January 15, 2012 - WONDERful Mexican Mickeys

Good Morning my fellow Mexican Mickey's!! Ok so there seemed to be a few of you who were confused on the web page. The first list is the roll call (everyone)and the second list was those in the FE.

Hi, can you please add me to the Roll Call?
(Amy from Rhode Island)

For those concerned with Deck 2 Forward, don't be! I find that if I'm feeling the motion to be uncomfortably rough, it's not any better elsewhere on the ship. The low deck helps quite a bit. Deck 2 forward is actually my favorite location because it's so convenient to the clubs. I was very glad to snag the 11C with an assigned room for this cruise.

I must admit, however, that I don't have a good sense of the noise bleed from the Deck 3 clubs into the Deck 2 cabins below since I usually don't crash before the clubs close.

Yes, the dolphins were my idea. My daughter and her boyfriend were in Cabo in August and went on the dolphin encounter and the boys were so excited to see them kissing the dolphins. We booked the kids encounter for them the second day in Cabo.

Think we might just get a glass bottom boat for the family the first day in Cabo, depending on how we all are feeling. I know DH and DS and DDIL want to hit a couple of the pubs and do some shopping in Cabo.

The kids and DGS's are doing the Pirate Cruise in PV. DH and I are doing the Mexican Cooking, sounds great.

Looking forward to meeting you. How old are your gorgeous kids?

Marilyn

The glass bottom boats were recommended to me by a lady I work with. Probably great for the kids. My boys are 11 and 7 and my daughter is 6 going on 18;)

I also heard the same thing. Maybe if a bunch of us go we could get a good deal. I heard people have gone for $15 a piece.

So I moved my room, same caty but moved to an open room about 7 rooms up. We are right by the aft elevators.....hopefully we will have a nice room with quiet travel.

I can't believe we are getting so close. I have decided to commission a graphic from our creative dis'ers, then make it into a puzzle, then cut it up and put a puzzle piece in each gift of theirs and then they open get the pieces and then when they are done opening gifts, they put them together. I am bursting with excitement for xmas!!:dance3:

We got our room assignment--09c 2020.

BTW, my 5 year old son is also celebrating his 5th birthday, in addition to it being our 1st cruise! Yay!

Does anyone know if our room selection is "good" for people with motion sickness? I am really sensitive to motion, so am hoping we got a good location....

Yes, we discovered that today. We did not ask for connected rooms, but it is rather convenient. Mom2Aidan2002's husband and my husband are first cousins and we have vacationed together before. We tried to get them go on the Alaska cruise with us but they said no. Then when the KSF promo came up for this cruise I put on my evil temptress hat and convinced them to come with us.

Yeah.....we are getting closer. Christmas Eve I am gonna be busting at the seams. I think I will be the parent waking up the kids to open presents. Hoping they are as excited as I think.

So is everyone packing our just me? I have to add a few more tees for the extra days we will be in la I will repack once the kids know and I can make sure I have everything.. Well off to get the tablet I ordered for one of the girls...finally came in at best buy.

Packed for the cruise? Not yet. I'm more of a last-minute packer. I just flew to WDW last night and didn't pack until 4.5 hours before my flight.

That is so cool! I don't know if I could convince my family to cruise with us. They don't think the $$ is worth the cost. Oh well, their loss :)

While I have not started physically packing, I have started my packing list. I tried on my formal wear two nights ago...that was depressing. Shows me how much weight I really have gained since my daughter was born. Most of it still fits, it just doesn't look good. I really can't afford to go out and by new fancy clothes and I like gettnig dressed up for dinner on the cruise. So, it's off to they gym I go. Most likely, I will pack on New Year's day. We've got my son's B-day on the 2nd, so the party will most likely be the next Saturday. I'm working Sunday the 8th (so I can take a comp day that week) since we leave for LA on 1/12/11.

Ok, I'm really jealous that you are in WDW right now. How long are you staying for? I can't imagine doing all my packing less than 5 hours before my flight. I usually have a pre-vacation ritual, which includes shopping for certain items that need to be packed so I don't have to worry that I'm going to still need it at home...helps with the packing. I need to start my pre-trip shopping soon, but I'm so busy with Christmas shopping I don't have the time or money :(

packing??? not yet..too much to do before the cruise..

packing will be stage then packing..I'll stage a few days before we leave and pack the night before we leave..

I guess I start packing now cause I have to pack for 4. I also tend to buy new things for the trip so I take all the new things and put them in a tote and I like there to be a color scheme most nights so it looks nice for pictures. The only things I need to do in the end is pack the everyday stuff which will be a carry on of everyones tablets, cameras, phones, chargers for all the devices, meds, etc. I think I am getting the girls vera Bradley bags for their tablets so they can carry them on board....hoping to find a perfect one to also fit cell phones, ipods, tablets, etc in it. My kids have all that and I didn't get my phone till 17...shoot pagers are what we had in high school...LOL and my kids have cell phones at 8/9....they are such the technology generation. My mom is like you got them tablets, and cells and etc for Christmas....I am like mom that is their generation....grandmas always wanna compare to when I grew up but I just think it's a different time.

Who all was thinking of maybe doing glass bottom boat in Cabo???

oh yes gotta color cordinate the family... when my kids were small, i always thought that each dinner was a good 2 page spread so i coordinated each outfit with the colors of the page as well as each other..LOL

Which day in cabo for the glass bottom boat? Have to talk it over with hubby as I told him to plan the second day in Cabo since that is the acutal date of our anniversary. We are doing the Scuba on the first day - so excited about that!

As for our kids...thankfully, there are no cell phones or tablets just yet. I'm hoping to hold off on the cell phones until they are in middle school when there is no before and aftercare available. I had hoped to hold off until they had jobs and could pay the bills themselves, LOL! But, I don't know if that will happen in this "day and age".

Well, since we are getting closer and closer and my DVC waitlist has not come through for us yet, it looks like we'll be staying at the Carousel Inn. I'm hoping it's better than some of the reviews.....

I looked around about the glass bottom boats. They seem to depart quite often and cost about $9-$15 dollars. It seems a bit like a taxi driver....drives you around about 45 minutes and then drops you at Lovers Beach if you want and then you can catch another boat back when you are done at Lovers Beach. Tickets can be bought from the docks/marina....I think we will just wait and see. Unsure if we will get off the boat the 2nd day......kinda depends on how we feel. sometimes it's nice staying onboard....kinda an emptier ship.

BTW I went to see what rooms are left for our cruise in case I wanna move and guess what.......NOT even an option to book that cruise.....we must be FULL!!!

I am so excited....40 days and counting....and only 20 days and I will be surprising the girls. Tomorrow is my bday.... Kinda broke from Christmas shopping and spoiling our girls, so not thinking we will do anything. Just think about what I wanna make for dinner. LOL Well off to volunteer at school...hope everyone is having a good day!

Wow, Michelle - it looks like we went from fairly empty to fairly full pretty quickly there. I don't remember if I saw it in this group or in another posting about the January cruises but I had heard that it was opened up to cast members for CM pricing. My SIL used to be a CM and we did cruise with her once on CM pricing...I remember it being VERY cheap, so I'm sure a lot of CM's would have jumped on that. I wonder if that's the reason for the very nice upgrade DH and I rec'd?:confused3

Just over 1 month now until we leave for CA, getting very excited. I'm almost forgetting that Christmas and Hanukkah are in the middle of that time and I really have to focus on those things first. although, if I don't get cracking on my FE, I'll never get it done, LOL!

Have a great day everyone!
