide not to get back in line. It broke down with people on it. It started to thunder and lighting and they closed it down. We have decided we are not meant to ride it. Well have to see...:)

I've never been on Astro Orbiter! I was looking forward to trying it this time. Maybe not now! :rotfl:

None of us really care for the Tiki Room or the Country Bears. We did them both once and have never been back. :confused3 Just not for us I guess!

Can I answer the QOTD twice:

While MS had me fearing for my life, in my opinion, one of the most over-rated rides is Test Track. I think the "fun" part is too short and the rest bores me. (Don't tell my dad....that's what he does for a living! )

Good morning everyone! It's me again!
I know there was some talk about the characters no longer at the Garden Grill. I think I read somewhere (probably here) that they were still at dinner. I have booked a 5:20 ADR so if that's true, we should be okay. I should probably call Disney to confirm.

So, here's my other dilemma. I've been kind of worried about the crowds during MLK weekend. I am visually disabled and wanted to choose a good week where I don't have to battle with the crowds so much. I can change my reservations to be the 24th-31st (it's cheaper to fly Saturday-Saturday) but then I'm worried about crowds from the super bowl.
What do you think is best?
17th-24th or 24th-31st???

Thanks for any advice!

Yes, that's what I heard too. . . Chip and Dale should still be at the Garden Grill for dinner, they just discontinued them at lunch. And I haven't heard anything about them not being at Cape May anymore, they were there in May. Also, we have been to Chef Mickey's twice and Chip & Dale have not been there, have you seen them there Sharadoc???

Wow, that's great news. I have to search through the forums to see exactly what I saw, but I've been under the impression that we couldn't do it, so this changes a few things for me in a good way.

I saw C&D there a long time ago, but I just read a thread about a week ago discussing the fact that they were replaced at Cape May recently. Maybe they get moved in and out.

I really have to scan in some old pictures. We were there with Admiral Goofy. Chip spent about half an hour doing a friend's daughter's hair! (That's how you know it's a girl in there!)

Thanks for the update.

I think I would chance Super Bowl weekend before I would MLK weekend. There probably aren't going to be many schools out during the SB, like there will be for MLK.
