Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

Hi Jane!

You're really doing great! :thumbsup2

Keep it up, girlie! :cheer2:

  149.6!!!  I'm doin' the banana dance!

I'm so thankful to still be in the 140's and after St Paddy's Day, too! I did not allow myself to weigh in during the week. This way I'm not worrying after every weigh in. I do it once for the week and then its over with.

Finishing yesterday's meals:#6 4 lf cheese w/ 2 handfuls of spicy Cheez its. Even though I did eat alot it was much better than going for the Milk Duds!

Today I did 25 minutes of power yoga and a quick 10 minute full body weight workout.

#1 SB granola bar, pineapple & 4oz of apple, celery, carrot juice
#2 turkey and lf cheese on one slice of ww bread, carrot stix & a salad pepper
#3 2 lf cheese & carrot stix

Dinner tonight was supposed to be halibut but my grocery store doesn't carry it so I'm substituting tilapia instead. I hope it works.

Amy, I think it was smart to change now to the BFL for women. It would have been too hard this week to get back into it, especially if you're heart is not in it. This way you're doing a program you want to work on. Thats a big help with getting motivated.

Kate, just as your weather warms up - it snows again. I'm sorry to hear that. Hang in there - warmer weathers just around the corner.

Kim, thanks for stopping by. I love the encouragement!

Yesterday I made the Mediterranan fish dinner. I used tilapia instead of halibut and it turned out really well. Dh loved it. He was amazed because he'd never thought of having tomatoes and canneli beans w/seafood. He also had shrimp and cocktail sauce w/dinner. I also made a low fat carrot cake. I used nonfat cream cheese, crushed pinapple, & some sugar for the icing. I ended up eating too much. I guess it doesn't matter how low fat something is - if you go overboard with it.

Workout today: 35 minutes of walk jogs

#1 protein shake made with pinapple, papaya & strawberry juice that we made in the juicer, oatmeal
#2 carrot cake
#3 turkey and lf cheese on ww wrap w/ carrot stix

Thats it for today so far. Tonight is fajita night - one of dh's favorites.

Yay on still being in the 140's!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc  :cool1: :yay:

I love tilapia, I will have to try that recipe. Maybe next week when I am back to being 100%.

Sounds like you are making some delicious juices with your juicer! I love anything tropical -YUM!

You are doing awesome, keep it up! :cheer2:

I'm wearing my silver bracelet!! :woohoo: Back before I lost weight dh and I went to Epcot. We had just finished watching Mo'Rockin' in Morrocco and had to hurry for a concert at the American Theater. I spied a silver bracelet & bought it. I never tried the bracelet on until we got home. I was mad at myself when I found it wouldn't even fit over my hand. I felt so dumb. It was a pretty silver bracelet but there was no way it would slide over my hand. I put it away in a box. About a week ago I found it, took it out & tried it on. It fit!!!! I never thought that losing 30lbs would make my hand smaller!

Last night was our fajita dinner. I had one chix fajita withOUT cheese - chicken, peppers, onions, salsa, tomatoes, cilantro all wrapped up in a tortilla.

Tonight I'll make quesadillas with the leftovers. I bought the lf shredded cheese recommended by BFL for my portion.

My morning workout was 25 minutes of cardio weights. I ran out of time this morning. I woke up, helped dh juice, started doing housework & looked at the clock. It was 9:15 and I had to pick up Mom at 10am for a shopping trip. I cut short my workout but I did get one in.

I finally bought martini glasses at the Lennox outlet store. About a year ago I fell in love with some martini glasses there. I put off buying them. Then two different friends bought them. That really bugged me! I saw them first! LOL! This time I went, found a different style & bought them. At $10 for a set of 4 I figured I may as well get'em. I love my cosmopolitans. BAck when I was not dieting dh and i used to eat at Bonefish grill about once a month. I always would order their sweet martinis, and they were expensive. Now, I can make them myself. Plus, I'm tired of serving cosmopolitans in either big wine glasses or margarita glasses. They may be cheap but they look beautiful!

While in line at the clothing store the lady in front of me bought several outfits. She told us that she was rewarding herself. So, of course, I took the bait & asked what for. She'd lost 15lbs and was at her WW goal weight. I asked if she was a lifetime member and she said, "not yet - I have to maintain my weight loss for 5 more weeks." It was fun congratulating her. Somehow that motivated me even more....

until I got to lunch. I made a good choice in ordering - tortilla soup - but the homemade chips and salsa proved irresistible. Next time I'm telling them not to bring the chips and salsa. If its not in front of me I can't eat it!

#1 Protein smoothie that I made from juicing apples & lemon
#2 Mexican restaurant - about 15 chips and salsa (I lost count) tortilla soup

Thanks, Beth. :thumbsup2 The magical 149 has been a pain to get to!! I was nervous all week about it. Now I have to own it!

AMY, YOU'RE POSTING !!!!!! I'm glad your surgery is over and you are recuperating. Did you get something to drink? I worried about you yesterday. Being thirsty all morning sounds almost as bad as the surgery! Glad to see that you're back!

Dinner last night was the same as lunch which I had at the Mexican restaurant. I fixed tortilla soup with the leftovers from our fajitas. I'd been planning on fixing it all week anyway so I had it twice. I fixed quesadillas for dh but decided not to have any.

No workout today. We have a lot of work to get done. We're still fixing up the two bedrooms.

For breakfast I had a protein shake w/apple, papaya, pineapple & strawberry juice. I used about 4oz of juice & 4oz of water.

That is awesome about the bracelet! I didn't realize you could lose weight in your hands. How cool!

Chips-n-salsa are killers! Sometimes I can just take 10 out of the basket and stick with that, other times I eat the whole darned thing... :guilty: It's better to not have it there at all, you are right.

Great job getting your workout in, even if it was a little condensed. You are doing so great, I really hope your DH is proud of you and that you are proud of yourself. :teeth:

I am feeling better every day, although I am getting stir crazy. I am still in no shape to work out, I hope I am able to get a light workout in on Monday. I'm not going to push it, but listen to my body (right now I am sitting here typing with my pants unzipped because it is too sore on my belly  )

Last night we had our neighbors over for drinks. The one lady was complaining about gaining weight. Incidentally she brought it up not me! She just can't get motivated to cook the right foods & workout. I know how it feels because I used to think it was so complicated why bother. I was always thin until I got fat when I hit forty so I didn't know how to do anything differently. I think she has the same problem - she was never heavy until recently. I keep telling her its not that hard - just walk, do resistance training 2-3X a week & buy lots of skinless chicken breasts. I think if she'd just get started she'd do great. She's big on infomericials - she'll buy the stuff and say she'll get started but never does. I'll tell ya - if she doesn't start using the stuff she has I'm going to ask to borrow it.

I watched the BFL for women dvd today. It includes 3 - 10 minute workouts. As for the information, I think I'd rather read it in book form because the dvd didn't really go in depth into what exactly the program is - it was more to motivate once you'd started the program. I like their workouts though - 10 min of cardio, 10 min of upper body & 10 min of lower body. It moved quickly & seemed really easy - I have not tried the lower body workout yet.

My workout today included 20 minutes of yoga, 10 minutes of their cardio workout & 10 minutes of their upper body workout. I wish I could weigh in tomorrow morning - I don't like what Sundays do to me. :guilty:

#2 yesterday - chicken broth with protein powder - don't ever accidentally mix it with vanilla shake - we're now out of protein powder & for my meal #3 I inadvertantly grabbed the vanilla shake, mixed it with chicken broth & took a big sip. Ugh! I threw that one out and just made a protein shake out of apple juice.

#4 Sante Fe soup

#5 2 cosmopolitans

Today
#1 protein shake
#2 2 bowls of Sante Fe soup at work
#3 homemade blueberry cobbler that the cook at work made- just too good to pass up
#4 1 Kashi granola bar
#5 1 chicken breast, 1 apple

Amy, take your time and get feeling better. This is time for R&R! Let yourself be waited on princess: & don't overdo it!

Hi Jane

You're doing great!

Chips and salsa - killers, I swear I could eat an entire bag of chips...... :guilty:

Have a good day tomorrow. :sunny:

Sounds like your doing great Jane E. Congrats on staying in the 140's. When I get to 149 I'm going to ..............I don't know what i am going to do :rolleyes1 ....but i know its gonna be fun :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: .Good luck on continuing your weight loss goals!

OK, the chicken broth and vanilla shake remark made me GAG! :crazy2: That really sounds disgusting!

Did the neighbor mention anything about your weight loss? Did you tell her about BFL or is she just not ready to make a commitment yet?

You are doing great, keep it up! :cheer2:

I did pretty well yesterday. You know how hard Sundays can be for me. I decided to have my treats but carefully. In the morning we went to McD's. I had a sausage burrito and 1/2 of a cinnamon roll. At lunch I had 4 slices of pizza and one McFlurry. Dinner last night was a protein shake.

Today when I woke up I did the BFL for women lower body workout. It was just too easy. Basically it was 10minutes of pilates - no weights at all. After the tape finished I ended up doing 5 more minutes of lower body using my exercise ball. After that I did 25 minutes of cardio for a total of 40 minutes today.

I like the cardio and upper body workout on the dvd better than the lower body. At least with the upper body they use weights & you can always increase how much you use. The cardio was a good way to jumpstart my workout. It got me moving. The lower body just didn't have enough to it. WHen I used to do pilates I used to spend 15 minutes apiece on abs, hips, legs or arms. I'd usually choose 2 workouts a day. This workout was 10 minutes only for lower body. Its a great workout for beginners.

#1 lemon water
#2 chicken broth with protein

Tonights dinner is the hot, spicy chicken strips. Dh loves his in a salad. Ds likes his - like I do- with veggies on the side.

Ds,17, drove me nuts last night. He doesn't have school or work this week, so, he was out with friends all day yesterday. I told him to be home by midnight. He got home at midnight and then they all sat in the car until 2:30am when he came inside. He thinks thats acceptable. I'd rather have him spend the night with a friend then sit out on our driveway. Talk about the letter of the law!

Yesterday the phone and doorbell rang nonstop. Thank God for cell phones. Before he got his cell phone our family phone rang nonstop. Now, at least, I don't have to hear it. However, that can be good and bad. On our home phone I have caller id so I always knew who he was talking to.

Hi Kate, I hope your weather is warming up. :sunny: Thanks for stopping by!

Zela, thanks for the good wishes. This time has definately been a struggle for me but I'm getting there. It won't be long until your there too!

Amy, a few weeks ago my neighbor mentioned my weight loss but not this weekend. She was talking about how she needed to lose weight. Right before I started BFL we discussed it, but she really wasn't interested in it for her. She'll talk about working out, buy equipment, but then never do the workout. The same for food. I'm not sure what will motivate her to get going. We're back to another week!

You didn't do too bad on your free day! At least you tapered off and only had a protein shake for dinner...

That stinks that the BFLW workout is not up to your level! You can always stick with the regular BFL workout, since you are obviously way more advanced!! :teeth:

I am really dreading the day my DS becomes a teenager. Not just the girls and the driving and the phone calls, but we will probably have to take out a loan just to feed the kid...

I am going to have to make that spicy chicken next week. This week I am making 3 EFL meals, but they are all kid-friendly. Did you try the mousse yet?

You are doing great! I am ready to get in the 140's and stay. I'm back up to 151 I have got to get really serious about this again!

:cheer2: 149.4 :cheer2: :cheer2:

I lost 2 whole ounces this week!!! I'm not complaining. If I'm in the 140s I'm happy! I've been bouncing around the 150s for way too long.

Dinner last night was 2 spicy chicken tenders, 1/4C brown rice, carrot sticks & melon. For dessert I made strawberry shortcake w/Cool Whip Lite. Then I added two little Cadbury dark chocolate squares. Both dh and ds thought that my chicken was too spicy! I love it!

Today's workout was 30 minutes of walk jogs.

#1 1/2 of the most unusual fruit I've ever seen in my life. I can't remember the name of it. Its orange and spiky. The inside is green with edible seeds. Its really spiky. When I bought it the cashier grabbed it and injured his hand. I had 1/2 of it but no one else here will eat it. It doesn't taste that good anyway.

#2 carrot apple juice

#3 taco pasta salad - I fixed it for lunch but forgot to add the salsa sour cream dressing since I'd made it up earlier. Also I had a mini strawberry shortcake. I sliced one shortcake into a 1/3 piece, put one strawberry on it & 1T of cool whip lite. Of course I put two little dark choc squares on the side.

Tonight we're going out for dinner. The same for tomorrow so it looks like a week of temptations.

Amy, teenagers definately keep you on your toes! :yay: You never know whats going on. My friend's son got into 3 accidents the first year he had his driver's license. Talk about a nailbiting year! (He's now settled down, gone back to school and majored in accounting - his driving has improved!) One benefit of having a teen around is that they make good workers - dh, ds and I bagged up 12 contractor bags of tree trimmings this morning in no time at all. Ds wanted to get done so he could hang out with his friends. It would have taken the two of us a lot longer!

Hope that your recovering!

Beth, hurry up I'm waiting for you. It won't be long till you'll be back at 149!

Ooh, I can't wait to have my own teenage slave! My DS will do something if he wants something. Otherwise it's like pulling teeth...

CONGRATS on getting deeper into the 140's! I really need to get my act together, you are gonna pass me by!

How did you do eating out last night? I've seen those fruits, but have never tried one. I don't like seeds (edible or not) so I doubt I'll ever eat one...

We decided to have takeout at our house instead of dinner out. One of the guys we were going out with had to work later so we opted for a leisurely meet up at our house.

Instead of getting take out I had my taco pasta dish. I did great until I dove into the munchies I'd set out for everyone. I ended up eating the chips and salsa. For dessert I made strawberry shortcake. I also set out the dark chocolate but I had way too much. Its just too much temptation for me! Later on I had two lf cheese sticks.

This morning we went with ds to McDonalds for breakfast. I had a protein shake instead. About 2 hours later I had a South Beach diet granola bar.

Then dh and I went to the movies. I got my coveted Milk Duds!!!! :guilty: :guilty: I know I know!!!

Afterwards we went out for an early dinner (before the tourists get there) to a local restaurant. Tonights martini night so I had a Razzitini and a Cosmo along with 1/2 quesadilla & some homemade chips.

No workout today.

Amy, that horned melon fruit thing wasn't any good. It was sour and seedy and no one else will touch it. Take my word for it, canteloupe is 100X better!

Great job having a protein shake instead of McDonalds! :cool1: Mmm, martinis. Gotta love 'em!

I've gotten pretty good at avoiding things that trigger a binge. Easter is right around the corner and I did pretty good getting more toys/less candy for the kids baskets. I just can't have it around! Maybe you could take all your chocolate to work and get rid of it if you are having problems controlling your intake.

I'm sure you didn't splurge as bad as you think. I bet eating all the munchies was still less calories than if you had gone out to eat! ::yes::

What movie did you see?

  148.8

Don't ask me how this happened. I decided after a whole day of no workout, lots of Milk Duds & a couple of martinis that I'd weigh myself to track the damage. I couldn't believe when I jumped on the scale this morning! Go figure! Now I'm going back to NOT weighing myself until next week. The rollercoaster ride is just too much for me!

#1 lemon water
#2 apple juice w/apple cider vinegar, 1/2 tsp of habanaro hot sauce
#3 protein shake & 2 little Cadbury squares of dark chocolate.

My workout today was 40 minutes of walk jogs!

I saw something a little Desperate Housewifeyish on my walk. I noticed a woman jogger all dressed up in matching running gear. Also I noticed she didn't smile or nod to the woman who was walking ahead of me, nor to me. Thats unusual -everyone here is very friendly. About a 1/2 block past her I made it to the end of my subdivision. I turned around and as I walked back up I noticed she was stopped in the same place where I'd first passed her, standing in the middle of a side street & glancing up it as she faced my direction. Then as I got closer I noticed a man in a mercedez sports convertible. They are staring at each other but no one is waving or saying anything. It was eerie. He was stopped about 20 feet before the stop sign. As he watched her she slowly walked off while staring at him. He just sat there staring back & then finally drove off very slowly in the opposite direction. He kept looking back at her as he drove off. Since she wasn't friendly to the rest of us exercisers (she also snubbed a woman on a bike & an old couple walking) & was parading herself in front of Mr. Mercedez I figured she's probably not just a bitc* but maybe even a stalker! It gives me one more reason to NOT get a treadmill!

Amy, the nice thing about my protein shake was that I wasn't tempted by the McDonald's food - not even the cinnamon roll ds got. Somehow those shakes and bars stave off hunger. I'm so glad you talked me into getting the bars to go with the shakes - they're great when I'm on the run.

We saw Capote. Philip Seymore Hoffman did a great job. He usually does charactor parts which makes him an even better actor! I loved The Talented Mr. Ripley when it came out and since he was in that I always notice him in movies. The movie moves slowly but its very good and very intriguing.

Great job avoiding the Easter candy! I haven't even gotten any yet. I put a ceramic Easter basket on the diningroom table. It has two ceramic bunnies, & I put in the fake green Easter grass. I refuse to get any candy to put in it. It looks a little lonely sitting empty on the table!
