January 11, 2014 Eastern Cruise

Hi Disneyfanatics,

Good thing you display your pins. If you wore them on a lanyard, you wouldn't be able to move!
I have to admit, I'm a big time Harry Potter fan. I have a room dedicated to just that. I know from reading the Disboards that some folks think of Universal as the "Dark Side", but since I was a HP fan before the Park, I think I'm OK!

Brenda

I am really excited and so anxious to book Palo's and we are going to try Remy's since we will be celebrating our 55th anniversary. I think that rates the extra cost of Remy's.

Won't be long. Time seems to be going by pretty fast. Trying to get my Christmas shopping early so I can concentrate on the cruise.

I've asked this in one of the facebook pages, but I know not everyone is on there. Anyone staying at the Residence Inn the night before we sail? What about the Hampton Inn? Both at the port. Just curious, trying to lock down a room, but would be fun to be with other Dis-ers. :)

We're staying at the Country Inn and Suites. I have decided to go to college since the boys are almost grown, and I wanted a career change. I'm taking 4 classes this semester. I can't wait to go on this cruise!!:yay:

That's great!! Happy anniversary, early.

Thanks so much, we are excited for the cruise. Can't wait. My husband fell about 3 1/2 weeks ago and spent a week in the hospital and 2 1/2 weeks in rehab. He came home today. Boy are we ready for this cruise.

Looking forward to meeting everyone. I said it before, but you can recognize us, as we both drive red scooters. If you see us, be sure and say "Hi",

Peg

Peg,
I hope your husband is feeling better.

Brenda,
I can't imagine the number of lanyards I would need for my pins. It started out as in inexpensive souvenir for the kids. Now it is a tiny bit of an obsession my little sister says I need therapy for.:confused3 One year she thought she'd be funny by taking my picture every time I stopped to pin trade. Needless to say she stopped taking pictures before I stopped pin trading.;)

Just wanted to send an update. Our friend Peter has decided not to go with us on the cruise, so it will be just my husband and myself. Wow, this is the first vacation alone for my husband and I since I think our honeymoon back in 1990. Looking forward to checking out the adults only areas of the ship.

Please remove Peter from the fish extender exchange list.

Hi everyone! Now that graduations, grad parties and summer vacations are over - it's time for me to start PLANNING for this cruise!!

We sailed this same Itinerary back on the Magic, in July 2001 -on our FIRST EVER DCL CRUISE!! We just went to the beach near where the ship docked in St Maarteen, and when docked in St Thomas, we actually went to St John's/Trunk Bay on our own!

Not sure what we want to do this time around.....

What is everyone else thinking of doing???

We did the same as you, our first cruise in 2001 on the Magic was this same itinerary. Last time around we did an island tour that included a submarine ride at St. Maarten and an island tour at St. Thomas.

This time since it is just my husband and myself, we are thinking of just going around the dock area at St. Maarten for a while and doing a tour to St. John on the St. Thomas day. We don't do beaches and my husband does not swim, so snorkeling excursions are out of the question. I think we will just relax and take it easy on the ship most of the St. Maarten day. ::MinnieMo::MinnieMo

We have been on this itinerary or similar a few times. Out favorites are St. John Eco tour and the 13 meter regatta in St. Martin.

We are big HP fans as well as Disney fans... It's all Magical, so why not!! pixiedust:

We are HOPING to pull together enough pennies for one day at Universal for Harry Potter, too...weekend we get back, probably on Sunday. Our son (8) is a HUGE HP fan, and we want to get him there while he's totally into it. However....DON'T TELL OUR KIDS if you meet them!! We're hoping to keep it a SURPRISE!!! :rolleyes1

We'll be staying at Saratoga Springs on friends' DVC points. We are hoping to be able to borrow a local friend's (DCL cast member) car, but if not, does anyone have a brilliant way to get over to Universal and back without breaking the bank? :confused3

Hi all,
looking forward to sharing this 'pre-cruise' fun with all of you! :flower3:
