Jan 2009 Code Watch

When I called earlier today, there were pretty much across-the-board AP discounts available at both Wilderness Lodge and Port Orleans (except for Standard Club rooms at WL's Old Faithful Club). My dates are January 23-28.

Here are the room rates I was quoted....
WL
Standard $149
Courtyard View $189
Club Level - Junior Suite $525

Port Orleans (both Riverside and French Quarter)
Standard $89
Waterview $114
*FYI - "Waterview" can be many things...an obstructed view of Sassagoula River, a good river-view, pool-side, good pool-view, long and inconvenient walk from the food court :rolleyes1 . It is not what I would always call a preferred or premium room location.

Good luck everybody,
agnes!

Congrats! I assume that is with tax. What are your dates? I couldn't get it for Jan 28 to Feb 3. Maybe I should call back and see if any of the nights are available. I'm paying 329.90/night with tax so that would save me about $50/night.

I woke up a bit late and had to rush to a parent teacher conference. I called when I got to work-maybe I should have called on my cell phone from the school.:headache: But I checked availability at rack rate earlier this week and CL wasn't available for my dates at full price so I really didn't think I'd get AP.

Thanks! Yes, the rate is with tax. Reg rack rate is $388.13 including tax, so the AP rate is $108/night discount. Not too shabby! Since it's just DH and I this trip, it's a way better savings than free dining. Our dates are 1/23-1/30 and I tried to add another night onto the end and they were booked, so I'm going to keep checking. Good luck with your dates!!!

..the Disney folks told me if a Disney Visa deal comes out I can add that as well.... which surprised me because I didn't think you could stack codes...

I don't think that you can stack codes--they told me before when I had a 40% off pin code or free dining that I'd have to choose.

Hi everyone, I did the math, and for a five night stay, it's doesn't make sense for me to get an annual pass. I would save $500, but the pass will cost a little more than so it would almost be a wash :laundy: (wow, I finally got to use that smile)! The only advantage would be that I might be able to go back to Disney later in the year, since I would have a free pass. Man, that sounds too dangerous, as I still haven't figured out how to pay for this trip:rotfl: Glad that some of you could take advantage of the AP. Maybe Disney's pricing strategy is to see how many rooms are left after the AP-ers make their reservations? :scared1: Well, I am keeping my fingers, toes, legs and my t's crossed. COME ON VISA!!!!!!!

What I did was keep my AAA reservation and I am going to call my agent and have her apply the code... if she can get it for me great .... I also made a reservation with Disney... which I can cancel should my AAA agent be able to get it for me.... so right now I have reservations with both..... actually I have a room only resrvation, a package reservation and a AAA reservation.... and I will cancel 2 as soon as I figure which is best....the Disney folks told me if a Disney Visa deal comes out I can add that as well.... which surprised me because I didn't think you could stack codes...

Alrighty, I just made my second 'room only' reservation. Thanks at least now I feel covered. Now hoping for Disney Visa or pin code!

So much for historic trends! Thought the VISA offer would be out before AP room discounts. Originally, I had the dining plan on our package. I decided it didn't work for us, so I cancelled it - and all our dinner reservations except Chef Mickey's. Now I'm wishing I had held onto them in case the offer IS free dining. Everyone will be calling at the same time to try and book restaurants...is it worth it to re-book today in case free dining comes out? I can always cancel them again.
You can make your dining reservations without a dining plan. You could go ahead and call and make them and if you didn't want/need them you can cancel.

do you mean the next time you go to Disney it will be a free pass if it is within a year? How is that? Free tix?

When I called to find out if becoming an AP would be worth it I also asked the CM what the possibility of free dining would be in January and he laughed at me like he was getting some sort of enjoyment out of all of us calling desperate for codes. He said he highly doubts it.
I hope he's absolutely wrong but I guess I will have to wait and see.

I would love to be a fly on the wall in the lunch room when all of the CM's talk about all of us crazy code obsessed callers. :lmao:

Pooh! I called to add the AP rate to my ressie at Pop Century and was told that it wasn't available. All that was available for my dates (Jan. 1-4) is ASSports and it's a preferred room which means less savings! What should I do?? Yes...it would save us some $ but I really like the atmosphere at the other places better.

I did notice that the dates on the AP website said that values were for Jan. 2 -15 so is that why I am not getting a rate at the Pop or ASMo??? B/c we are checking in on Jan 1? If so, could I book the reg. rate for that date of 82.00 and then apply the 49.00 to the other nights??

Anyone know?? TIA! :confused3

ALSO- Do you know if you can add the Dining Plan later on before our trip to this AP rate??

Without actually doing the math, I think I would probably be in the same situation. And I don't see us making another Disney trip this year....too many other places that we really need to go (visit family, etc.).

I'm still holding out hope for a decent code later this week for the non-AP and non-Visa people. Otherwsie, I'll be investigating the AAA option.

Just to let you know AAA is 20% room rate for January reservations and my AAA plus is around 85.00 for the year but that's not the basic plan. Actually the 20% room discount for a value paid for my AAA for the year plus some. I love AAA, have had it for years. Just FYI

Just got the WL for Jan. 7-13 for $189 plus tax per night. This is a courtyard view room. Woods view not available for these dates, but standard rooms were. AP room rate.

I just booked Poly Garden View for my dates of Jan 3-9 for $284/night. I'll just save about $70 once I buy an annual pass (I had the AAA rate before). I'm happy for any savings.

Also waiting for any other deals which might save me more...and that way I won't have to buy the AP!!

Interesting point (that maybe all of you already know)...you cannot use a children's Annual Pass, only an adult Annual Pass...that would have been a great way to save another $55. Bummer :thumbsup2

ALSO- Do you know if you can add the Dining Plan later on before our trip to this AP rate??

When I called to add AP rate she told me about the DDP and I told her I was not sure yet. She told me I could call and have it added later, but it needed to be at least 72 hours before we arrive.

OK! So, I went online and did some moving around of dates and can get availability at the Pop for nights of Jan. 2-4 at 49.00 per night.

Can I keep the Jan. 1 night rate at the rack rate of 82.00 and then make a "second" ressie for Jan. 2-4 at the AP rate?? Do I have to pay another deposit? Will I have to move to another room after the first night?

And can I add the Dining Plan to this trip if I get the AP rate??? Someone please help me! HA! I am lost! :scared1:

I just got the AP rate on my CSR ressie. I saved $135.03. The did not have the standard though...only waterview. This one was for 3 nights. We have 2 nights at the Poly, but all the AP rooms were booked... pooh! I really need a code for the Poly! Even 2 nights there is breaking the bank!

Good luck to everyone else...

Stacie

Your problem is correct Jan.1 is messing you up. I would call back and book from the 2nd and the keep my regular rate for the 1st. The only drawback is you will have to recheck in but most likely will keep the same room.

Seriously? If that is so, then I am gonna call back and talk to a CM again! I think I might can fix this all and just have the rack rate for that first night! Thanks for the info!

Is there anyone out here who has gotten the AP rate already and also got the Dining Plan???
