January 19,2008 / Eastern Magic / "The January Thaw Cruise"

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to say I have not forgotten you all :)

Just being very busy with end of school stuff. Only one more week to go and then :crazy2: the kids will be off school. Arrgghhh..

Still no further on our anniversary plans. ( But we have time yet.) Thanks for all your ideas!

Gixer - thanks for the offer. There really isn't much that we miss from the UK. There are a few stores that sell UK foods over here (sometimes for mega bucks!!) so if we do have a craving for something strange, we can usually get it. DH and I were talking about Dandylion and Burdock drink the other day - but I think that craving has passed.:rolleyes1

Off to the Sonoma Valley wine area in a week. :cool1: It will be nice to get a break from the home/school madness. (no, we won't be spending all our time at the wineries :( - in fact we will be lucky if we spend one day wine tasting.

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hi!

Everyone is so much more prepared than we are! Luckily, we drive down from SC, so I don't have to worry about airlines and transfers. We have stayed in the Holiday Inn Express right there at the Publix the past two years.

So I suppose you are much smarter :rotfl: "Holiday Inn Express" My husband loves those stupid commercials!!!

Beth.....thanks for the info. Greatwhite and I are both DVC owners, so we are going to call on Modaday to arrange the day before. I don't know why we didn't think about this earlier.:confused3 Have fun at the beach. Thankfully our passports all are o.k. for at least another 2 years.

Have a great weekend. Our son is out of school as of now :scared1: so we must find things to do this summer to keep him occupied.

We booked at OKW for the night before, and I asked and the Cruise Line bus does go there. We just need to let Dreams Unlimited know so that they will put that on our Itinerary. Another thing done. :thumbsup2

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Good morning everyone!!

Home from the beach, and had a fantastic time. Ate alot of fresh seafood, taught youngest to boogie board and had a good time. Of course, I was so intent on not burning, I forgot the tops of my feet, and they are a brilliant shade of red...lol :rotfl: We went to Emerald Isle here in NC, had never been there before, and the water was crystal clear. No fear of critters this weekend.

Of course it wasn't as nice as castaway, and of course, no konk coolers...(ok, maybe a few beers instead).

I hope everyone is having a good week so far.

We are still around. I had a cyst removed from the bottom part of my right middle finger last week and so now I have five stitches and a pretty much useless right hand. Great for getting out of housework, not so great for typing! I am SLOW......:)

I have a five year old now. That just seems wrong in some way. I thought that I wouldn't get all emotional about it, but I am! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: She is supposed to be a little tiny baby! How does someone who looked like this.....

.....grow up to look like that big girl in my sig? :)

Ahhh well! I guess it is Kindergarten this year, and the next College!

ANYWAY........We haven't thought about hotels or transportation for the trip. We will likely fly down on Friday night. We usually stay at the Radisson, but I've noticed that there are a few more options now. I guess I'll have to check them out. Anyone stayed somewhere else that they'd recommend?

We're contemplating the various travel options right now. Not sure if we're going to fly down ($700 for the three of us), drive down (11 hour drive), or take the train ($115 but is a 12 hour trip).

We definitely want to get in early enough to be at the port by 11. I would even prefer to be there earlier.

I'm also starting to look at excursions and things, but I think I am going to plan my own. Like for St. Maarten, taxi to butterfly farm and do the tour, walk to horse ranch and go riding, taxi to Bikini Beach and swim for a couple of hours, taxi back to ship.

I think for St. Thomas we will just wander around near port and not make it too big of a day.

Jim

Yes they grow up way to fast.....

Just look at my little girl in my signature...

Speaking of which, what setting do you use to make it larger? My pic seems so tiny, no one can really see her. I would love for it to be a little bigger, but not get into trouble with the moderators....already had one warning for a picture being to big...:confused3

Hi all...

As much as I have enjoyed posting with all of you, DH and I decided to start a bit smaller for our first cruise. We have switched to the 3-day on the Wonder this same week. We will hit the parks for a few days first, then move on to the cruise. I have enjoyed meeting all of you!

Good Monday to all of my fellow cruisers!!! The summer weather is finally here in RI and we have been able to go into the pool and get the shorts out of the closets. :woohoo: Dreaming of some wonderful drinks on the deck of the Magic!!!! Can you tell I need a vacation?

Have a great day everyone.

WOOHOO  :dance3: :woohoo: :cool1:

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It is hot hot hot here...today is 98 with a heat index of 105. Good thing DS works at a pool..lol

Hey, it's hot here too. Oh wait... ;)

I can't believe it's still 7 months away. I wish it was today!!

Hey, if anyone has a 4-6 year old child who would like to exchange mail with another child (my daughter is 5) send me a PM and we can exchange addresses. Hannah is ready to draw some pictures and send them and start making some friends for the cruise!

Jim

Cheryl, looks like there will be a small pack o' 12ish year old boys for your Jake to hang out with! I know our son had a great time palling around with other boys his age from the DISboard and the club on board. We haven't told him about this vacation yet, but as the time draws nearer, we'll let him in on it and give him the website for the kids board so he can catch up! :)

Looking forward to it!

God bless you,

Sherry

Welcome, :cool1:

Your kids are the same age as ours. We have a DS 7 and a DD 3. All of us are novice cruisers so it should be fun!

We also have a thread for the kids to chat before they cruise.

Welcome aboard!!!:welcome:

Glad you found all of us!!!!

Did you decide on which category you are going to book?

I am still kicking the category type around tonight...actually stressing over it!! I started with category 9- now I am not sure. I think we would enjoy the open air but the verandah makes me a little nervous with a 3 year old.

Any thoughts??:confused3

By the way...I was just reading about how many people are celebrating their anniversary- We are celebrating 10 years!!!!
