Jan. 22- 29 , 2011 Western Caribean Cruise on the Disney Magic!!!

When you go from the gang way into the ship itself they "announce you"

This is more for you than anyone else cuz noone else is really listening.
Although i did listen to a few this past time....Just cuz i knew to listen for it.

Like the first time we were announced as " the palmer family" cuz we didnt know to plan something fun.

People use all sorts of things........

"Welcome Mr TOM MORROW"

There is actually a thread of names people have used somewhere
But most people just use there family name......
It is just that we are a very blended family and we have 3 last names among us sowe try to come up with something clever.

Maybe this time we will do......
Announcing JOE for his last cruise in the LOFT!!!!

We're interested in using Happy Limo too - let us know if they get back to you! Hopefully just an email problem!

Chrisse - we have two food allergies too. I am severely allergic to shellfish and DS6 to peanuts and tree nuts. You can certainly request a table by yourselves and I'm betting that it will be granted, especially given the medical reason. I go back and forth on it - on the one hand, I'd hate to be seated with folks who totally resent the whole "allergy thing" and make us feel uncomfortable all the time; on the other hand, I know most people are great about it and I love to be social!

In a couple pf threads, people have reported that DCL gave families with food allergies their own table anyway without asking... I don't know how consistent that is though...

It may sound odd but I really would prefer to sit with another family over sitting by ourselves. We eat aout alot when we go into the city and have lots of pleasant conversations with the kids but I don't get alot of adult social time. It would be nice to meet new people and make new friends. I just hope I can be seated with someone that will respect our issue and not be snotty about it. I am not as sensitive as Brooke so as long as we use me as a buffer or if we sit with a family that has kids and she wants to sit with them, and is careful, I am sure it will be fine. Like I said, my issue is someone that treats it like it is all in our head or really could care less. I really hope to sit with some great people. I really am a fun person!...lol.

Doesn't sound odd at all! :) DH and I have made some long-lasting "penpal" friends out of prior cruise dinner mates! I'm just crossing my fingers for "nice and tolerant" - that's all we require, lol!

Hello everyone, looks like we will be joining you this coming Jan:cool1: We were booked on the up coming halloween cruise, but had to move are reservations. My brother-in-law,sister-in-law, and nephews reservations (they were book on the same cruise) got cancelled....its a long story ( i'll save it for another post, hehe) anyways in order for us to go together (the halloween cruise is full now) we decided to move our reservation. so here we are, hope you'll have us. There's me, my DH, DS 16, DD12 (13 feb10), and DS 7, as well as our extended family. their DS will be 3 (I think)

Hey Lynn weren't you also booked originally on the halloween cruise?

So do we have a head count? Any big plans? Meets? FE? I'm so excited:cool1:

This will be our 4th disney cruise. we did the eastern (our first) in january, it was cooler but not to cold we couldn't enjoy the beaches.

Are plans for now is to take the red eye in, then take a shuttle ...with happy limo (used them before and loved it)

Question... any one remember what time the gates open? is it 10am or 11am?

we have 2nd seating (by choice) and our cabin id on deck 8, can't remember the room # right now.

I'm so excited to meet all of you.

Ok lastly for today........

DAY ONE

What will you have them announce you as?

Haven't decided yet, but want to do something funny...

Lunch where do you perfer to eat?

Parrot Cay definitely!

What will you do during the sail away party?

Depends on what the kids want to do. This time we'll probably watch from deck 10 for a bit and then go look for dolphins, walk around...

OKAY WELL GOOD NIGHT!!!!

We'll sit with you! And I promise not to let the kids pelt you with bread! :lmao: As long as you will be tolerant of our wine allergy, that is. If we don't drink it, we get really cranky.

Welcome Royfam!! Glad to have y'all along!

So do we have a head count? Any big plans? Meets? FE? I'm so excited:cool1:

Don't know total head count but we have 8 families signed up for FEs so far. Page 3 (I think) has all that info in a post. We are also doing a scavenger hunt (1 kids/family, 1 adults), a magnet exchange and plan to set up some meets to play cards and such for whoever is interested. PM me if you want to join in!

This will be our 4th disney cruise. we did the eastern (our first) in january, it was cooler but not to cold we couldn't enjoy the beaches.

I am hoping for a warmer winter this January. We did western this same time this past January and it was nice, but would have been nice to be a bit warmer! Of course I am sure all the Canadians were sweating with the heat!

I cannot WAIT 'til January!!!:banana: Of course, thanks to Lokkabear I am going to have to work out extra hard to get into a bathing suit by January! ;)

Good afternoon everyone! I think I spent my daughter's whole nap reading this thread!!! We just booked our first Disney cruise last week and I am super excited! DH and I have cruised a half dozen times but it will be DD's first cruise. She is 2, almost 3 by sail date. She is born April Fool's Day (4/1) so we still have a couple months before she hits that magic "3" number for the Kids Club. However she is already over 3 feet tall so I'm hoping they may let her in. Even if one of us has to watch over her. We've been to Disney 3 times with her already, and November will be our 4th. Saw the great KSF offer and got a great deal on a verandah room so we booked it. A secret is that we are hoping to be prego with #2 by sail date. We are on deck 6 and interested in the FE's...but I am new to the Disney cruise thing and will need to do some research. Will PM the organizer later in the day when DD goes back to bed.

As for ports, we don't really have any plans. DH and I have done this itinerary before and will probably take DD's lead on what she wants to do. I'm up for the magnets, tshirts (although DH may or may not do it....DD and I will!), etc. Someone posted about the Castaway Cay 5K and I would really like to do this (even if prego). I've done 5Ks before and DH wanted to train for one. It would be a fun thing to train for together so we're going to try. I just hope they will allow DD in a jogging stroller. :confused3

Question regarding the shellfish allergy. DH has a shellfish allergy as well and I don't eat fish. DD has never had it and don't plan to have her try on a cruise. Do we skip that Luminere's restauarant then? Is it mostly seafood? I always carry Benadryl on me, but would prefer not to use it.

Any other tips for toddlers? Is my little girl going to be the youngest of the group???

Look forward to meeting everyone!

Welcome to the group!! We're excited to have you with us! If I remember correctly Lumiere's had some non-seafood items and if you let them know ahead of time about the allergy, DCL will do something as an alternative for y'all...

HEY ROY FAMILY ...............

Yes we changed from the Halloween Cruise.
Dh had lostr his job at that point we we cancelled our trip.
Somedays now i wish we had not, as hindsight is 20 20. DH got a great job and i do LOVE THE HALLOWEEN CRUISES and they were doing some really fun things! I had purchased alot of stuff and mailed it to nenner for their TOT.

BUT that being said we actually ended up with 2 cruises, i took 3 girls with me on a 5 night Wonder cruise got a FL resident rate and now a KSF.....KEEP THOSE DISCOUNTS COMING DCL!!!!!! YAAAAHHH

TINKER and LOKKA......

Do you think we could all join up for a large table for dinner?
My kids dont mind Wine (actually they probablly like me better when i have had a drink) and we know all to well that childrens health issues come first and foremost.

My kids are not messy eater and are teens so decently behaved.....I figure they wont be at dinner to much any way.

I know they have a couple tables that seat 12 we sat at a table for 12-14 our first cruise with all Dissers it was a MAGICAL time!

You guys have 2nd seating?????????

I am a little worried about the weather........
But looking up the average it shouldnt be too cold.
I would really like to do at least one water excursion like snorkleing so hopefully it will be warm enough!

SPEAKING OF SNORKLEING...............
ANY ONE SNORKLED AT CC.

We did this in June, and i was a little disapointed in the snorkleing there..so we probably wont do that agin, unless DS wants to...although we did find the mickey and the minnie and a sunken ship it is very far out and once you have looked it is really hard to get back in i was with 2 young teen girls and we struggled to get back.

Dh and i had went on a weekend NCL and even though EVERYTHING SUCKED on that cruise in comparison there island was pretty awesome!

ANd lastly for tonight.......
ANY ONE LIKE ADAM LAMBERT?

i am thinking of trying to find tickets to his concert for next weekend here in the FORT.

We go to KEY WEST Next FRIDAY!!!! WOOHOO, for BIKE WEEK
Then thought i would end it with a ADAM LAMBERT CONCERT.

O M G

I am like the biggest Adam fan EVER! DH and I saw him when he came to Baltimore both last year (Idols tour) and then this year with Alison and Orianthi. If you can go, DO IT! I am admittedly not even a big music fan at all, but I just went crazy over him and think he is an amazing performer (and all around super nice guy too).

Welcome, Melissa!! Glad to have you here! I am the one who has a severe shellfish allergy. I am pretty sure (from browsing the menus) that every restaurant will have at least some seafood and also some non seafood selections every night. I'm betting he'll easily find some safe stuff each night without having to special order. The kids' menus probably will have the standard kind of kid selections you would expect, with little or no seafood. This will be my 5th cruise and I've never had any trouble at all with the other lines when simply stating at dinner that I had the allergy. From all that I've heard, DCL really goes the EXTRA mile to keep you safe, including having a dedicated area of the kitchen just to prepare meals for food allergic guests. DS6 has a severe peanut and tree nut allergy and so, while I rarely worry about myself, I am super glad DCL will take good care in his regard. We'll definitely fill out the medical forms in advance and I will ask on there that they call us to discuss options before we leave (this is SOP). My only advice would be for your DH to be very cautious around the buffets (breakfast would be fine though). Cross contamination there is always a possibility. In my 38 years of dealing with this allergy, all of the close calls I have had have been after eating off a buffet. We plan to use the buffets sparingly, and mostly for breakfast, and stick to the counter service and dining rooms the rest of the time. I have heard that with advance notice, your family could go to a buffet and have the chefs prepare a special kitchen meal for the allergic person or persons and then just bring it out to you. :)

But looking up the average it shouldnt be too cold.

I am perpetually cold, even in summer and I was worried that it would be too cold for me but it was great. Water was REALLY cold but even I got in!

Fun! What kind of bike do y'all have? We have a Harley Fat Boy. Don't get to ride nearly as much since the kiddos came along, but love it when we get the chance!
