i LEAVE next WEDS!!!!!! 6 DAYS!!!!:banana: I wish I could get the southern cali deal of $99 FOR 2 days at DL. My family lives in Cali but unsure the stipulations, like do they have to show ID or whatever. Anyone from Cali wanna meet me?:lmao: I guess one day will have to do for me.

I am going around the home trying to remember the last minute things. sunglasses, ear buds for movies on the airplane, jewlery, etc. It's funny the things you would forget. Kids would die without sunglasses and I was sure to forget them. Also I took the ipods and tablets away for charging and packing....the girls will be jonesing for their technology by thurs. They are excited to skype their friends before we leave the port. OMG 6 days, GO FAST!!!!:):)

Finally, I can focus with this trip. Yay, 10 more days. Right here in LA is hot. I can't believe is winter :) I hope the weather is will be like this.

Hello everyone!!

Hope you all had great holidays!! Things were great at my house, but I have to say - I'm glad it's over. :lmao: Exhausting.

I'm feeling pretty ready to do. A few small details left like finding a fabric marker for the pillowcase and making some treat bags for the CM's that sign. I need to find a swimsuit for my DD5 but noticed that Target already has theirs out for this year :confused3 so I'll be able to pick her up one easily.

We leave next Saturday morning and are doing a whirlwind quick visit to DL that day after we land. Wish we had more time to spend in LA, but such is life.

Love seeing all the pictures and putting faces to names! I'm off to try and find a few of my daughter, the ex (yes, I'm sailing with the ex. We aren't your usual divorced couple lol) and myself. We can't wait to see everyone!

Guess I could have done these in one post, huh? Oh well. :rotfl2: This was Christmas Day.

Emily, you 2 look wonderful!!!! Justice has bathing suits now too. I am not sure they go small enough for your DD. I had to get my DD 11 her's at Justice. I got a great deal since they were running 40% off. Can't beat a new suit for $24. But if they are getting them I bet Children's place and Gymboree are too.

Somethings to remember...headphones for airplane, sunglasses, chargers for all devices, cameras, curling irons, deodorant...LOL
Well off to take Syd to dance....3 hours for her. I need to go to the mall to find a formal....wish me luck!!

great pics..thanks for sharing..

home from work..doing laundry..putting off exercising..so i am on the 'puter instead..LOL

But ONLY 8 DAYS for me..

SINGLE DIGIT days until the boat!!! We leave for CA in less than a week now. I took the suitcases down last night and I'm realizing, I need to borrow bigger suitecases :rotfl:

So, last night, i decided to make one more FE gift. What the heck was I thinking. BUT, in one night, I got 1/2 of them finished and got all the parts ready to make the second 1/2. When I'll have time to do them...not sure, i might just give up sleep.

Tomorrow is ds's birthday party (just family) and it is also my only day off between now and the cruise, so there is A LOT to get done. DH still won't commit to what clothes he wants to bring (he isn't really a planner) so looks like I'll be packing for him as well. I just can't let him walk around the ship naked :lmao:

Well, time for the day to begin. I'm getting so excited!!!!!

T minus 7 and counting...

I am in desperate need of a vacation and a hug:hug:
Just spent all night with my staff at my hospital who are upset and crying due to the announced closure of their units. :sad2: SO I am beyond stressed out. It is difficult to see so many great people losing their jobs, with less than a weeks notice. My grandmother always told me, "life's not fair". I still can't get use to it. (Thanks for letting me vent:goodvibes)

On a positive note I have all my FE together and packed. Hopefuly I will only have 3 more work days untill Mariachi and Margaritas. I can almost smell the sea air. Can't wait to get this party started.

I need vacation!!!

for many years, i packed kids and dh..but on the Alaska cruise in the summer, i let them pack themselves with my supervision..( i e made them show me what they were taking and i made suggestions..)
for this trip, i think i'll let DH pack his own stuff..( then i'll repack..LOL)

well 5 more works..7 days..next week at this time i'll be on the plane winging my way to vacation heaven..

What a crazy week this has been. I thought after the insanely stressful Christmas we had that I'd need this cruise. I need it just after the last week.

Christmas - With my wife's mom/maternal grandparents. Her dad (they're divorced) and step-mom live 15 minutes away from the grandparents and have better accommodations. My parents live an hour away from that. We were there for a week and I wanted to kill myself.

This week - Got back from Christmas on Sunday and our DS1 has been waking up vomiting and diarrhea every night except last night. Monday night we had to stick him in the tub at 2:30 in the morning he had thrown up so much. Then our washing machine went out Wednesday evening with a full load of vomit covered towels and PJs. We finally (all 3 of us) slept through the night last night.

Why can't we be sailing this weekend? I'm (mentally)ready to go now. The washing machine is being fixed right now according to my DW, so we probably won't smell like week old laundry on the cruise.

Why do appliances always break when a kid is throwing up or you are about to go on vacation?? It's like the appliances know, or something, and purposely plot against you. We had a similar thing happen last year with our water heater and it's total murder recovering from the mountain of laundry!

Of course yesterday I learned that our dryer would cost $500 to repair, so guess who is going dryer shopping as soon as we get back from the cruise? (Thankfully, it's somewhat functional until then. We just have to unplug it to make it turn off.)

I think we have most of our cruise prep work under control except for an actual fish extender. The thread that showed up recently about the duct tape fish extender is looking mighty tempting right now.... especially since I could then delegate that to-do item to my husband. :lmao:

The washing machine ended up being $380 for a new pump. It was totally clogged. I bought it with my American Express and they automatically push the warranty out so hopefully they'll cover the cost. I'm just glad we were able to get someone in today. I guess they had an opening.

its awesome when you can get someone in fast. I know we have a list of 3 plumbers we've come to rely on because they are all independent and its always like dialling for dollars to find one who can come right away. I'm glad you were able to get a repair person in quickly!

On a positive note I have all my FE together and packed. Hopefuly I will only have 3 more work days untill Mariachi and Margaritas. I can almost smell the sea air. Can't wait to get this party started.

Jeanne - I work in a hospital as well. It is the hardest thing to watch them close a unit. It's hard to say but sometimes you've got to just be grateful it wasn't your unit and that you will have a job to come home to.

Great job on the FE stuff. I'm still working on mine and trying to figure out if I can get everything done that I wanted to do for it.

You let your DH pack??? Oh my...my DH never has packed for a cruise...it's a bit of a surprise to him what he is wearing. The only thing he knows is I pack him his suit:rotfl:

Michelle - See, here's the thing, if I don't pack for DH, he'll show up with no ties, no dress shoes and 2 pair of pants for 11 days.

well 5 more works..7 days..next week at this time i'll be on the plane winging my way to vacation heaven..
While I can't get DH to pack, even with supervision, at least I got him to try on some stuff last night and it's a DAMN good thing. He's been working out for about 18 months now and he doesn't realize that he has bulked up (even though he thinks he's 'fat'") - well, he can't get his arms into his dress shirts, LOL! So, his quest for today is to go to the store, any friggin' store, and buy at least 3 dress shirts - a minimum of 1 white shirt. I hope he can accomplish this task.

David - I hope your son is feeling better soon. Your Christmas weeks sounds wonderful - NOT! I think you deserve the "I need this cruise" award.

A few months ago our washer stopped working, well in acutality it stopped draining. Well, with DH being a mechanic he figured we'd just look at the problem ourselves. It turns out there was a sock (or something like that) stuck in the drain filter. As we opened up the drain line, water went EVERYWHERE! We thought we had it under control with the wet-vac and tons of towels. Then we saw the blockage...when I pulled that out it was like a tidal wave. In the end, we had a good sense of humor about it and we laughed so hard while we tried to save the rest of our kitchen from flooding. So, lesson learned...every 6 months or so, clean out the drain pipe. LOL!

Of course yesterday I learned that our dryer would cost $500 to repair, so guess who is going dryer shopping as soon as we get back from the cruise? (Thankfully, it's somewhat functional until then. We just have to unplug it to make it turn off.)

Camille - you too with the appliances - I've got to stay away from you people, I don't need anything breaking right now.

Didn't that Duct Tape FE look GREAT! I still have to put the edging on mine (I've been saying that for about 2 weeks now) and I'm hoping to get that done today or tomorrow.

Well, after fighting it and fighting it for a few days now...I've officially lost my voice and have some sort of upper respiratory infection. I'm hoping this all clears by Wednesday. I've decided that we need bigger suitcases so I'm going to borrow from my parents. Today is my last day off before we leave and it is already filled with things to do....DH and I have Pilates at 10 and we have a family birthday party for ds (8 years old) at 4 - we still need to get goodie bags and food. I'm working Sunday through Wednesday. So, here's the to do list...
laundry, pack for DH and I, pack for ds and dd, finish FE, finish FE gifts, print door magnets (?), itinerary for family, child care stuff for my parents, pilates on Tuesday night and awards ceremony for dd on Wednesday night - she's was star student of her class for November. I think that's it...phew! I cannot wait to finally be on vacation, the prep for it is slowly killing me.

Michelle - See, here's the thing, if I don't pack for DH, he'll show up with no ties, no dress shoes and 2 pair of pants for 11 days.

I pack for DH , as I like having our families match colors or at least not clash, I mean we have a theme... formal night(black and white), Pirate(red, black and white), Mexican( mexican looking clothing), and so on. Plus he would grab nasty old work shirts to wear if I let him.
