Jan 22, 2005 Eastern Cruise MAGIC Anyone?

She looks great. I hope they keep her neat and pretty for us. The weather outlook for our trip looks really good so far. We are almost there. :cool1:

I am going to look for a "live from the 1/15 Magic" thread and ask them to keep the ship nice for us. LOL. Quite frankly, I am going nuts knowing that a week from today it will be us on the ship!

Jill, so sorry about your grandmother.

Less than a week and I am so looking forward to it. This is a crazy weekend for us, my daughters have two big cheerleading competitions and I hate it when they are back to back like that.

momemouse, we have done the "grab a cab and get to the beach" on our own on the Eastern before with some of our little ones. There were also other cruise ships in port that day making it very busy. However, we went early and came back by lunchtime, and it went really well that way. The beach was gorgeous and although the driver was a little crazy, the taxi drive was quite scenic (if you can call that open air thing a taxi). Very inexpensive and our little ones had a great time. I think last time on St. Thomas we went to Megans Bay and may do that beach again.

We are still waitlisted for early dining and I am not gonna be too happy with late but guess we will have to make the best of it. Just that my kiddos love the evening programming in the clubs and it seems to work better with early dining.

Hope everyones parties are a success.

What ages are your daughters again? My youngest DD (6) does competative cheerleading in NOVA. Fortunately we have Jan off and won't compete again until mid Feb.

Laura,

Well, we have five dds that do cheer (five do all-star competitive and the four older also do school competitive and school recreational). We are only taking our two middle children on this cruise dds 3.5 and 8.5 and they both cheer, but have the next two weeks off. Our other dds (on the varsity senior squad) ages 10, 13 and 15 don't have a break so they are missing a cruise for cheer, how insane. But, they are going to UCA Nationals at Disney in March so they will still get a Disney fix.

I am sure my dds would love to meet a fellow cheer cruiser :flower:

I just found out some exciting news. We will be in port in St. Maarten with the Queen Mary 2, the largest cruise ship in the world. We sailed past her on her maiden voyage last January, and it was quite a site to see. From what I remember, she is nearly twice the tonnage of the Magic. The crew came out from everywhere to see her.

I read here a lot more than I post, but I will be cruising with my wife, and my parents will be staying in another cabin.

I thought you all might like to know this.

We did get early dining (all eight of us like we were originally waitlisted for,) but changed it back to late because we thought that it would be better if our children (9-3) were better rested for the shows and didn't care as much about dinner. Hearing you say that about the children's programming concerns me that we may have made the wrong choice!

I guess we'll just have to learn from experience. (This is all of our first cruise with children.) We'll have to "live and learn."

I wouldn't be too upset about late seating with kids. We did it last year with a 3 year old girl and 6 year old girl...are doing it again this year, by choice.

It is so great that you do not have to rush to dinner, you can enjoy the ship in the late afternoon....we would just give our kids a late afternoon snack. They didn't even nap. Then we got ready and went to the shows before dinner. Let the kids eat their dinner while we did appetizer, etc...then one of us would run them to the kids club for movies and we would enjoy our entree alone. It worked really well for us. They would actually "sleep late" which was a treat for us! :cool1:

Don't worry about the late seating. It works wonderful for some families.

Just that my particular family is not one that prefers it. We did have late seating (not by preference) on one cruise and my kids hated going to the show, sitting through dinner, and then going to the club and sitting through a movie. They honestly much preferred the early dinner and then going to the show (if it appealed to them and they hadnt already seen it on four previous cruises) and/or then heading to the clubs for activities.

My dds also did quite a bit of pool time during the afternoon and are non nappers and barely made it through a late seating. If this is your first cruise you will be fine with late seating :earboy2: Mine on the other hand look more forward to the clubs and their activities than the shows.

Hooray, less than a week to go! :cool1:

Oh no, less than a week to go! We haven't even started to pack! :scared1:

Anyone else not packed yet?

To top it off, we leave for WDW on Wednesday afternoon for 3 nts prior to Magic. I guess I know what we're doing today/tonight.

We have early seating, but we do the same thing. DS7 always eats his meal while we are doing appetizers. Then, one of us runs him up to the club and gets him checked in (there are never any lines at that time) and comes back down to enjoy the rest of the meal.

I always wondered if our dining companions thought that was rude? :guilty: DS usually spends the daytime hours with us, and the evenings at the club. We figure. . . it is his vacation to and if that makes him the happiest, it makes us happy as well!

Hi All
Hope everyone has their docs by now!

I know some of us will be heading out anyday now so I thought I would check in on our meets.

Is there a meet and greet plan????

and is the tea for sure? If so is it still Monday and what time?
Don't want to miss it.
My mom is finally feeling better so it looks like she will come if that is OK.

Anything else we should know?

We head out of NJ on Friday....We are still not packed. (We just had another death in the family so we are in total upheaveal)
we will see you all Saturday

CAN'T WAIT!!

Argggggggggggggggggggggggggggh. No. We leave for WDW on Tuesday. They sure better arrive at the travel agent tomorrow.

YIKES- there's no mail today; not sure if Fedex/UPS is working. Have you called DCL to see what you can do if they don't arrive before you leave? This is certainly not what you need to deal with while trying to pack and get everything together!

I live in Canada, so no holiday here. But happy Martin Luther King Jr. day to you all. A truely great man the whole world should celebrate.

I just received them....Stateroom 2570. Wahooooooooooo. :Pinkbounc

JimmyJackJunior,
Hip Hip Hooray!!! Now you can travel Tuesday without the added stress of missing cruise documents!

See you on the boat.
