Hello all! I have been stalking the DCL website for the past few weeks for any Kids Sail Free rooms to come available over MLK holiday. We snagged cat 9 last week! Wahoo! This will be our first cruise (DCL or otherwise) ever! I am so excited (and dh is excited about the Exotic Rasul that I booked), but we are keeping the cruise a surprise for our kids (dd6 and dd2).

I'm sorry we'll miss out on the FE exchange, but I hope we can meet some DISers on our journey!

As an introduction, here's a picture! We've been to WDW many times as a family, but never on a cruise. This is us at Epcot in August '09...

Hey everyone....just wanted to stop in and say hello!! Hubby and I are on this cruise with our friends and their kids. This will be our 17th DCL cruise and their 3rd. Hubby is retiring on the 16th (the day we leave for Florida) so this is a great way to start his retirement!!

We surprised our kids on Christmas morning with the Maiden Voyage of the Disney Magic. We surprised them by getting t-shirts and wrapping them along with a certificate I made up on the computer. The only shirts they had at the DCL preview center at WDW were XL so they were all too large for the kids but they didn't care. They were just excited to be going on the cruise.

Here is a pic of them back on Christmas morning in 1997 and the following pic is a more recent pic on the Wonder.

Our friends are doing the dolphin excursion at Atlantis and we were going to do the Aquadventure excursion at Atlantis....but we have not made any decision yet.

Susan...your offer sounds intriguing....I will be thinking about it!!

Anyway, for everyone who this will be their first DCL cruise you will love it!!! I get just as excited going back for #18 as I did going on #1.

So, what are your shore excursions??? After reading about Nassau, I'm thinking we'll just take a cab to Atlantas and hang out there. (Getting a room, even at CS would cost us nearly $1000!) Anyway, we're just planning to wing it. I'll be running the 5 K on Castaway Cay. Actually, I'm running the half marathon before our cruise!!! So, a 5K will seem short!! Anyone else?

I remember!!! I think I posted that I was trying to get on the cruise you guys were on but then our plans changed last minute...we wound up on the January 17, 2009 Magic cruise and then hubby and I were on the Magic again this past September.

I think we are going to book the Atlantis Aquaventure excursion afterall.

Good luck with the half marathon!!! My dad always ran marathons (mostly the Marine Corps ones in Washington, D.C.) but he has also run them in many countries like Greece, France, Germany. I never had a desire to run but credit to anyone who can do it....

Hi Mintee, I've never used walkie talkies on a cruise before. Do you mind if I ask - do you think they are useful on the ship?

We loved using our walkie talkies with the friends that we went with. If you are traveling with another couple, give them one and you take one and then you can always find each other to meet up with.
My hubby and I used it on our last cruise when he wanted to nap and I was out and about OR when one kid wanted to do something that the other didnt do and we had to split up...easy way to find each other without having to go back to the cabin or pay a ridiculous cell phone text bill.

It especially comes in handy when trying to find your friends at Castaway Cay

Hello fellow cruisers!

We just booked this cruise about 10 days ago and rearranged our DVC vacation to do the cruise. My DH and I are certified DINKS, but love to cruise Disney. We will be celebrating our Birthdays which are both in January.

Any of you who are Cat. 12gty might want to check your room assignment. We were upgraded to a Cat.9 - Oceanview!!! I am doing the happy dance!
