Jan 2009 Code Watch

UGH! I sure hope POP doesn't fill up for early Jan already! I can't even think about booking until we get confirmation of dates... in October! :headache:

Our last January trip was in 2006 and I booked in October. In fact there was a code available that made our stay in a moderate (POR) just a little bit more than a value. Now I know better to look for codes earlier, so hopefully we will get an even better deal this time. Good luck!

Oh and we were able to get all ADRs in October for Jan., too.

How much did people end up saving? And are we talking about the pins that people get mailed? (When I was 16, a 40% off your vacation code came to my parents now, and now that I'm older, I am horrified that we didn't take it.)

I got the AAA 15% off deluxe WL bunkbed room woodsview. I'm still holding out hope that my AAA TA will get me into an MK view Tower room at CR...she's suppose to be calling daily to see if anything comes available. If we can't get the tower without CL then I'm hoping a visa pin or GP code comes out so I can get into CR even on CL with a bigger discount. Right now even with the AAA 15% the atrium club level is a bit out of the budget (although my dh says he's so tired of hearing about it he's ready to pay for it :rotfl: ). I've also been checking online daily to see if anything comes up...I know a cancellation for the tower theme park rooms is probably not going to happen but I'm hoping for a little magic and a little luck and I'll get one

Ok, I feel a little better after reading your replies. I know January isn't supposed to be a busy time, but I REALLY want to be able to use a code or SOMETHING! :thumbsup2

In just went to check a price for a Club level room at Poly for my trip Jan 24 - 30, and the website said that no rooms were available! That seems crazy to me! I have my room at the Poly already, but not a club level.

The only deluxe resort I could find during my stay with a theme park view is GF and its a bit out of my price range :rotfl: I thought January was suppose to be a slow time however it looks as though things are booking up quite fast. I would bet though when the codes come out there will be alot more rooms available as people are switching to moderates or upgrading to rooms at deluxes/upgrading their own room at a deluxe and so forth. :rotfl: I'm hoping a code will upgrade someone else to CL at CR and I can take their tower MK view  I'm sure we'll be plenty happy at WL but the monorail would really be nice. Either way I hope for some more money off so I can spend more at the parks :rotfl2:

FYI

Yacht Club, 1/20/09-1/24/09, AAA rate for Standard View = $284.75+12.5%=$320.35

Now the Code/Package wait really begins.:surfweb:

Are you guys waiting for a general code, a code from Disney Visa, or from AAA? I do not have either the VISA or AAA, but am magically waiting for a code.;) Is the VISA worth applying for?

I'll take them all :rotfl2: Actually I already have AAA discount so I'm hoping for a Visa code or GP code. I'm really only hoping for it so I can get to CR. I mean if I save money where I'm at and don't move that will be a bonus but I really, really want that MK tower view room :rotfl: My daughter will be over the moon to look at Cinderellas castle when we walk into our room.
I just applied and got my visa. I figured any chance I had to get a discount and save money was worth it.

Last year and the year before seemed to be this, so seems the common thing for January. I know some lucky people got pin codes for 30-40% off. I called several times, but no pins attached to my name at all :(

OK - I know I SHOULD know about this, but what are pin codes; what does it mean to have a pin code attached to ones name; and how does one become eligible for said pin code?

Thanks!

OH - subbing to the Jan code watch...

Here is hoping for some good AP rates
I had booked the GF, gardenview for 1/10-1/14, but then I chanaged my mind and now I'll be staying at the CR from 1/12-1/16. I am treating myself for my 55th Birthday. I booked with AAA, and I am saving about $67 per night over the rack rate.
I booked a Bay Lake view with hopes of a MK view opening up.

I've gotten 2 PIN codes so far in a span of just a few weeks! Sign up for Disney website, order the dvd, I was approved for Disney Visa, and I started a thread today because I got a code today just for saving vacations while being logged in on Disney pricing things out. I know this is the reason I got the PIN because it showed my saved vacation and said save 20% and pulled up my saved reservation!!! I'm so excited :cool1:

So it's kind of random -- if you sign up for Disney sites and use the planning tool and order the DVD and apply for the card...you *might* get a pin code? Is it a "pop up" kind of thing (if so, I should disable the pop up blocker, eh?). Man o MAN would it be nice to get something like that! It would definitely make my DAY...WEEK...YEAR! We already have the credit card, and I'm signed up for Disney sites (disneyshopping, disney insider, etc)... and I've been all over that planning tool for two days...and I just ordered the DVD...

pixiedust: oh please oh please....

(That didn't sound too desparate did it???)

:rotfl: aren't we all desperate for codes to save money :rotfl:
No pop ups email or mail. I got both of mine through email although todays seems to be a 2008 code but deceptively included with a saved quote I looked at on WDW reservations for my dates in 2009...you have to click through many things to find out that the dates are for 2008 which is a bummer! It is frustrating but none the less I'm getting the codes. hopefully I'll get something I can actually use soon instead of 2008.

Subbing

I've signed up for the Disney Visa, ordered the DVD, and have been on the disney site too many times to count. Now I guess I just wait for my magical code to appear! :rolleyes1

I did the unthinkable and orderd the DVC dvd. HAHA. I think renting points is better at this point in my life. (I'm still in college.) But hopefully another sign up is all it takes....

I forgot all about AAA- duh./...
Can I check AAA rates on line or do I have to call?
Does anyone know WL a night w AAA or Pop a night AAA (we are going 1/28 to 2 /1 I hope_)

You can check the rates on line, but our AAA website is not very user friendly, there is no definitions of the room types so you have no idea what you are selecting.
I just called WDW and asked the CM to check to see if anything was available at the CR for my dates, there wasn't, but the Poly and the GF were so I choose the GF. I would just call and see if anything is available for your dates. I did need my AAA card when I booked, she asked me for the card #.

I got a AAA discount [approximately 15%] - I called Disney and asked them to apply it to my room reservation. The CM did ask for my card number.

I have heard that the same applies to a pin code -- to call Disney and ask if a PIN code has been put under your name so if you miss the email/postcard, you won't miss the discount.

Happy saving!
