Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

Congratulationson 148.8!!!! I will be SUPER excited to see that again!

Woohoo! Great job on the weight! :woohoo: :cool1:  :thumbsup2

That is a little creepy about the jogger. How bizarre!

I love the bars. I actually smuggled one into the movie theater last week so I would not be tempted to get popcorn or candy. I think I'll do that from now on!

I still need to see Capote. I want to make sure he deserves the Oscar. Joaquin Phoenix is such a great actor and he gets screwed everytime he gets nominated (I loved him in Gladiator). I mean, he did all his own singing in Walk the Line!

I noticed you increased your walk/jog time. Awesome, keep it up! :cheer2:

I've got to learn my lesson. When I don't eat enough protein and calories in the morning I got nutz in the afternoon. You'd think I'd learn!

#4 1 banana, taco pasta, 6 choc squares
#5 2 chicken wings & 4 bites of a red potato w/butter
#6 2 lf cheese w/ spicy cheez its

I don't feel hungry in the morning but in the afternoon I'm ravenous.

Today -
no workout
#1 protein shake, 4 choc squares
#2 lunch w/Mom: fruit plate w/ taragon chicken salad, 4 bites of a pita
#3 ham and lf cheese roll up, 2 mocha bars

I actually got in a 15 minute free weight workout at 7:30pm. :cheer2:

Beth, thanks for stopping by! Now, I've just got to hang onto the 140's in spite of my eating!

Amy, both actors were excellent. I liked both movies but they were totally different. Walk the Line was definately easier to watch. I was glad Reese Witherspoon received an award for her performance. Wasn't Joaquin excellent in The Village? I loved that movie! (I made ds watch it after I did!) You're not trading Brad in are you? I can't believe we both agree on the same actor!

Jane, you're doing great!! I think you're in the 140's for good now, and nowhere to go but down!! :sunny:

I've missed stopping in here all week, I had the week from Hell at work, I normally only go in the office twice and do the rest at home. this week I was there every day and therefore my exercise was 0.

I haven't seen Capote yet, DH isn't interested, and I've been trying to rent it to watch some evening while he's not home. So far its always checked out. Last night I had a free coupon at Blockbuster, but all the newer things I was interested in were gone. Instead we got Pleasantville, haven't seen that one in a long time, and I had forgotten Reese Witherspoon (very young) was in it as the sister.

Keep up the good work and have a good weekend.

Be sure to eat your protein in the morning! It really does help. Have you tried the chocolate oatmeal? I've found that is VERY filling, and I am usually not interested in my mid-morning snack (but of course I eat it anyway  ).

Great job getting that workout in late in the evening! That is dedication! :cheer2:

No way, I will never trade in Brad "The Dreamboat" Pitt :lovestruc ! But Joaquin is awesome in pretty much any role he plays. I also loved The Village and I loved his character in Signs. Reese definitely deserved her Oscar. She is so cute and always very classy at the Awards shows. I saw a blurb on her and she said that after she recorded all her songs for Walk the Line they sent her a CD of her songs and she was playing it in her car and her son (I think he is 4 or 5) told her to turn it off because he hates that music! :rotfl:

Keep up the good work! Next time you are tempted to eat junk, remember how happy you were when you hit the 140's and how much you don't want to see 150 anymore!

#4 protein bar
#5 2 lf cheese and one banana

Today's meals
#1 protein drink
#2 LC chicken dinner, cereal bar
#3 protein bar
#4 1 lf cheese & 1 apple

I have no idea what we're having for dinner tonight. Dh and I are both tired from working and neither of us are cooking tonight!

No workout but I ran around alot at work. I'm constantly on the move there.

Kate, I'm sorry you had a hard week. I hope you get caught up at work and are able to workout this upcoming week. Thanks for checking up on me.

Amy, I still haven't bought any chocolate protein shake powder. I think I might finally remember to buy some this week. I've also got to get some pudding & more Cool Whip lite so I can make the mousse.

I saw Reese in an interview when Walk the Line first came out & she said she kept trying to get out of the movie while it was filming. Its such a good part I couldn't figure out why. Have a great weekend - watch out for those martinis!

I had no idea what we were doing for dinner either but Dennis was like hey shakes sound great and they were!

I loved walk the line but am definitely going to have to see Capote.

Your day looks pretty good! Especially for a weekend! :cool1: We are going to be having protein shakes for dinner tomorrow (and the kids are having Lunchables, which they will love!) because DD has ballet and DS has a baseball game right after and there is no time to get in a decent dinner!

We are going to get back in serious mode now. Do you have any personal goals to reach before summer gets here? My goal is pretty much the same. Look better in my bikini before my Mexico trip...

We ended up having a South Beach egg wrap for dinner Saturday night. We were both too worn out to make dinner.

Yesterday we went out for Sunday Brunch. We slept in until 11:30pm & then headed over for brunch about 12:30. We split an eggs benedict w/ potatoes and fruit. Then we each ordered a flourless chocolate cake w/raspberry and white choc sauce. So good! They're only $2.95 apiece - they're small so I told dh I wanted my own. I also had 2 mimosas.

#2 granola bar
#3 2 lf cheese & 10 pretzels
#4 5 nachos, 2 glasses of champagne

Today I woke up and did a 45 minute full body workout. Breakfast was a protein shake, a bowl of oatmeal & one fresh pineapple slice. I looked at the calories on the maple syrup & WOW! that stuff is high in calories. I always thought it was ok because of no fat grams. Think again! I used just a little and then added cinnamon. No more syrup. I want my excess calories to come from important stuff like chocolate and champagne!

I think I might make the turkey meatloaf. I'll probably change my mind a milliion times before I get to the grocery store.

Beth, smart idea having protein shakes for dinner. Whenever I have a shake for a meal, I know that I don't have to worry about calories & fat grams. I wish I'd do that more often. It seems to help me lose weight!

Amy, another person having a protein shake for dinner! Now you both have me thinking! If I'd do that 2 times a week I bet I'd lose weight faster. I should reverse what people normally do and instead - eat breakfast, lunch & have a shake for dinner. At night is when I pick up all of my calories. Having a teenager and a husband to cook for makes it harder for me but I really need to try that.

Amy, I definately have a goal for this next month. My mother's 90th birthday is next month!!! I usually plan her birthdays and this time my older brother has taken over. I'm so thankful!!! :bounce: He's doing a great job.

However, I want to lose about 10 more lbs for the party. I would love to be in the 130's in 6 weeks. Some of the people coming haven't seen me since I weighed in at 135-138. My goal is to hit 139. That way they won't think I've gained weight & the relatives saying that I weighed 180 were lying!! :rotfl2:

Last time I weighed in the 130's I wore a size 8. I'm still in a 12 and only 10lbs away. Guess I need to increase my workouts. Last time I did a lot longer & harder workouts than this time. Just goes to show - the workouts do make a difference.

You can try Sugar Free syrup. It's not as thick, but it tastes the same to me!

I'm glad to hear that working out really makes a difference! I am going to try to increase my workouts, since obviously I am not doing great in the food department...

That is a great goal you have! Does your mom know she is having a party? I bet she is excited!

Let's get focused and show our bodies whose boss! :cheer2:

I love what you want to spend your extra calories on. That's me 100% except instead of champagne I'd prefer a margarita. :teeth:

What types of plans has your brother made for your mom's birthday?

My weight today was 148.4!!!!! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc

I got in two workouts yesterday! In addition to my 45 minute weight workout in the morning, I walked for 30 minutes in the late afternoon. Since I usually get bad cravings in the afternoon I decided to walk at that time. It helped.

My dinner last night was the Zesty Italian Chicken. Also, I finally made the choc mousse. Its really really good!

This morning I did a 30minute yoga workout and a 30 minute bike ride.

Meal #1 protein shake
#2 1/2 ham/turkey sandwich on ww w/lf cheese, 1 banana
#3 I took a leftover chicken breast from last night & threw it on a bed of lettuce w/ carrot stix on the side. I used lf Italian dressing - 2g of fat per 2T.
I also made more choc mousse for dinner tonight.

For dh's dinner I'm using the grilled salmon recipe from the EFL book. Since I hate salmon I won't have any. I also bought shrimp - figured I'd do a shrimp cocktail, and I may have that for dinner.

Amy, I've revved up my workouts in hope of losing 10 more lbs! I really need this weight to come off! I'm tired of lugging it around! You were so right about that choc mousse recipe. I love it!

Mom knows about her party, and she is excited. I planned the one for her 80th birthday & hired a "bag lady". It was priceless. We could see the bag lady walking up to the restaurant and Mom motioned to me - "look how that lady is dressed!" The next thing Mom knew - the lady was in the restaurant yelling Mom's name and then sitting on her lap! It was great. Mom was embarassed and the rest of us loved it!

Beth, its funny you should mention margaritas. I use my margarita glasses for the chocolate mousse. Its been ages since we've made margaritas & my glasses were getting dusty in the diningroom hutch! I've found a new, healthy use for them! They're the perfect size for dessert. As for my mom's party, my brother has been busy contacting relatives, selecting a restaurant, & making reservations. He calls me periodically to go over the details. This is the first one I haven't had to plan & its great!

hey Jane, you're doing awesome!! Keep up the good work. You are IN the 140's and not going back up!! :sunny:

I'm glad you like the mousse! I have to make some more this weekend...

You are doing great! I better get in gear before you pass me up! ;)

What a fun idea to hire a bag lady for your mom's b-day! I bet she will have fun no matter what your brother plans for her.

When is the last time you tried salmon? You should try it again - you might like it if it is prepared differently.

I don't know about your margarita glasses, but I could fit about 3 servings of mousse in mine! :teeth:

For my final meal yesterday I had one shrimp and a chocolate mousse.

My workout today was 35 minutes of jog walks.

#1 protein shake, 1 slice of fresh pinapple & 2oz of carrot, celery, apple juice.

Kate, how's your soccer season going? I noticed your new soccer signature. You must be swamped with stuff to do.

Amy, your workouts are amazing. I'm trying to catch up both workout wise and weight wise! I had salmon about a year ago. Its okay but I'd rather not eat it. The same with mushrooms and spinach. Last night, I decided to take all the foods that dh likes and I hate and make him one dinner! He loved it!

I can't believe you can stop at 1 shrimp and 1 piece of pineapple! I think I singlehandedly at 4 whole pineapples on the cruise...

Your DH is pretty lucky to get spoiled like that!

You are really doing great! I think you've found that extra motivation to really make some progress towards your goal! :goodvibes

Yesterday I got a little off track. While watching the news I found out that the symphony was having a Wizard of Oz performance last night. They showed the movie on a big screen and then played all the music live. The movie had voices but no music. It was really strange hearing the symphony play Wizard of Oz music. I quickly bought tix over the phone. Dh wanted to know why I like The Wizard of Oz so much. He was a little reluctant but he went.

It was fantastic! I had a great time. They had a costume contest before hand so the kids were dressed up like characters. Also before the movie they had Margaret Pelligrini, the youngest munchkin, speak. I also got an autographed picture at intermission. I ran to her table, got her autograph, and then dh & I each got a glass of wine. We went outside and took a walk along the bayfront. When we came back in it was time for the movie to start. There were about 75 people who were still waiting and not able to get autographs. My leg workouts definately paid off - I was able to beat a bunch of people! There are 9 munchkins alive but only 6 can travel. I'm guessing she must be about 83 or so. She was dressed up in her flower pot hat outfit.

Meal #2 yesterday turkey, lf cheese wrap, banana

Meal #3 BFL choc mousse

Meal #4 Wendy's jr bacon cheeseburger - I know! I love those burgers. When I used to get them I'd get a frosty to go with it!

1 glass of wine at intermission.

Meal #5 I was really hungry when I got home last night. I had spicy cheez-its and lf cheese (I kept thinking I should have an apple with it.) I also had a glass of wine zinfadel.

I also forgot to put for day before yesterday I had 3 lf mozz stix.

Today I did a 30 minute bike ride. Its tough trying to work up my time and intensity on the bike. I also did the 10 minute upper body workout and the 10 minute lower body workout from BFL for women. Doing the workout after riding my bike helped. I was tired & the lower body workout was just right. I love it to supplement my workouts but its not nearly as tough as the real BFL workouts. ANyway, I got in a total of 50 minutes today!!! :goofy:

#1 banana & SB meal replacement bar

I just figured out that SB has two products: cereal bars and meal replacement bars. I hadn't figured that out until I went to the store & wondered why the price on their bars had gone up. I bought a package of each. I'd been using the cereal bars as meal replacement bars!

Amy, shrimp isn't one of my favorites so its easy to stop at one or two. I like getting in the extra protein but I generally share my shrimp with the dog. Pineapple is a different story. I love it! Thankfully, it doesn't cause me to lose control like milk chocolate or jalapeno cheese! At least you ate healty on the cruise! I don't remember even seeing pinapple but I never did the buffet table. For that kind of money I wanted to be waited on! I was the only person in our party who made it to every single meal at the table.

Great job on the workouts! And at least you skipped the Frosty and got a Jr-sized burger. That is progress! :thumbsup2

We ate dinner in the dining room every night on the cruise (we had a table for 4, which was nice) and if we even had lunch we got chicken fingers, wraps or pizza from Deck 9. We went to the breakfast buffet once and it was too crowded to find a seat. After that, we went to a dining room every morning for breakfast. They have a fruit station right next to the ice cream, with cut up pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries and grapes. I got lots of platefuls of that throughout the day - YUM!

I thawed out my Cool Whip last night so I can make some mousse tonight. :cheer2:

Hi Jane,

The Wizard of Oz at the symphony sounds wonderful! My family loves that movie, we even have an old legend, that I'm not sure is even based on fact anymore, but supposedly a distant cousin of my grandfather's was married to Bert Lahr (the lion) at one time. So over the years it became the Lion, our cousin.. :rotfl:

I would be very happy with your food castoffs!! LOVE Salmon, shrimp, spinach, etc.
I've always kidded that I could live forever on a deserted island if I had shrimp, pineapple and chocolate. :rotfl:

My DD 13 plays soccer, here we have fall and spring seasons. The spring always has problems though, with rainouts, soggy fields, etc. They've only played once so far, 5-0 they won, DD got hurt though, just a bad pulled muscle, and if we don't get all the rain and storms tonight, they should play again tomorrow morning.

Keep up the good work, and enjoy your weekend!

I hurt my back, neck & shoulder again! :sad2: I couldn't sleep last night so sat up to read in bed. I thought I'd read about 15 minutes and go to sleep - well 15 minutes turned into 2 hours. When I finally stretched back out my back was hurtin'. This morning I thought that I'd start with yoga - I did 15 minutes before the pain was too much. I also did 5 minutes of walking but it just bothered my back too much. After that I did cold/hot treatments on my back and stretched out in bed. I guess 20 minutes will be my workout for today. :guilty:

Breakfast was a South BEach diet cereal bar.

Lunch - I split a reuben, brocolli salad & piece of coconut cream pie w/ Mom

Tonight I'm making quesadillas for dh - I may make soup for me. Not sure yet. Dh doesn't like tha either!

Amy, that fruit sounds so good. I'm going to have to get more pineapple next week. I love pinapple and strawberries together. Enjoy your mousse. Dh doesn't like it so I won't be making anymore for him. Thats ok - more for me!

Kate, your cousin the lion did a great job! :thumbsup2 Seeing the movie on the big screen makes everything seem that much more real. Every little nuance shows up. The facial expressions are amazing, especially with Bert Lahr & Ray Bolger. And I was so excited to meet an actual munchkin. The guy who played the coroner wrote a book that I read about 4 months ago so everything was still fresh in my memory.

Got to run - my daughter in law is walking over to visit me. Today's her day off and she's trying to increase her exercise minutes. (She's doing alot better today than I am - but then again - she's less than half my age!)
