January 10, 2013 - 3 Night Bahamian S.S. Member Cruise

Good luck to those of you who will participate! I did the family 5K at Disney in January. I walk with difficulty, had my braces on and it took me over 3 hours, but as my family says, I did it! I hope you get to do one too!

It's on the Friday of Marathon Weekend. Others in my family did it in 2010, this year some did the 1/2 marathon, but 7 of us did the Family 5K! We're looking at 2014 to do things again.

The Halloween cards are coming in and I appreciate them all!

As we get closer, lets try to set up a meet before the cruise. We'll be at AKV Kidani. I really hope that the Top of the World lounge at BLT will become available for all DVCers as it is now.

There was a 5K at CC on September's MC, so that's encouraging for those that want one on our cruise!

Best wishes to all on the east coast or where ever you are and are affected by this storm! My family (mother and sister) has evacuated Cape May NJ and hopefully are in a safer area in Toms River NJ. Friends have reported seeing pictres of water in the streets of Cape May.

We are staying at the Hyatt the night before. As far as a meet, in Sept we all met on deck at the sail away party..opposite the jumbo torn . We had a great photo and got to say hi to everyone at the party. Some characters even came by for photos with us! That was nice and gave everyone plenty of time to get settled etc. and ready for the party. Then we were able to look out for each other on the cruise. What do you think?

Sounds like a great idea. I know someone mentioned a meet up at Pink.. I think that's what it's called? I've only ever been on the wonder but is the deck similar as in 2 levels?

What deck area are you asking about?

There is a deck above the pool deck that you can stand on and see below. We watched the fireworks from the top deck while also watching the pirate party below.

I'm thinking that people at WDW before the cruise may want to meet and I'm hoping that the TOTW lounge will be opened for all DVCers then, but we won't know that until much nearer the cruise. I would be willing to co-host a party, my DSis/DCuz think its a good idea too.

We would be interested in meeting up if we can. We already have dinner plans at 5pm the night before the cruise though so we'd have to meet up later. Also, we were planning to do Welcome Home Wednesdays if they have it that week. Maybe people want to meet up there?

That's a good idea, the Welcome Home Wednesday. I think my group would be open to that, too.

I would prefer a bit later than 5ish if the meet was at TOTW, something closer to the fireworks time because the food menu there isn't much. I do hope that venue is available, since we're not staying at BLT.

When we were on the '05 Member Cruise DVC had a party for everyone on site. It was at Pleasure Island. Was there any sort of DVC celebration before the last MC?

Hi all, haven't been on in a week because we were in for a hit from Hurricane Sandy. You might have seen Long Beach, NY on the news...we're the next town over. We are all fine, but lost 2 cars to salt water damage. We live in a 2nd floor apt., so our living quarters were not hit, but still no power,heat, etc. I'm on the computer now because of the kindness of family members. It's like a war zone down there. We're all staying with family, but we are all OK, and that's what really matters. Probably won't be at home for a while.

But on to Disney matters, got Halloween cards...thanks!! And a meet on the ship is a great idea. I don't think we can do one the night before, because we only land at MCO at 7 pm. Staying at the Wilderness Lodge Villas the night before.

God bless you. Thankful you are okay. My heart is with all of those affected by the hurricane. I am from New Orleans and would not wish that experience on anyone. I wish you all the best in your recovery.

I will be coming into Orlando the day of the cruise so we won't be able to attend the precruise meet, but am willing to attend an onboard meet. First time on the Dream so I will leave it up to you guys as to the location. (Am I crazy to come in the day of?)
