January 19,2008 / Eastern Magic / "The January Thaw Cruise"

Beth....as the potential keeper of the bag list....do you tell us how many to bring?

Thanks,

che

ps...sorry they wouldn't let you go to Disney.

Thanks, I was within 10 miles of Disney, and couldn't go...I did get to go to the Disney store in the airport though...lol

We did spend 4 days at Universal, and to be honest, their express pass for their hotel guests has Disney's fastpass beat hands down.

Anyway, the DIS bag exchange...I am not sure how everyone else has done it...but we only made up one bag, and then when we had the DIS meet, it was sort of a free for all, and we just put the bags on a table, and picked one during the get together. Of course my obsessive compulsive side is leaning more towards drawing numbers....LOL

I did make some small things for everyone at the meet though...and we had a game of DIS tag too during the cruise.

Does anyone have any other ideas? :woohoo:

Hey everyone! Well im back and happy to be part of thie disboards once again. Well on the last cruise we went on with Bethipooh4 and my family and hers and some friends. We will be back once agian on the disney magic with Bethipooh4 and the gang! Well cant wait to see what everyone will be doing! Looking forward to the bag exchange!

I hope someone will be able to explain to me about the bag exchange and Dis tag! (And any other little "dis' things that I may need to know. I am a relative newbie to the Disboards and a virgin to Disney Cruising! I am soooo worried that I am going to miss something Dis related because I am a newbie.

But, thanks to these boards, I do have my clear shoe holder and suction hooks...

BTW - we will be arriving in Orlando on the 16th Jan for the cruise. I haven't booked a hotel yet - not sure if we were going to stay in Orlando for a few days or explore the coast. I am thinking we may just explore the coast because we haven't really done that. Is anyone else arriving early and up for a meet?

heyy i am 89% sure im joining you guys on this cruise im 17 and my sister is 16 we will both be this age on the cruise, my 2 grandmas are taking us on it! it will be my last one so i hope its amazing! anyone have teens??:cool1:

Hi Paigee10, I will have a son who is 17 on the cruise with us.

Kay,
The DIS meet is when all of us crazy diser's get together and are finally able to put a face to our names...have we decided on a time and place yet?

The bags are for anyone who wants to participate in it, you basically make up a bag with some things from your state(keychains, postcards, etc) last year mine had some UNC stuff in it, some Carolina Hurricanes things and lighthouse items, and some stuff from the base. When we get to the meet, we basically have a random drawing and if you bring a bag, you get a bag.

DIS tag was new to me last year, but during the course of the cruise, these giant ears were passed from door to door randomly(if we know room numbers) with little notes and well wishes. Last person who had in on the last day of the cruise kept it, but sent us all pics of it.

Because of our boys and school, we are flying in on Friday afternoon, staying at Sarasota Springs with RooDoll(about time you joined the thread, I don't care if you are in Guam or not!!!! Love ya and miss ya!!!!) and then going to the port on Saturday.

Here is a pic of our DIS tag ears...

Hello Thawer's

I'm a bit upset today and pretty angry at DCL, I got this email off Dreams and DCL have totally messed up our Cat 3 booking :sad1: It would have been great to have a bit of space from the kids, but I guess thats what the kids clubs are for right? It seems like most people dont get to see their kids much on a cruise because they never want to leave the clubs and would rather hang with their new friends instead of mom & dad! So with a bit of luck our girls will make some great friends and Steve & I will get a bit of peace and be able to relax a bit.

Here is the email Dreams sent me :sad2:

Hi Sam,

This is a very difficult e-mail to write because I am so angry! I contacted Disney Cruise Line within the time they gave you to accept this and 3 times after that with no response. I called today, demanded to speak to someone and found out the cabin was gone!! It seems the person holding it ‘accidentally’ released it back into inventory and someone else is now holding it.

I am still working on this and have calls into management but it doesn’t look good. L

They did assure me you were at the top of the list, for what that is worth.

I’m truly sorry and this was very unfair of them.

Sorry to hear that - it so sad - you were so excited. :grouphug: Here's keeping fingers crossed for some Pixie Dust for you.

Awww thanks guys, it would have been really special but there is nothing I can do about it so I guess there is no point in being upset.

I am just hoping that the kids have a great time and enjoy the clubs, its been one heck of a year and Steve and I really NEED this break, we are doing WDW before the cruise and Universal after it so thats all about the kids and making sure they have a great time, the cruise was something that I booked with the idea of Steve and I having a really great time doing adult stuff like enjoying a few beers, really relaxing and winding down and just being able to enjoy each others company.

Is it terrible that I am wishing my life away just waiting for this cruise? I swear the thought of sitting in the sunshine with a bahama mama is all thats keeping me going at the moment!

Hey, there is still a chance... It could still happen.

Just tell your kids they *are* going to the clubs, and then enjoy the quiet time with DH. That is what Neil and I are doing. You could book a spa villa for two, the exotic rasul or just some quiet time with champagne and desert in your cabin  or all of the above.

It's totally cool to have this wonderful cruise to look forward to and to dream about all those lovely cocktails :-)

The trip will be here before you know it....

I am so sorry to hear your bad news..Maybe something will open up soon, I have heard the closer it gets to the final payment being due, more tend to open up. I know we just made the decision to be waitlisted for a Cat 3 as well. Since its our anniversary we decided to splurge, provided its within our budget.

We spent 3 days at Universal Hard Rock hotel on our recent trip. What a great place, I am sure you will have a balst there too. Unfortunately because of the boys school, we are flying in Friday afternoon, and will only be at Sarasota Springs one night before the cruise.

I hope you get a call about the room soon.:wizard:

Gixer.....sorry about the missed cabin....but you never know...it is the year of a million dreams!!!

Welcome Autumnlala to the January Thaw Cruise:cheer2:  Will add you and your family to our growing list of DISERS:cool1:

Welcome aboard Autumnlala..we use to live in Memphis before we moved to NC. Gotta love the military!!

We got our passports, didn't take as long as I had been reading about on the main DIS Boards. We applied June 8, and they came in the last week of July while we were away. So barely even 8 weeks. And they weren't renewals, all 3 were new passports. The wierd thing is I got mine before my friend did, and she applied in April!!

Anyhow, once the boys go back to school next week, I will probably get going on the details for the bag exchange and such...

So who is going to be in charge of the DIS meet???:confused3

Welcome aboard!!! Glad to have you jump on with us.

Well, RI is hot again...close to 100 degrees!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to sip some cooooool drinks.

have a great weekend

che

Welcome Autumnlala, Looking forward to meeting you and all our new Disfriends.

Just bought a fish extender off ebay, so that is off my todo list!

Ordered DS a tux off Ebay for formal night (DH already has one) and found a neat Jack Sparrow Costume at Costco - so another couple of things done.

Still have to work out what to do for DH & I for pirate night! I fancy one of those full skirted pirate gowns, but don't know if that would be too much. Or even too much to carry in the luggage - its 5 months to go and I already have a box full of things to take with us!!!

Roll on January. I am sooo excited. :yay: :yay: :yay: I just hope that after all this, we are not the kind family that doesn't like cruising!

Dismeet - I would be happy to help work on this, but as I am a newbie, I really don't know what happens or even where to hold it.
