January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part I !!!

T Rex from a CM, will be open in Jan 2009. But I believe is NOT on the Dining Plan.

When Dh questioned about a new restuarant in MK with a pirate theme , the CM did not say no, but to certainly check back and make arrnagements if sucha facility opened

WDW was great with us, considering we called and had to cancel our old and rebook our new. They were wonderful to accept our new and then cancel our old so we would not be without.

We did get the script that there are no guarantees that the restaurants will be on 2009 dining plan or that characters will be involved.

they did require our cc number for Akershus Princess Breakfast. CRT was going to be pay now not just a cc for ressies only! So we said forget that and chose 1900 Park Fare instead and actually think we will like it more.

We'll be at POR 1/18-1/26. I know, MLK crowds, but does anyone know- do they usually last all week or just on Monday? We usually go the last week of January, but can't this year!

2007 MLK crowds were not noticed by us. We didn't even know there was a holiday. It was WDW and over a weekend, so we expected busier than during the week. Our longest wait time was about 45 mins. for Dumbo and Peter Pan.

Alot of rides were walk on for us and some rides didn't interest us. while DH and I rode Space Mountain once. DM and DD rode Buzz 5 times, this was the week after MLK in 2007.

so it looks like wishes is still on the calendar for 2009? I had though that with the "Year of a Million Dreams" ending that a new fireworks show would be created...but Wishes is great, so no complaints.

Now just trying to figure out how to add in Spectro and Fantasmic to my touring plans...we don't arrive until 1/27 so no ADRs til October

Well that's a bummer about T-Rex! I wondered if it would be on the DDP or not.

Glad you were able to change all of your ADR's.

I don't blame you for not booking CRT. We are going to try 1900 Park Fare too!

Yep, looks like Wishes is still a go!

We have to see Spectro this time. Three trips and we STILL haven't seen it! I just can't seem to get my family interested in going and sitting for over 2 hours to wait on a parade. We have gone 1 1/2 hours prior and not been able to find a spot. And we aren't the tallest family (I'm 5' and DH is 5'9") so if we are behind a ton of people we can't see a thing!

I'm hoping that in January we can get a spot a little closer to parade time.

Yes, relax and take in all the sights while you can! The trips will get hectic once little ones come along!

Could someone please explain the whole Tag Fairy thing for a newbie?

I'm not completely sure! Apparently the "Tag Fairy" will take something you said in a post and put it in your tag-line. I guess I never said anything funny or clever enough because I never got a tag! Some people get several, some get none! So I just made my own!

Just checkin' in with my fellow snowbirds before heading off to bed! Well...it's only 9:30pm. I'm sure I've still got at least an hour in me to read the Unofficial Guide tonight!

The time is getting closer. I love to see my ticker everyday. I've got another ticker on another board I frequent, counting down the days until I hit US soil. I've been out of the US for nearly 4 solid years now! By December, it will be almost 4 1/2 years! I'm ready to get back home...at least for a little while! And I'm thrilled that a Disney vacation is part of our trip!

Hope my fellow snowbirds are doing well and getting excited! I'm having fun, keeping up with your chatter!

I just got off the phone with our agent from Small World Vacations.....and put down that deposit on our room-only ressie!

We were going to wait for the packages, but I'm getting anxious...it's so nice to cross things off my list!!

My My you snowbirds are a chatty bunch. Even though I'll be going in January, I don't think I'm a 'true' snowbird - we'll be leaving behind 30+C Summer Days. You could call us snowbirds in that we're going to spend Christmas with family on Beech Mtn in NC (hopefully in the snow, my DDs have never seen the stuff, and I'd love for us to experience a white Christmas once in our lifetimes).

Peach3es - I know what you mean about your UOG... I've read mine from cover to cover (twice I think), and keep going back to it every time I have another idea. I hope it'll hold together until the actual trip!

BTW, we're staying at Pop - but will definately be taking time out to visit a few other resorts to check out Christmas Decorations while they're up, (and for yummy food . Especially looking forward to dinners at Jiko and Boma as we all miss the African food flavours since moving back to Oz.)

I did think I had all my ADRs sorted, until the park hours came out, and Fantasmic was cut back - wasn't planning on doing the dinner package since I thought we'd have plenty of nights to watch - but have changed my mind about that now. Fingers crossed we can get a package! Am waiting on EMH schedule confirmation b4 checking all the others are OK.
