No offense- but "Bureaucracy in Modern Society" sounds like a yawn! :faint:
It's probably a good thing you are able to bring the fun of Disney into it to liven it up!:mickeyjum

Haha! My teacher makes it pretty interesting...he plays clips of movies to demonstrate points. However, he is one of the only teachers I have this semester who allows laptops in class, which throws me into the bad habit of surfing the i-net while in class (the precise reason why my other teachers have outlawed them)
However, part of the reason I'm excited about my topic is because my other choices are less sparkly... FBI (no) criminal justice system (I'm already taking another class on that) Army (uh...I'll be spending the next 8 years of my life as an Army Wife, and that thought doesn't appeal to me half as much as Disney)

Anyways... I have to check out my Disney books, read a book about garbage (I'm not kidding it's called Gone Tomorrow:The Hidden Life of Garbage) and write a paper on it.

Good evening everyone.

Hope you had a great day. I had a rather long day. I work in retail and it wasn't the customers that were giving me a headache. No, stupid management:sad2: .

Grrrr. Oh well, I'm off to get myself ready for some baseball:lovestruc !

Dinner, wine and baseball...what else could a girl ask for!?!?!:rotfl:

Good evening everyone. Well, I won't be on here too much over the next few days. I will try to squeeze out some DIS time tomorrow though. Let's see...what's on the agenda for tomorrow.

Breakfast in the morning with my two sisters and my mom, pumpkin spice pedicure (doesn't that just sound wonderful?) with them in the afternoon, wedding rehersal at 6pm, rehersal dinner at 7pm. Since the tuxedo place sent the wrong shoes for my DH, we have to go back to pick up the right shoes tomorrow afternoon. I might try to fit in one more tanning session (my darn tank top tan just won't go away!) in the afternoon as well.

Then, Saturday is my big sister's big day! :bride: :groom: I'm so excited!!! On Sunday, my parents are having a brunch for our out of town guests, wedding party, etc. We're also celebrating my DD's birthday that day with our extended family since they'll all be in town. Wow. What a weekend! So, I'll try to peek on in here tomorrow! Have a great weekend everyone!

Nobody around tonight? :sad1: I'm sitting at the desk in a hotel room, DDs and DSis are already asleep! Fun group, huh? :upsidedow

Hey, I'm here! Now!

Man, Michigan's fall allergies are kicking my butt right now. With the humidity the other day, I even ended up with an asthma flare-up. It was super-ironic, since I was on my way to the health clinic to pick up an (unrelated) prescription.

We fly to Disney THREE MONTHS from today. I'm not sure of the exact day count. 92 days? Wow!

Of course, my DH got called for federal jury duty. That's Detroit. We live not that close to Detroit. He has to call on the 24th to see if he has to report on the 27th. If he doesn't, he has to call on the 31st to see if he has to report on the 3rd. If not, then, the 7th for the 10th.

Of course, on the 3rd I have my pre-op appointment. We fly to MA on the 6th (return on the 9th) and then surgery on the 14th. He doesn't find it necessary to ask for a postponement!! Husbands!! And since we don't have any family out here, I don't know what I'll do if he has jury duty on the day of my surgery. But I think that's kind of borrowing trouble, you know?!

I'm just glad tomorrow is Friday. First "real" game of the Michigan hockey season! And, on Saturday, the Stanley Cup will be at the arena... debating if we want to join the crowds to see it. I've seen the twin that's at the Hockey Hall of Fame, but not the actual item! Plus DH did promise to take me shopping this weekend. :D

If you end up needing help, let me know. DH just finished jury duty, it stunk! Luckily he got thrown out for the big murder case.

My DSIL kissed the real Stanley Cup!

I'm over on your side of the state, in Frankenmuth. Spent most of the day and way too much money at Bronners.

Hey Snowbirds! :goodvibes I just wanted to drop by and wish everyone a fantastic weekend! I don't know how much I will be able to post over the next few days. We are headed to DH's parent's for our Thanksgiving Weekend! They live about 75 miles away from us in a tiny little town on the Northern shore of LAke Superior. I will definitely check in as often as I can to see how everyone is doing!

I know that Monday is Columbus Day for the U.S. - do you all get a Holiday on that day, what do you do? Kids off school at all or is it just a normal day?
Whatever you do, I hope everybody has a great weekend with family and friends!

I bit the bullet and paid off the rest of our Trip! We had the $$ saved but were holding off paying it until we found out about any codes. With our dollar continuing to drop, however, I didn't want to risk having to pay a ton in exchange rates! So we are all paid up and now we just wait to see if we can get any money back!

Party Hard and Play nice Snowbirds! :cool1: Have a fabulous Weekend! Love to All!

WHOA! 5000 posts...that's fanstasmastic!!

OK... I thought I'd share the depth of my Disney obsession. In my Bureaucracy in Modern Society class we have a paper. (shock shock...it's a sociology class we research and write stuff) Anyways, the teacher gave us a list of things that indicate a bureaucracy: lines, uniforms, hierarchy etc etc. So, what comes into my Disney OCD mind? "Walt Disney World is a bureaucracy!!!"
Needless to say, instead of coming up with something to completely different than Disney, in order to combat my Disney addiction, I am attempting to find at least 15 sources for a Bibliography that talk about the Disney Company as a bureaucracy. My teacher told me he thought it would be hard, but I pride myself on being an excellent researcher and thus far have found twelve sources. However, I would like to add that it's a Bibliography, not a Works Cited. If it was a Works Cited I probably wouldn't be able to find enough sources.

Now I am able to research the interworkings of the Disney Company for the sake of my education.

:rotfl: lol...I love that you can write a paper on Disney. I've done projects on Disney in the past, but I don't think I could swing any right now. Although I still manage to find plenty of Disney references.

The other day in class my friend and I seemed to be constantly seeing allusions to Disney songs. First we read about a philosopher who said "You can't step twice into the same river." I reach over and write POCAHONTAS!! in her notebook. Then later the teacher was saying that something implied "we're all in this together." We almost lost it! :rotfl:

Oh, wish I'd known - I would have saved you my other 15% off the whole purchase coupon! I gave one to my coworker already. Did my damage at Bronner's back in July. ;)

DH served on an attempted armed robbery/rape case last year. That was interesting, once it was done, since that ended up being the man's THIRD consecutive life sentence. Wow. Just... wow!

I guess the Stanley Cup was at a football game recently. They were charging for photos. Doesn't seem they are, this time, unless it's a sneak-it-by-us type of deal. Maybe I should bring my fancy-pants camera just in case? ;)

Thanks for the offer. :D

Have a great Thanksgiving!

At the U, Monday's just another day for all of us! Students, staff, faculty. I think it's the same for our Veteran's Day. The only one that students and faculty get as a day "off" is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Staff gets to work, though, with our supervisor's permissiong, we can go to workshops. :confused3

I hope everything works out for your surgery and hopefully he won't have jury duty to worry about you and you can just get this taken care of and put behind you!!!

I saw the Cup when Gomez brought it up to Anchorage for when the Devils won!! I didn't care a lick about him but to see the cup and to get my picture with it and to see my Red Wings names carved in...that was awesome!!!!

I just couldn't resist this!
