Jan 2009 Code Watch

I have booked 1/30-2/7 but am now contemplating changing to 1/23-1/31 due to the Super Bowl being in Tampa. We have always gone in February so I'm wondering if there will be a big difference in the weather? Is this last week in Jan a good time--MLK weekend is over and it's before the SuperBowl. What do you seasoned January Disney-ers think? thanks!

We are going Jan 24-30 for that exact reason! Afraid of SB crowds and MLK weekend. We went last year the last week of Jan for the second PP&P Party. No lines over 20 minutes but very cold and it rained two nights including the party but we still had a magical time!:)

We've gone the last week in January three time in the last five years and another January trip earlier in the month. Out of all of those we have been fortunate to have only one cold day - high around 50 and fairly miserable temps by fireworks time. The rest of the time the highs were in the 70's and 80's. You never know about the weather, but the risk is probably not considerably greater for Jan than for Feb. Late January is my favorite time to go. We're also planning a trip for that week in 2009.

Hi Everyone....

I booked a package through a AAA TA (a name I received from someone from the Dis Boards), at the CR MK View Tower Room (originally wanted Bay but they didn't qualify for the discount) with 7 day MYW & Deluxe Dining. The package came in $300 cheaper than the same package with the Bay View Room (no discount). Since the Bay room is $40 cheaper a night....I'm saving about $550 plus by getting the Deluxe Dining (I sat and figured out all my restaurants and how much it would cost OOP) I'm saving $600 getting the Deluxe Dining.....so I'm pretty happy.

The one good thing is that I'm thrilled about is, that she is able to apply a code that should happen to come out from Disney if it's a better discount. So I'm happy abobu that too.

Happy Planning....

Can someone tell me how bad MLK weekend is? we are trying to plan a trip and I am thinking codes and dates and trying to figure out when codes come out for Jan and then you mentioned MLK...

I am waiting with you. We are thinking of going back January 31st - February 7th. Watching for a code!!!

We booked room only ressies for Jan 19-25 and our total for 7 nights was 645.75 at the Pop . Does that sound right to everyone..,.What are the tax rates down there anyway?:

At Pop, it's apparently 13.5%; due to county differences, some resorts are only 12.5%.

I booked last night and was told there's only a 7-day holding period now, and my room-only ressies have to be paid off 45 days prior! A bit surprised, but still super excited to go. Besides, I think paying it off 45 days before instead of when we get there is better, with the holidays and such, therefore we won't accidentally spend it. I'm going to call back Friday with my friends' monies in my check account and do it over the phone, as my cc has some clothes charged to it ;) and can't carry the full $400 deposit.

I booked room only and was told on my confirmation the balance is due on arrival.I plan to pay it off alittle each month which you can do over the phone.

We booked today for Jan 11-16 at WL through AAA but were not able to get a bunkbed room as either they aren't eligible or sold out through AAA. I did also book the tickets through them as well. I'll be watching for any codes though to see if I can do any better. I'd much rather have a bunk bed room and if I can get it with a code I'll take it!

Hey! We're gonna be at the WL Jan 11-16 too :woohoo: Maybe we'll see you there! :cool2:

Subscribing...we are going Jan 4-9th. Hoping for a code so we can upgrade from Pop to CSR.

Hey, we're getting closer with the new codes good through xmas. Does anyone know when historically a new code comes out?
