Hey all...we (hubby and I) are planning our first trip to CA next year.:yay::woohoo: Yes, a little excited! LOL I know there is a good possibility of ride closures (especially the main good ones in DL) in the winter months but is there any advice you all can give us as far as weather, crowds, budgeting....anything you think would help us plan? Also, where or who can I contact to get an idea of what will be closed in the parks Jan-Feb of next year? Can I go back the the closures of the past couple of years and sort of figure that would be the standard (whatever restaurants/rides/attractions) will be closed for 2012? My hubby I think is a bigger kid than I am. LOL We were thinking about going out there in Jun or July, granted the weather is warmer but you have to deal with all the crowds. This being our first and maybe only DL visit because we live in the midwest which is much easier for us to go to DW which we have, we want to get the most out of our trip. Just don't know how to plan this trip. Do we plan around the weather, time of year, crowds???? We are planning on seeing as much as we can in the LA area/possibly go to San Diego one day for the zoo. HELP!!! So much to learn and read. LOL I have started my research this much in advance and have some idea of where to stay when we got to DL (Candy Cane Hotel...gets good reviews) and know somewhat what crazy touristy attractions to see and tours to go on. Don't know if we should just stay there at Candy Cane for our whole trip (full week) or split it up a couple days there and a few in the LA area? We have a friend who lives out there so luckily, transportation will not be a worry...THANK YOU DEAR LORD! : ):littleangel: We are lucky there.

ANY AND ALL help and advice would be greatly appreciated! :thumbsup2

Thank you all so much!

Tammy :flower3:

Jan is about equal to Feb. Both have 3 days weekends, avoid if you want to avoid crowds. The first week of January will have some residual Holiday Crowds, avoid if you want to avoid crowds. Other than that total offseason.

Weather wise, about the same, a tiny bit cooler in January as February goes toward Spring.

Rehabs are about the same too, they start during or after that first week of January. Because this is the longest offseason this is when they do the biggest rehabs. Lots of things will be getting painted. Anything that can be done by Spring Break will happen in this period.

It really depends on how you want to tour if you should switch hotels. SD for a day, don't switch if you are coming back North. Might see if SD is cheaper to fly to. A lot of tours go from Anaheim, so it may be a good base for LA too.

I've been a few times in Jan/Feb and have really enjoyed it. There are some closures, but we are going next week and there are more closures this trip than there were on our Jan/Feb one :(

My sister has been a few times in Feb and got rained on EVERY time lol..we have always avoided the rain.
