Jan 2010 Code Watch

Hi experts!
HELP! We have a 7/4 discount booked at POFQ, but really may have trouble paying for a whole week of food and tickets. Can someone give me an idea of what the room-only discount was for mods and values last year for the last week of Jan? I see that code was released in early Dec, but I can't find an idea on pricing.
Thanks!

We were there MLK weekend last year. I stayed in a mod/POFQ. The rate was $89 (S/Thur) and $99 Fri/Sat. Since I stayed during MLK weekend there were no AP discounts that weekend at the value resorts. Just beware sometimes there are discounts for weekends and sometimes not. Sometimes they tell you there isn't, but there is. Keep an eye on the boards and watch what folks are saying. I'm ready for some AP discounts to be released as I have a trip planned for January, but wanted to go a few days prior to my DVC stay.

When you say "of food and tickets" did you purchase a dining plan too? Because 4/3 doesn't include the meal plan in the base price, just park tickets and a few other perks. If you purchased dining was it QS or Regular dining plan? If you already have AP's, the cheapest route(if you don't want to spend any more than necessary this year) would probably be to go with AP room only with QS added, you don't have to buy a park ticket with this package if you have kids, or pay for food OOP if your not big eaters.

The way we eat, it would probably be the same price for us to do a combo of QS-DDP and OOP, OOP completely, or DDP. We will not have APs. I was thinking with 4/3 we pay the 4-day ticket price. If we go with room-only we would stay 4 nights and buy 4 day tickets. So really the price difference is whatever room discount I choose and 4 nights vs. 7 nights of dining. So to rephrase what I said originally, I am concerned about budgeting for the longer week vacation. We'd prefer to get 4 nights at a discounted rate instead of a week-long package. I wanted to know what the non-holiday promotional rates were for a mod a the end of Jan last year for room-only. Does that make sense?
Meanwhile I did get a PIN for regular season which saves us $500 if I move my dates to May and stay 4 nights instead of 7 in Jan. Still, we'd rather do value season.

Hi Folks - I have been lurking for quite some time and occassionally post too!

I have a quick question(s) for those of you out there...

I am trying to decide between two weeks, second and third weeks of January.

We have two ressies: one through a TA and the other through Disney. There is only $500 difference between the two prices (with the new 7/3 disney deal). :confused3

This is our first trip staying on site...what are my chances on getting either a code or another discount on top of the 7/3? Any thoughts?

Also, is MLK day down there busy? I am considering paying the extra $500 since the kids would be out of school only 4 days instead of 5. Unless I hear (from you wonderful DISers) that MLK week is busy.

Confused, so am I. Plus I still have to do my ADRs tomorrow. :scared1:

Thanks folks, I can't tell you how much I appreciate all your posts.:hippie:

On the codes & discounts...if you were to get a PIN code or another offer came out - free dining, for example, you would have to choose WHICH promotion to use - your PIN code, the 7/3 deal OR free dining. You can't combine offers.

And yes, MLK is busy - but busy by winter standards, not by summer. We went MLK last year and I have decided it's worth the extra day out of school for the lower airfare, lower hotel rates & lowest attendance possible in the parks. One benefit of MLK weekend is that park hours are extended because of the crowds. MK had EMH until 2am that weekend. We're going the first week of February and even with an extra 3 hours, MK will close at 11pm, according to current schedules (it's actually Jan 31st). However, with less people all day, hopefully it means we'll still get more in - and in less time.

Hope this helps!

Hey guys, We have ressies for CBR the first week of Jan. In the past I have requested a certain building and have never got it. This time I requested at the time I made my ressie. So what is the secret to getting the building I want. Or is it truly a matter of what is booked?:confused3

You have to fax in a request for the building you want about 3 days before arrival. At least thats what I've always heard? Never tried it though, I usually just do luck of the draw.

Thank you very much!! Busy by winter standards? I have only ever been in the winter and last time was 12 years ago on an odd December weekend. [4 parks, one day, one ride each park!! :upsidedow Not doing that again!] Still deciding! Thanks again! :hippie:

I called Disney earlier today to check on Jan. AP rates. CM said not yet, but to check back "very" regularly. "It could be any time now".

I'm waiting, too. For either AP or FL Resident rate.

Right now we have POP Century booked over MLK weekend with AAA rate.

Just got this:

As a Walt Disney World Passholder, you know you don't have to fall down stany rabbit holes to find Wonderland. Especially when you have great offers like these on a Disney Resort stay! They make it easy to experience everything from the special events to the amazing attractions you'll find during select times in 2010. Plus, because the lines may be shorter and more comfortable weather, these are also the times when you could enjoy the Disney experience most. It's a terrific time to use your Pass!

Just saw this on mousesavers:

Disney Rewards Visa Winter Discount

Disney Rewards Visa cardholders can take advantage of a 40% discount at most Walt Disney World resort hotels. Valid most nights: 1/1/10-2/11/10. Some resorts will NOT be available for all dates. Use code OIZ.

To calculate the rates, take 40% off regular "Rack" rates. Your stay will be priced on a day-by-day basis, so rates may be higher or not available on weekends.

On hold now!

Edited to add: It worked! I just asked for the disney visa 40% discount and he changed my existing ressie from WL to Poly and applied the discount. He didn't ask whether I had a Disney visa, but since the deposit for the existing ressie had been made with one maybe that info was on file already. Whoopeeee!!

You say this is a PIN coded offer? I've never heard of that for APs. Usually AP rates are available to anyone. Is there a 3-letter code on the offer?

The CM at CRO said the code for Deluxe is NPJ.

So it sounds like a general AP Discount.

I just got the Disney Rewards Visa discount!!!!:cool1: I wanted CR Atrium club level MK view...was unavailable. But I did get......

CR Atrium Club level Bay Lake View Jan 24-26 (2 nights)
Rack Rate $1215
with $40% off $729
I saved $486

I just called and gave the CM the three letter code provided above (and on mousesavers.com) and was told by the CM that it can only be used by folks that got the email. She said I should keep an eye on my inbox to see if I get it though.

Do you mean the AP or Disney Visa code? The CM I talked to didn't even ask for the code for the Visa discount. I would call back and get a different CM, it never hurts to try again (and again if necessary!)

It was the AP discount. You are right, I should call again. Thanks for reminding me about that!

Do only certain AP holders get the email or will all. I have an AP and a Disney Visa, but would perfer the AP discount so I can get the discount on the value resort. We are doing a split stay Jan 10-14 @AKV and then cash stay at POP Jan 14-17. Will there be no discount for that weekend since it is MLK weekend?
