I personally feel they should do it all over again, as she was 8,100 votes behind McBride. If the Poll workers cannot Plug in the New machines properly, how do we know they counted right??

But why were the the most problems in the 3 wards that are made up of mainly democratic voters while the rest of the state had litle problems???

Not only are the voters mostly Democrats, but the Supervisor of Elections (an ELECTED official) in the counties with problems are all Democrats. This the ELECTED official who is in charge of running the election.

not in the unofficial polls shown on tv the day before the vote. she was only ahead by a few percentage points

McBride has pulled ahead of Janet Reno in the week before the election in part due to negative advertising against McBride by Jeb. McBride's campaign had anticipated Jeb would try to get the weaker candidate selected in the Democratic primary and had prepared very effective counter adds back in March that they released shortly after the first Bush negative ads.

Both Democratic and Republican polls show that McBride is a stronger candiate against Jeb (hence the dirty tricks and negative ads) and that Reno would not be as strong a candidate. If McBride is the nominee, you can expect a great deal of DNC funds to come into Florida and a fairly close election where anything can happen (i.e. the Democrats have not yet unleashed their best attacks on Jeb)(there is so much to work with).

My favorite episode was when Reno's stormtroopers raided the house, guns drawn, to get Elian. It reminded me of the first scene in Star Wars. I expected the door to explode & Darth Reno to bust through.

Supervisor of Elections in Dade County is not elected. He is appointed by the Dade County Comissioners. Elected in Broward County.
I am actually happy Reno lost as I don't trust her at all. McBride will be a more difficult opponent for Bush. Should be a good fight.
Btw I am po'd with the Republicans right now as their access to county executive meetings for handicapped members stinks.
