Jan 2010 Code Watch

Waiting on some great deals for Jan. 2010~ :)

We are too. I am waiting to book until the deals come out. I almost booked the Dolphin today for $189 a night but decided to wait for what I hope is a sweet Disney deal!! Pixie dust to all of us waiting. pixiedust:

Adding on to the waiting list. We're hoping for a trip for a family of 6 January 15 - 23. Considering trying to rent DVC points, but would love a good deal at the Poly. Or free dining! We never manage to have a trip during FD times!

Hi everyone after many years I have finally joined a Disney Forum!
Our family usually go to Disney once a year and we like to stay at the moderates. (our favorite is CBC). I did have a question. I usually book at the time the discounts are offered. But this year we are wanting to go Jan. 3-9. We have never been during this time. Should we book now? without a discount, and if so if one is offered how does Disney handle that?. Thanks for all your help.

If you can afford the deposit now, most people usually book. Just to have a room saved. Then when a discount comes out, you would just call Disney and ask them to update the reservation with the new discount. Fairly easy! :)

Does this also apply if you are with a travel agent, or if I want to have the room saved, should I just book through Disney. I guess my question is...is it easier to get the discount applied through Disney or an agent?
I'm also looking into Jan 23-30 and would love a discount. How often does Disney offer specials in Jan?

I've never used a Travel Agent and never will. I hate having my vacation in someone elses hands or to have to go through a middle man to book anything. I know some people swear by them though so maybe they can help you out more!

I know where your coming from. I too like to have that control. And so far quotes I have gotten have been the same as through Disney.

do most of you do online or with a disney agent over the phone?

lol.. my DH and I were just talking about this last night. I'm way too much of a control freak, and quite honestly consider myself much more of a dis expert than they can be. I did once go through AAA to book because they had access to rooms and could see nothing available online but that was only in desperation!

I'm normally a 'do everything online' person but for booking I call a disney agent. If the resort is booked, free dining offer, etc... I like having someone on the phone to tell me what else is available, etc. I noticed online they don't always give you everything available right away. You have to dig for the other hotels. :confused3

And to the PP that mentioned they know more about disney than a TA? Exactly! :thumbsup2

When do AP rates for January usually come out?

I found my old email from last year and it's dated 10/29/08. I hate to think we have to wait until the end of October, so I'm hoping they release Jan AP discounts earlier, afterall, they released fall/winter discounts earlier this year. We have our DVC room booked, we are just hoping to go in a couple of days earlier if the price is right.

We are in for Jan. 19-26 also. Our flights are booked but I haven't booked the room/package for our family of 5. I can't decide on 2 rooms at Pop (hoping for connecting rooms which I still can't figure out if they can be guaranteed or not) or POR. Any deal would be super! I will be booking our room/package in the next few days for sure. WAHOO!

The connecting rooms at POP can be guaranteed. We are going 1/19 - 1/25 and staying at POP. We reserved two rooms and asked for connecting rooms. Our online reservation states: CONNECTING ROOMS GUARANTEED FOR FAMILIES

I'm too much of a control freak Type A person to put my trip in someone else's hands. Unless a TA gives me something worth it as an incentive, I'll always do it myself. Plus I enjoy the planning. :cool1:

Sure hope POP still considers us a family. I requested connecting rooms, but our kids are 18 and 20 ... adults in Disney's eyes. It just wouldn't feel right being separated from them!

I hear ya loud and clear! ;) I will NEVER give up control of planning on ANY trip, let alone a DISNEY trip! :lmao:

I just asked that our rooms be next door to each other. Our reservation says TW(traveling with) and our other reservation #.

DH and I are celebrating our 25th. We were originally gong to go somewhere alone but I felt weird having the 2 girls home from college and asking them to babysit! This way we will all get to enjoy a nice vacation but kids are very comfortable navigating the world by themselves if we want to do something alone as a couple:lovestruc.

I booked two connecting rooms at Pop yesterday! Wahoo!:cool1: Now if some great deals/pins/codes would come out I would be super happy! I am going to start looking for some out of the ordinary things to do for this trip-in addition to all the classic stuff. Can't wait!:tinker:

When are you going and I would love to know what out of the ordinary stuff you come up with? We are at Pop 12/31-1/9. We probably won't be on the property on 12/31 until 6pm so I need a plan. I also need to pick one day for US/IOA-maybe and plan a day for DH and I for our 25th anniversary and a day for our DS's 17th birthday. Rest of the week I am going to let the older kids decide what they want to do. I chose the QS dining plan so they can come and go as they please. Does anyone know how long the Christmas decorations are up for? Hoping for some nice warm weather and of course a code:wizard:

We will be there Jan. 19-26. I don't know what I'll come up with but will for sure be scouring these boards for some ideas. Of course our idea of "out of the ordinary" probably won't be the same as others. If I find some ideas I will start a post!
