Jan 22, 2005 Eastern Cruise MAGIC Anyone?

PiperG, I think it is a psychological thing. I suggest 7 days of intense treatment in a relaxing environment. Do you think we could get approval for that? There aren't any openings until Jan.

Happy Wednesday everyone!!

Can someone tell me how it works with your kids and the cards. Can I put a limit on their card, so they can't spend a ton of money. Someone told me there is an arcade room onboard, and I don't want my kids to run up a huge bill playing these games. Also, when did they do away with the soda card?

Thanks for any suggestions/ideas!

Kim

I can't remember if I have posted this or not. . . . .

I wanted you all to know that as we head out to sea towards St. Thomas, we will pass the Wonder coming back from CC. There have been several threads on this board discussing the time of that passing (between 10:00 and 11:00).

DH, DS7 and I have a starboard side verandah room. We will definitely be sitting on the verandah that first night looking for the Wonder.

Sorry adckam, I can't answer your question. We have been very lucky, and DS has not yet found the arcade after three cruises. I am sure it would be hard to keep him out of there if he found it!

Just wanted to check in. We, DW, DS 4 (will be 5 on 2/10) and myself will be sailing on the 1/22/05 Eastern. This will be our first cruise.

We are flying down 2 days early and going to MK on the Friday before. DS was a 1/2 inch too short to go on 40" rides last October, so we wanted to take him again.

Staying in a Cat 6/Deck 6 room.

Checking in. I will be bringing myself, DH, and DD(4). This is my first cruise! I am so excited to have found this board, I spend time each day finding answers to all of my questons (and some I didn't think about!). It's definately addicting! Counting down the days!!::MinnieMo

What is your cabin number? We are 6548, also Cat 6. You will love the cruise! Our DS was almost 5 when we did our first land and sea package. Even now, with another trip to WDW under our belt, he prefers the cruise to the parks. On each of our three prior cruises, we spend a lot of time on the verandah. Its perfect to relax out there while DS is snoozing. I can almost taste the midnight room service we order. YUMMY!

This particular cruise is a suprise! I can't wait to see the look on his face when we head to the airport and tell him where we are going!

PiperG, we are just down the hall from you, 6580.

When you took your DS for the first time, did you do many excursions? Our son loves the beach and we wanted him to have time playing in the sand, but DW and I want to see some of the islands we're going to. We were originally looking at doing a couple of tours per stop, but are now looking at doing a morning tour and then to the beach.

Also, what rotation did you find best for your family? We requested PLA so that we are in L for Formal Night and A for Semi-Formal. This also would put us in P for Tropical Night.

Lastly, did you do early or late seating? Which do you find better? We are currently set for early, but with the time change (same as yours) we'd be eating 2 hours early when out to sea. We'll probably get adjusted to local time, so I'm concerned that late seating may be too late.

Thanks.

Hi!

We have not done any excursions since our first cruise. At that time, DS was almost 5 and we did the glass bottom boat tour. From an excursion perspective that went fine. Since then, we have decided we like being on the ship best! Hence, we have pretty much stayed on the boat and enjoyed the pools and other activities while our fellow passengers are out on the various islands. Our life goes 100 MPH, so we see hanging around on the ship as the ultimate in relaxation!

Having said that, we are planning to do Great Bay Beach in St. Maarten. The water taxi right off the dock will take you across the bay to that beach. You can rent chairs and umbrellas, build sand castles, play in the water etc, then take the water taxi back to the ship for lunch.

For dinner, we had the rotation you refer to, which was great. We just got lucky (didn't request it) so we will see if we get that rotation again.

We always do early seating. DS usually wolfs down dinner, and we take him over to the club between courses. That allows DH and I to have a little bit of adult conversation during the latter part of dinner, and then we can head off to the shows after that.

I can't wait for this cruise. this will be our 2nd Disney cruise. went on the Western Carribean last Jan 31st. 2004. I'm Traveling with my husband, DD age 6 and DD age 4. looking for a playmate for my 4-year old daugther at the Oceaneers club. Last time she was a little leary of going in without big sister. And, since they'll again be in different age groups in the club (3-4) and the (5-7), I'm hoping to find some other little 4-year olds that she can connect with at the beginning of the cruise. we loved the last Disney cruise.

anyone know of any singles cruising? My brother is going along too and he's a single guy (age 38). any single mom's going?

can't wait to hear from everyone.

They should be reading 199 days!!!!! Yeah, we made it to under 200 at last.

The clocks are off for the next day or so. But that doesn't stop the celebration.
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

The clock shows up in the post preview, so I did get to see it.

Hello Everyone!

I'm sooo excited to find this site. This is our first family cruise (DH and I were on a RCCL cruise last summer and had a blast). We have a DS-11, DD-8 and DD-6.

Don't get too excited about the ship being empty, I just booked (2 Cat 10 with connecting rooms) and ended up on deck 1.

I'm very new at this and have a few questions: 1) What is REAS? 2) What is a Passporter?

DreamWeaver5 (love the name). Welcome. The REAS is the Romantic Escape at Sea package. Check it out on the DCL site. The passporter is a guide to DCL. It has information on every aspect of your cruise, from where to stay the night before, staterooms, activities, excusions, port information, everything you need to know to plan a magical trip. DD (will be 12) found a formal gown this weekend. She was so excited to be buying cruisewear. We are stocking up on shorts, etc. that we can't find locally in the winter months. I ordered the little fold out maps that they hand out on the ship, for St. Martin and St. Thomas, from www.caribmart.com. The site tells you that the maps are free at the port, but that doesn't help me when I'm not there. BTW, has anyone used shoretrips.com? I can't find any DCL excursions that interest us. Let the planning continue...

Hello Everyone!

Well, time to check in also. Our family will also be on the 1/22/05 Eastern Magic cruise. I'm DH, with DW, DS7, and DD4. DS will be 8 and DD will be 5 by the time we step foot onto the ship.

We will be flying in the day before, via FF miles, and staying at the MCO Hyatt. Bowing to DW's wishes, DCL transfer will be our mode transportation.

We both have stressful jobs (I'm eCommence Project Manager and DW is a Psychologist in private practice) and look forward to a stress free time on the Magic!

We have a Cat 6 cabin, 6618.

This will be our second cruise, having gone on Carnival two years ago.

Piper G, thanks for leading the charge in starting this thread!

My daugthers are the same age, and I was concerned about this, too! Let's try to get them together.

Boxkite,

My DS will still be 7 at the time of our cruise (turns 8 in March). So, he will still be in the club while your DS is in the lab. However, the 5-7s do a lot of activities in the lab so maybe we can hook the boys up.

We expect to arrive at the port about 10:30 or so. We are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn the night before and will have Happy Limo pick us up at about 9:15 a.m.

PiperG, that would be great to hook the boys up together.

We already have our Home Depot "Mouse Ear" green paint samples!

I put it in numerical and alphabetical order this time because it is getting so long! It's easier this way!

We have alot of kids coming, should be lots of friends made! We are still looking into the Radisson for the day before (have stayed there twice on previous cruises). But are also looking into RON JON. We shall see!

Hi,
Well...Myself and my friend a very excited about this cruise in January. Got the DVD from DisneyCruisLines and its awesome. Anyone who hasn't gotten this DVD on the cruise should definately get it. And its FREE!

I do have a couple of questions if anyone could help..

1) When do you make reservations for Palo? Do you have to wait til you get on the cruise? Also, which is better..the brunch or the dinner? Or both?

2) I hear there are beer/wine cards. 10 drinks for one price. Is this true? If so, where can I purchase one..or two..or three. lol.

3) If you don't book any excursions, is there still lots to do on the Islands? Or is it all just shopping.

I guess thats it!! Can't wait!!! Any other singles going on the cruise?

Anthonyshine, based on my research, here are some answers to your questions:

1. You can make Palo reservation shortly upon coming onto the ship . If you like good food, go for both the dinner and brunch. However if you want to only do one, do the brunch!

2. They have a glass beer mug that you can purchase. It allows for refills of 24 ounces of beer at the same price charged for the standard 16 ounces. Of course you have to carry the mug with you to dinner and bars, but if you like beer go for it! There two different wine packages you can purchase that provide a bottle of wine at dinner each night.

3. Yes, there is still lots of things to do on the island without taking any excursion, such as enjoying the beaches, shopping, and general sightseeing throughout the islands. Of course there is also the option to simply stay on the ship and enjoy the uncrowded pools!
