Jan. 22- 29 , 2011 Western Caribean Cruise on the Disney Magic!!!

Welcome CheeChow and CaymanFan! Glad you guys could join us!

CaymanFan: My DS is 13 and will be doing the teen activities as well. I am glad they will allow 13 yr olds in the stack! He would have been devistated if it was tightly restricted. My DD is 11 and hopes we do another cruise when she is 13...lol.

As for excursions, I think I have already posted what we plan to do. Trolley tour in Key West, Tulum Ruins in Cozumel, Dolphins in Grand Cayman and stingrays and biking in CC.

I sure like the boards getting busier!

Lynn & Kelli: I will PM you guys when I know what info we need to book dinner together. I can't wait!

Cheechow, welcome! My daughter will be a couple months short of 3 at the time of the cruise so our kids will have company. :) Are you getting a crib or doing bedrails for your son? I'm on the fence about it since DD is still in a crib. :)

dizzi - I SOOO want to do the 5K on CC. Have you run them before? I have done one before but 2 years ago and need to start to train for it again. Think it is a good goal to stay fit for the cruise. :)

I have not.....
But it is on my bucket list!
And i plan to start back down the road of taking care of myself and training tomorrow...got all i needed tonight.
I have read up on it a little and you dont have to run it, you can ado a fast walk or go back and forth....it is a time limit and if you dont finsh it in time they just come and pick you up.

I have done some running before but only about 3 miles a a time.....But that was in the heat of FLORIDA summer, so i think january could be nice in the morning for a jog.

Lokka

definitley looking forward to it

I have been searching for excursions to night.

So far i have thought of

KEYWEST....either renting mopeds or electric car...going to the mile 0,the top of the hotel, to guy harvey to get t shirts, and to get key lime pie.

Castaway Cay......morning run, stingrays, and watercraft adventure (if we can do both) and little snorkleing

COZUMEL.........leaning towards adventure park

Hi Melissa
I was very excited to see there would be someone close to Jensen in age. We got a playpen on the cruise we went on in January but he sleeps in a big boy bed now so this time i requested the bedrail. We are trying hard to have him potty trained in time so he can go in the pools.
Did you book a balcony stateroom? We found it helps since DS goes to bed rather early so then we don't have to sit in the dark!

I am thinking there are also no ketchup chips South of the border but maybe i am wrong on that one?

DO NOT tell my DD that! She will make me pack a suitcase full!...lol It is one of the things she CAN eat that is usually gluten free...lol

For real??? Ketchup chips??? What the heck are those?

Dizzi & Melissa&Shawn: I have been thinking about doing the 5K too. Let me know if y'all decide to do it...

Let me put it this way.......

TODAY, i am definitley doing it.

The definitley could change daily until the cruise, or morning of the jog.:rotfl2:
**********************************************************

I realy do want to do it, my drawbacks would be
1. not having enoughtime due to work to get myself ready
2. too lazy to get up the morning of

*********************************************************

Although i usually am an early riser on most vacations i like to get the day going

So what time does that start? I have those same drawbacks! :rotfl:
I can't really start running until after football season ends (1st week November) but the DH and I are doing P90X and get up at 5:30am :sad2:to do that workout during the week, so hopefully that will go towards getting ready for the 5K. I am determined to look halfway decent in a bikini (not that I will actually wear one), by the time we go. And be able to do some guilt free eating! :yay:

I would love to do something like that but I am WAY too fat to run...lol. I don't have any free time to work on getting in shape to do it either. I will sit on the sidelines and cheer you all on though! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

That will probably be WAY more fun! And I have a feeling I will be walking quite a bit of that 5K if I do it! :rotfl:

Well I would walk it no problem, but I seriously can't run...lol.

Just after I posted the PP I see on the news that Canadians are the most unfit country... Maybe I should get my fat @$$ off the sofa(reading posts) and go on the treadmill...lol.

Anyone can do it. Google "couch to 5k". It is an 8 week program. I've gotten to week 6 last year but wasn't consistent. I would love to finish it and do it at CC. Tinkerkell - if you can jog 3 miles at a time, you can easily do this. It's only 3.1 miles. The 5k I "ran" two years ago was 5 months post partum and I ran only half of it. We can do this! It is a good goal and we will look smokin' in bikinis by January! :)

Oh and I believe it is at 8:30am. We finish by 9:30, late breakfast and shower and we will be back on the beach by 11am. :)

Cheechow, we do have a balcony. We were going to put DD in the pullout sofa so I'm not sure if she'll hear us if we could hang out on the balcony while she sleeps. Hopefully she will be potty trained as well. :). We are at the point of she tells us when she is going or has to go so we should be ok by the cruise. I may do pullups just in case because of all the excitement she may not feel comfortable. We'll see though. So exciting!!! Any tips for cruising with toddlers?

Tell me about the scavenger hunt and the magnet exchange i see that on the FE LIST!

THANKS

Looking up the couch to 5k in 8 weeks.

But i can do 3 miles but dont know if i can do it in an hour.

We are planning the same with DS on the sofa so i really wish the room was reversed with the bed by the balcony door but i guess realistically that just wouldnt work but we just left the door open a crack and could hear him and were able to relax and have a drink and what not.

Not sure i have any tips except don't be too disappointed if dinner is cut short. DS just cannot sit that long and if they are unable to be in the clubs won't be able to leave early with the others. We ate in the dining room most nights but a couple times in the buffet just to make it easier. I was also conscious of others thinking why is she bringing her child in here but think it will be quite different on DCL for that aspect. It took him a bit the first day to adjust and he woke up quite freaked out at 3 am and we did a little ship exploring and then all was good but i suggest to bring a night light as it does get quite dark in the room. DCL has bath tubs so that will be a bonus compared to other cruise lines for little ones. I bring disposable bibs especially for night that he is in his tux and a tide to go pen for when the bib doesn't cut it. We also bring a plastic plate, cup and spoon for him but again DCL may be better prepared for kids and not need to worry about him smashing a plate  Bring some ziploc bags and then toss a wet facecloth in there to clean DS up after dinner and also for when you are on the islands. You just never know when you will need it. We bring a few small toys and books for him for in the room when we are getting ready for him to keep occupied with. He never had an issue with the ships movement but u may want to bring some childrens gravol just incase. A little first aid kit is handy, bandages, childrens tylenol kinda stuff. We found on the islands most of the tour companies did not have seat belts on their buses for his car seat and the taxis looked at you like you were on glue when you wanted to use a car seat. They will give in though and find you a seat belt and then tell you well now i will charge you for the child. Gotta love the safety. :sad2: We did end up once on a tour bus without a seat belt and used a few belts from the men travelling with us to secure his seat (don't worry no men lost their pants in the process). So now DH knows to bring an extra belt. Huh guess i did have some tips after all. I am sure i will think of more things and if i do will let you know. It went much smoother then i expected and he loved it!

So now that you have been to WDW do you have any tips for me as we are spending a week there after the cruise and it will be mine and DS first time there?

Chrisse I think we better make room for some ketchup chips to share as my hunch appears to have been correct.

OH CHEECHOW your first time to disney.........
I would love to help you out with any questions.

I am sure others can help too, but we have been so many times, and have planned out many family members whole schedule for them for their first visit.

YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A GREAT VACATION>

Where are u staying for your time at DISNEY???

CheeChow: I don't know if DH will let me bring any more than I am already planning...lol. I am sure I can arrange something though. I don't know how much bag space I will have as this is my first trip that isnt to my moms 3 hrs away...lol.

Melissa: I looked at the couch to 5K but untill I am feeling better, I am going to need to hold off but I am considering it.
