Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

I love Seinfeld! Last Christmas I got Seasons 1-3 on DVD. I noticed Season 4 is available now, so I will definitely request that gift this year!!

I would have smacked DB if he heated up food like that! He sometimes gets up after I have gone to bed, but it is always to get a yogurt or munch on cereal, nothing like BBQ. He has pretty much stopped snacking around me because he knows I am trying to break that bad habit. He will even ask if I mind if he has a Pop-Tart or yogurt, or whatever he is going to eat. I'm sorry you had to go through that, but you only had a bite of BBQ and toast w/cheese is not as bad as a pint of Ben & Jerry's! And I've read that sometimes you need to up your calories for a day to rev your body's metabolism up. So don't feel bad about it, and explain to your DH that it really makes it hard for you when he has snacks like that. He obviously doesn't know what a struggle it is for people like us!

Hang in there and keep doing what you're doing! I have Blockbuster Online, I should get some Pilates DVDs from them. What a great idea!

Oh....bad dh!!!!!!! Are you suppose to eat this....and then heats it up to make the house smell good. MEN (sorry Mike and Don)!!!!!!

Nice job on the weight loss. And hope you have a great anniversary and a wonderful dinner and have fun at Disney!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Looks like you've been doing great with food and exercise (We all slip up at night sometimes, it's just part of life :confused3 . My dad likes to eat peanut butter late at night and that is hard for me to resist :teeth: .) I hope your anniversary is fun. Keep up what your doing and you'll be to that goal in no time! :cheer2:

Amy, Chris & Zela, thanks for stopping by. :flower: I've since talked to dh about heating up BBQ at midnight. He didn't realize how tempting it was.

We enjoyed our anniversary at Victoria & Alberts. The food was amazing. Dh was a little shocked by the cost but when he got there he really enjoyed the food. They wait on you hand and foot. We arrived about 15 minutes early and were seated immediately. After a few minutes someone poured our water (from a bottle) & we were given champagne as well as menus to choose from. We had the wine pairing so we had wine with each course.

For each course we had a couple of choices - for the appetizer dh had shrimp wrapped in ham - which was delicious. I had the tomatoes with vinegar & gazpacho. (HIs was really good.) For the second course I had quail and dh had lump crab. Mine was better this time. For the fish course we got the same thing - a Maine skate wing w/ artichoke confit & preserved lemon.

For the main course we ordered the prime filet. It was absolutely delicous. So tender you can cut it with a butter knife. Then I ordered gelatto & dh had the cheese - mine was better- refreshing & I was full.

For dessert, I ordered the chocolate souffle & he had chocolate mousse. They also bring out a fancy coffee maker. I don't drink coffee but I couldn't resist this time. When the coffee was ready the waiter pours it, then puts your cream and sugar in too. I had 3 lumps of white sugar and one lump of brown sugar - it was sweet. I couldn't finish dessert or coffee.

Dh & I both agreed this was the best meal we've ever eaten. The portions for each course are small; otherwise, they'd have to roll everyone out of there. It took us 2 1/2 hours to eat. They also have a harpist who plays. The staff was wonderful. It was a beautiful anniversary meal.

We got out of there about 10pm, walked outside & could see fireworks from MK. It was very romantic & we couldn't have timed it better.

Afterwards, we went back to our hotel at POR to change. We decided to go over to POFQ to Scat CAts. We arrived there about 11:15pm in time for the final set. WE had a great time. The next day we slept in until 10am & then got ready for checking out. I kept telling dh we were going to miss breakfast. He HAS to have breakfast food - he can't eat a hamburger if he hasn't eaten something else. So, of course, we missed breakfast. We decided to go to Kissimmee to IHOP. However, we couldn't find our turnoff on I-4. They changed it or something - anyway we missed it. Ended up at Denny's in Haines City. Our poor waitress had two huge parties. She was trying to keep up but couldn't. I feel it was the hostess' fault for seating so many people in our section. After waiting 10 minutes our harried waitress dropped off menus and said she'd be right back to take our orders. Then proceeded to this table of 11. After listening to the party spend 5 minutes telling the waitress how they wanted to divide up the check we quietly left.

We ended up at Perkins. Unfortunately seated next to us was a party of 12 teenaged sports players. Their coach was complaining about the service & wanted some type of refund. We hung in there & did get to eat...finally. However, they took up 3 tables and didn't leave one tip. After they left two waitresses were going over the money & checks and were still $2 short.
I ate the chix quesadillas while dh ordered eggs benedict - they came with NO tomato - so I have him my chopped up tomatoes.

Saturday:
breakfast: oj with protein mix
snack: 2 choc chip cookies - i can't resist these when they are offered to me
lunch: LC meal, peach juice
snack: peach juice
dinner: tomato basil veggie burger on a bun, iced green tea, 2 fudgesicles

Sunday:
breakfast: LC sweet & sour chix, oj
lunch: LC meal 1 fudgesicle
snack: apple juice
dinner: split chix quesadillas with dh, cranberry juice
snack: 2 fudgesicles

Monday:
One day juice fast to calm down after my big dinner last week. Since I was fasting I didn't workout - just wanted to take a day to relax & get healthy

breakfast: oj
lunch: peach juice
dinner: iced green tea

I haven't weighed myself since last week. I don't keep a scale at home or I'd always be on it. I have to go to the grocery store to get weighed. Tomorrow is weigh in day. I want to see the 150s!

I weighed today and lost .5 so I'm 161. One more pound and I'll get my 20 lb clippie. At work the other day one of the family members stopped me. She said "you're losing too much weight - your pants are dragging." Sure enough they were falling around my feet; however, my hips & abs are my main source of fat deposits - so I lose around my legs - but it takes awhile for my midsection to catch up. I think my legs and arms are size 10 and my midsection is 14! I tried on my size 12 shorts again - they're a little looser but not loose enough to wear out in public. When I first started trying them on I couldn't even get them up to my waist let alone zipped and fastened!

workout: 35 minutes of free weights with cardio in between sets

Breakfast: 1 c watermelon
Snack: 1 c watermelon, oj
Lunch: chili, peach/mango juice
dinner: chili, peach mango juice

I made the chili spicy hot with 4 different kinds of peppers & two different kinds of onions. Used less than 1 lb of ground sirloin for the entire recipe - which fills up a huge cooking pot.

You're doing a great job! Keep up the good work!!!!

You can do it! :cheer2:

Welcome back, we missed you! What a wonderful anniversary dinner! Sounds like you had a nice, relaxing time. Sorry to hear about the trouble getting breakfast, geez that would have really stressed me out!!!

I rented a Pilates DVD from Blockbuster Online after reading it in your journal, thanks for the tip! I am going to use it tonight to see how I like it.

You are doing great and you will get your 20 lb clippie in no time! And as much as you work out, you will have no problem meeting your exercise challenge. Keep it up!

Ugh last night was difficult. I ate my dinner at 4:45 pm so I'd be over & done with it. However dh wasn't ready to eat dinner until after 8pm - he's always been a late dinner eater. I kept the chili simmering all evening and finally at 8pm - it got to me. I fixed another bowl of chili and then - ugh! got out the italian bread and butter. I ended up having my 8pm snack of 1 bowl of chili and 4 slices of bread!!!! Its just too good for me to pass up! I used to eat bread, butter, chili & cheese. I don't even buy cheese anymore because I know I can't resist. If dh would eat at 5 or 6pm I wouldn't even have had the chili still simmering. I've just got to learn to deal with this. He's always loved eating late whereas I like to eat dinner before 6pm. Anyway, he had 2 bowls of chili & sliced avocado on the side for his dinner.

Today: So far -

breakfast: 1/4 c watermelon & 1bowl of chili, peach/mango juice
snack: took mom out for an orange sherbet/vanilla ice cream cone & I had one
lunch: 1 bowl of chili, peach/mango juice

I've gotta get - a neighbor just stopped by will finish later.

Maybe you guys can come up with some kind of compromise on the dinner time? That sounds too stressful to have to deal with basically 2 opportunities for dinner! Or maybe while he is eating late you can have a healthy snack or a small salad or something? Or you have a salad or veggie dish at your usual dinner time and eat a later, smaller dinner with him? I don't know, but I hope you can work something out so you are not tempted so much!

Hang in there and keep it up, you can do it!

Amy has a really good point on the dinner issue. Sit down and talk to DH to see if there is any way that you two can come up with something.

Hang in there. You are doing a great job

Thank you Amy & Eeyore 25 for sticking up for me. I need the vote of confidence! Dh just doesn't understand, but I will try to talk with him. He hasn't touched the BBQ late at night, so he did understand my problem with that!

Tonight he got home at 4:30pm after having eaten at Quizno's at 3pm. He wasn't that hungry but we grilled tilapia - he ate half of his.

Now for my wedding rings! When I bought my original ring I weighed 102lbs. When I was pregnant with my second child I took off my rings and have never put them on again. I'm not too upset because they always made my fingers itch. (We did buy them at a reputable jeweler out on the Key.) Last December at 180lbs I realized I hadn't worn a wedding ring in over 17 years. At that time, I didn't think I'd be losing weight. One day, on the spur of the moment while shopping at Walmart, I bought an inexpensive gold wedding ring. This ring didn't make my fingers itch. I've worn the ring for 8 months, but now it keeps slipping off. I've found it in the garbage can, on the floor, on the bottom of the bathtub. One day I couldn't find it anywhere - dh found it 2 days later on the floor of my car!! The good news is that this ring does NOT make my finger itch. I know I won't be able to wear it much longer though. I've decided when I make goal that we're going to go out and buy a brand new wedding/engagement set.

Today's stats: lost another .5 for 19.5 - I want that 20lb clippie!!! :Pinkbounc

workout: 65 min of yoga

I didn't eat breakfast or lunch - didn't feel like it. We're supposed to go to the movies & I want to buy a small box of Milk Duds.

dinner: 1 piece of Tilapia with cajun seasonings & lotsa lemon, a few pieces of fresh spinach, peach mango juice

Forgot to add I also had a ring of fresh pineapple with dinner.

What a wonderful goal! Is the one you bought falling off because it is now too big or has it been loose the whole time? I guess it is a good sign that your fingers have gotten thinner, right?

Have you come up with a lasting solution to the dinner problem? Sounds like you guys compromised a little last night!!

You will get that new clippie soon, I know it!

Thank you, Amy. When I bought the ring in December it fit me perfectly. The other rings were way too small. I found a ring that I bought about 15 years ago and it was way too small for me. It won't even fit on my pinky finger! So, I have a long way to go.

What I usually try to do for dh since I know he likes to eat late is fix him things I don't like - salmon, huge salads, shrimp etc. That way I'm not tempted. Before I was working out & dieting I used to buy that BBQ stuff all the time. I never knew he liked it and have been surprised he continues to buy it. Usually, he eats it when I'm not at home - so its not a problem. We've both learned he can't eat that at night if I'm still awake. So far, so good. Tonight he's grilling out steak that I've marinated but I'll eat the tilapia.

Workout 80 minutes total - 60 circuit training & 20 cardio.

Breakfast: Breakfast Burrito at McDonalds, pineapple ring

Lunch: chili, peach/mango juice, 2 slices of bread/butter

Dinner: tilapia w/mayo and celery stix, peach mango juice, strawberry/blueberry shortcake - used oj to moisten the cake & just ate the shortcake & fruit

I got my 20lb clippie!!!!!!

On grill night, I did end up eating 1/3 of one of the steaks. It was delicious.

Saturday:
No breakfast or lunch
Dinner: 1/2 order of chix nachos, cranberry juice
Dessert (at home): strawberry/blueberry shortcake with just a bit of skim milk, peach/mango juice

Sunday:
breakfast: fresh pinapple, peach/mango juice
lunch: bean burger on a bun, peach mango juice

We're having friends over for dinner. We've decided just to have plain ole grilled hot dogs, baked beans, french fries, and rootbeer floats. For the hotdogs, I've gotten in saurkraut, canned beanless chili, cheese, onions, plus all the other condiments. Dh loves saurkraut and mustard. I like the chili 'n cheese & mustard.

Tomorrow we've been invited to a party, so I have two difficult days ahead of me.

You are doing great Jane!!!!!! Congrats on getting that 20 pound clippie!!!! You are ROCKIN'!!!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Thanks for your encouragement, Chris!

To finish from yesterday, we had company last night so dinner was 'on the grill':
1 grilled hotdog with chili & mustard, homemade baked beans, celery & carrots, 4 french fries

dessert later that night: a huge hot fudge sundae.

After they left at 11pm, dh & I went for a 40 minute walk.

Then I came home and had another sundae. I've gotta get rid of the hot fudge, ice cream & whipped cream -- aackk!!

This morning I woke up and did 30 minutes of weights with 20 minutes of cardio.

Breakfast: 1 bean burger w/ 2T salsa (no bun), 1C of fresh pineapple, strawberries & blueberries

Not sure whats for lunch - I'm working but I'll probably come home - unfortunately I didn't buy enough lo-cal stuff for when I'm in a hurry.

Tonight - going to a party not sure what we'll be eating.

You are doing AWESOME, Jane (Hot fudge not included ;) )

I continue to be so impresssed with your exercise.

Keep it up!

Happy Monday!!

Hi Jane. I'm new to your journal, but just wanted to pop in and say hi. Thanks for posting that link on someone's journal about prepping for a 5 K- I've been thinking about signing up for one in Nov. so this information was perfect!

Your dinner at V&A's sounds wonderful! DH and I love eating out at WDW (Flying Fish, Artist Point, and Boma's are our favs), but we've never been to V&A yet...but it will definitely be in our future!

Congrats on your progress so far and have fun at your party tonight. :)

How are you cooking the tilapia? I need to incorporate more healthy fish in my diet!
You are doing so well with the exercise. Congrats.
Also like the ring idea. DH never wears his (he is a landscaper) and I wish he would. I never take mine off.
When I lose 20 lbs (half way to goal) I am buying a gold charm bracelet I have decided. Then I will have charms on it for stuff... like when I reach goal!

You are doing really good! I am so with you on the "gotta get rid of the ice cream, hot fudge, etc" Great minds must think alike!!! :rotfl:

Congrats on your 20 lb clippie! I knew you'd get it soon! :cool1:

Keep up with that exercise, you are such an inspiration!
