Jan 22, 2005 Eastern Cruise MAGIC Anyone?

Hi MCazer,

It sounds like our boys are about a year apart. We are planning to get to the port about 10:30 a.m, and I will plan to wear a lime-green ribbon so you can find us. Perhaps the boys can get to know each other early on!

We are also in a Cat 6. . . in response to Greysword's question, we are anxiously awaiting many, many hours on our verandah! We typically let DS play in the club after dinner, then put him to bed while watching a Disney movie on TV. He falls asleep while we sit on the verandah until well after midnight. We usually order room service. Even though we had a huge dinner, there is nothing like eating a yummy pizza while watching the water go by.

We are starboard (6548) and I understand we can see the Wonder coming back from CC about 11:00 or so on Sat night. We will be keeping our eyes peeled!

This cruise we are booked in 2 cat 8 rooms and 1 cat 6 room
( 6528,6522,6520 ) . Grandma and 2 of our kids are in the cat 6 room the rest of us are in cat 8 rooms. On our last 2 cruises we were in cat 10 so we feel great about moving up to cat 8. We will just have to visit Grandma's room to enjoy her verandah!

Are there any other teens going? My DD13 had a great time last year and made great friends. She is really looking forward to meeting new friends again. Our DS 14 last year enjoyed exploring the ship more than going to the teen center. Last year there were not a lot of boys his age but, he hung out with his brother ( 10 ) and they had fun. Our DD 8 loved her club and never wanted to leave. This time though she will move over to the next age level since she just turned 8. I don't know if her brother is going to be so happy having his little sister in the same club as him. Ha! Ha!

Has anyone planned their excursions yet? I'm not sure what we will be doing this time. Any ideas?

Can't Wait
Patti

We are considering doing Coral World on our own. They have a sea trekin' adventure where you get to walk out in what looks like a kind of dive suit (with the helmet thingy). We don't have all of our details worked out for transport, etc. Looking at flying in the night before, taking a limo to the port, maybe Quality Suites, and a shuttle to the port the next day at about 10:30. The passporter has been very helpful. We will probably take the DCL shuttle back to the airport so we don't have to deal with the luggage. That was too convenient. We are DH, DD12 and are staying in cat 3 #8086. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

No excursions planned as of yet, but Laurie wants to snorkle. I can't swim well, so we may need to do one of those boat trips where I can stay on deck and she can swim :p She wants to play with the Dolphins and Sting rays on CC, I think.

As for accomidations and arrival plans, we are probably going to get in the day before and stay at a otel near the airport. being our first cruise (especially with Disney), it would be great to get the "full effect", thus we are using DCL transfers for to/from the port. We will probably fly out the following Sunday, so we are not rushed. That begs the question, though, of what to do for the rest of Saturday. Visit my parents in ST. Petersburg/Clearwater (an hour away) or blow them off for more Disney!!! :smooth: Decisions...decisions

I have been keeping an eye on airline tickets. Nothing very inexpensive at the moment. From Denver, the cheapest is Northwest at $250. That is through Minneapolis, though, and since it will be winter, I would prefer a direct flight from here (either on Frontier or United).

O.k. Everyone,

I am just wondering what all of you are doing to help pass the time between now and the time you head out for Florida.

I just started the scrapbook from our Feb land and sea trip. Its so fun to look at the park and cruise pictures. I especially love the pics we bought from Shutters! Looking at them takes me right back to the ship.

Anything special that you guys do?

(DS 7 helped me wit all the smiles)

Hmmm....lets see....passing the time... :p

1) Visiting these boards nearly every day!! :hyper:

2) Doing remaining items on planning our wedding (had premarital counseling yestreday, and we are going to Oregon on Friday to speak with reception and church reps, as well as visit her family)

3) Just started reading Priate Hunters: The true story of Captain Kidd to get an old school feel for the Caribbean

4) Cheack out from library cruise books. oh, and ordered Passporter and Beauty and the Beat Disney CD from Amazon.

5) Continue planning the next three Disney trips!! :p

What????? You don't want to come to Minneapolis in January????

ROTFLOL. We don't want to be here either, which is why we are escaping.

It isn't that I don't want to COME to Minnesota, rather I don't want to get STUCK in Minnesota due to a heaving blizzard with record 80 feet of snow burying us in the airport! :p Um...ok, that was a tinnsy winssy exagerated, btu you get the idea.

Although, if we did fly through MN, we may be on your flight, Piper!! Then we can all breath a sigh of relief as the plane lifts off for the Magic of the Magic :sunny: :hyper:

I spend way too much time on this board. I've been reading (and rereading) my passporter, working on my things to be packed list, looking for deals on airfare (269.00 from Charleston, WV right now) and transportation, and hotel and excusions and checking out the Mickey paint chips at Home Depot and... There are so many things to do. I have a 3-ring binder that contains all my trip plans, hotel and transportation options, etc and things I've gotten from the DCL website about spa services, etc. I love planning trips.

Greysword, you could consider snorkling on CC. The water isn't very deep, they give you vests and I think there is a rope or something for you to follow. We didn't do it in Jan., too cold. Reserving snorkling equpt. for three was 75.00 so this year we will wait until we get there to decide what to do. There was plenty of equipment and we might decide to rent the bikes anyway. All that can be done at the last minute. I am so excited.

Patti, we are just 10 cabins down from you, in 6548! Its DH, DS 7 (almost 8) and myself. I know your DD will be in the Lab (DS does not turn 8 until March, so I don't think he can bump up). However, I am hoping we get to hook up while on board.

PiperG,
I see this is your second Eastern cruise - do you have any favorite places to suggest? We really haven't started to plan what we will do yet. Right now I'm just trying to get through the last 2 weeks of school with the kids. This summer I am hoping to start planning what excursions- start looking at airfare - make reservations for the night before the cruise - you get the idea. So, any info you can share would be great!

Hi!

Actually, we are the wrong people to ask about excursions. Our life is so hectic, that we choose to relax and do nothing. DS loves shuffleboard. We play lots of that while everyone else is off the ship. We also spend a lot of time in the pool while folks are on the islands.

We're going, too! Myself, DH, DD6,DD4, as well as DMIL,DFIL,&DSIL. Any other families with younger girls?

I'm so happy to find this thread!! We will also be on the Jan 22 Eastern Route. Myself, DH, DD15, DD11, DD7 and the foreign exchange student that we will be hosting, we will call her "DD17." We went on this route two years ago and are so excited to be able to share it with our "DD17".

We gave our children a choice to go on the Disney Cruise again or go to Hawaii, and they chose the cruise!! We are in a cat 6 with a cat 11 across the hall.

Our "DD17" arrives on August 14 and we have so much to do before she arrives!! We are going to suprise her for her birthday, which is in September, with the announcement of the cruise!!

We are so excited!!!!
