January 14, 2010 3 night Wonder

If there are cabin changes how would you like to handle letting us know?

How about...

If you know your room change before January 12, please send me a PM.

If you find out after January 12, please leave me a note outside my stateroom or a voicemail- by 6pm if at all possible.

I will bring hard copies of the participant info with me so that I can update them with any last minute room changes and drop them by each room early evening on the night we set sail.

Does anyone think we need a cut off date for new participants? :confused3

Which activity are you most looking forward to?

Which food/drink are you most looking forward to?

What excursions are you interested in or have you booked?

Did you make a special request for early or late dining or for your dining rotation?

Are you planning to run the 5K on Castaway Cay?

Are you or your children excited about the kid clubs?

Are character autographs a Disney vacation must for your family?

Is anyone in your group celebrating a birthday or anniversary during the cruise?

Are you going to Disney World immediately before or after the cruise?

:surfweb:

  • Warm weather

    Escargot and Mickey bars

    No excursion interest

    Late dining

    Run a 5K - are you crazy?!? :dance3:

DD is not thrilled with Aloft but will check it out anyways the first night.

Depends on the mood and line if we still get autographs from characters. But we like to get CM's to sign the autograph book.

    No celebrations this cruise.

We fly in the night before the cruise and will stay at our house and then go back to the house after the cruise and spend 2 days at WDW before flying to the 'real' house Monday night.

Cabin changes sound good so far, but why don't we let you know by 4:30 instead of 6:00 since early dinner starts at 5:45? I would think everyone would know of a cabin change before we set sail.

I think a reasonable cut-off date would be Dec. 31st unless anyone is making gifts and would need more time.

jilljill- congrats on being a new moderator (or as tnRobin said my condolences, lol)

Which activity are you most looking forward to?
WonderQuest
Which food/drink are you most looking forward to?
Konk Kooler- I love those things; also Palo chocoalte souffle
What excursions are you interested in or have you booked?
No excursions- just relaxing on CC and avoiding peril in Nassau
Did you make a special request for early or late dining or for your dining rotation?
Late dining APT rotation although I will probably be switching request to TAP for Palo reasons
Are you planning to run the 5K on Castaway Cay?
If I'm up that early, always wanted to do it
Are you or your children excited about the kid clubs?
All college students, no kids here
Are character autographs a Disney vacation must for your family?
I like pictures, don't really do autographs anymore although I have four full books at home
Is anyone in your group celebrating a birthday or anniversary during the cruise?
Nope :(
Are you going to Disney World immediately before or after the cruise?
Nope, live in Florida so just driving straight to and from the port

Thanks SplashMountainManiac

What is WonderQuest?

WonderQuest is the same as MagicQuest if you have ever done that. It is done in Wavebands and is kind of an adult scavenger hunt. You get into teams of 4 or 5 and then the entertainment host gives you a laminated number. He or she will ask for something such as bring me a man wearing high heels, bring me an officer, bring me a sock with a hole in it, etc. and the faster your team gets up there with the number the higher your score. The winners then get a prize. Its awesome. On the 3-nights its usually on the last night, 7-nights usually on the first night.

Thanks for the explanation, never did it on either ship.

If 4:30 is reasonable for all, that would be even better for us. That way we can drop off the final/updated lists before the show (we have late dining).

Dec. 31st sounds good too. Thanks! :thumbsup2

We're looking forward to snorkeling at CC. I would also like to try to catch some of the ship tours. WonderQuest sounds fun!

Joel is looking forward to trying brunch at Triton's (if they have it- does anyone know?) and I am looking forward to eating whatever I want, whenever I want- and I don't even have to cleanup after! :rotfl: (Maniac- I have a great, simple recipe that might compete with Palo's chocolate souffle if you're interested (courtesy of Disboarder jenanderson).

No excursions for us this time.

We will have late dining. The rotation will be a surprise.

We will not be running unless we are being chased...even then, maybe not. Props to all that do tho! :thumbsup2

No kids yet- 3 labs. So far DCL does not have accommodations for them.

I would like to have photos and autographs with the characters, but feel guilty if I get in line since we don't have children. I did just order the Disney Character Encyclopedia for autographs- just in case a line is short...:rotfl2: (Maniac- 4 books full!? Wow!, jilljill- getting CM autographs is a great idea!)

Our 13th wedding anniversary is just 3 days before we set sail. :lovestruc Both of our birthdays are in December but we are trying not to think about that.

Just a quick trip this time- driving down the morning of the cruise. At least that is the plan for now... (Maniac and jilljill- so jealous!)

No brunch at Triton's, but they are open for a sit down breakfast and then a sit down lunch. The menus are posted outside the restaurant before each meal.

Do not feel guilty for standing in line for autographs, they are there for everyone to get pics and autographs. We've stood in line many times before DD was born at WDW and many times in line on the ships when she's been in the clubs.
I don't remember how many books DD has, probably 7 or 8 if not more. She's been going since she was 5 months old, usually 2 or 3 times a year.

We just bought our vacation house down there this past May, couldn't pass up the real estate deal. I like being able to watch the MK fireworks from the front of the house and hearing the train whistle all day. We are 2.2 miles from the Contemporary parking lot. But we will still have to come back to cold DE afterwards.

Thanks for the info and encouragement jilljill! :flower3: I'm getting in line this time!

Anyone know what the water temp is like at Castaway Cay in January? I read that it will likely be in the low 70s, but how does that translate? Will I need a wetsuit to keep me warm? :confused3

I was in Castaway Cay in November and the water was already freezing cold, I could barely stand having my feet in the water.

You are most welcome for the info.

I think warm and freezing are all relevant in terms of temps. I grew up at the DE beaches and was used to the ocean in the low 70's. We have friends that live in Las Vegas and they keep their pool heated at 90-92 degrees year 'round. That was too hot for me when it was 112 degrees outside.
Basically I gave you no helpful info and probably confused you even more. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:
I think it really depends on where you are traveling from and what outside temps you are used to.
SMM, when you say freezing do you know what the actual temp really was?

I believe Clayton said 72 degrees which for a Floridian is freezing, lol. However when I lived in Michigan I probably would have hoped right in.

Wow, that is low for this time of year. Yup, being from a cold weather place that is warm and what I grew up with here in DE.

I am new to all this, but I think I want to join the fish extenders group. I am a little nervous about what is expected. It will be me, DD 11, DS 7( turns 8 the next week) and my mom. This is all of our first disney cruise and the kids first cruise ever. This is only my second cruise.

This is our first Disney Cruise for my whole family. Its going to be myself, DD9, Neice 14, my cousin and her 3 children DS11, DD11 and DS9. I would love to meet everyone if there is going to be a meet scheduled. Will someone let me know?:woohoo:
