By sheer luck I snagged a string of nights in a value studio for August. We have stayed @ Kidani many times and visited Jambo, just not in August. We’re a party of 4 with a teen and almost 3 yr old. I’m second guessing going when it’s so hot and my toddler is crazy. June wasn’t bad but, I hear August is crazy hot. Is it? Is it worth the small amount of points to just get away even if parks are miserable in the heat? Any experience on how tiny these value studios are compared to OKW, Boardwalk, etc? I was hoping to get into a 1bdrm but banked too soon.

Our Son's family of four stayed in one two weeks ago. A three year old and one year old in a crib (not a Pack and Play), they were not happy with the size of the room. They had to put chairs out on the balconey in order to set up the crib.

Thanks for sharing this info. I’m feeling like it might be pretty tight especially for everything we haul like stroller and crib.

We went for a week last august. It was hot like walking on the sun hot. Throw in masks and it was almost unbearable. And we are from Georgia, so we are used to hot.

We go every August since that's when our schedule allows. Don't plan on being in the parks all day if you are already worried about the heat. If you can be there at rope drop, take a pool break from 12-4 then head back to the parks at night you should be fine. If that doesn't sound fun then you might want to cancel.

If you find all of the room furniture doesn't fit, let the front desk know and they can store some items for you during your stay (like chairs, ottomans, etc.).

The humidity can get tough in August, but agree that if you break the day up into chunks, you will manage. With a 3 year old, this is probably the plan most times of year :-) . Sit down dining is a good way to break up a stretch too, if you can get an ADR. Good chance to hydrate and avoid high times for sun and crowds.

We love AKV value studios; in fact, we have one booked for November and another booked for February. With that said, it's just my DH and me. I'm not sure whether or not we would enjoy it with a small child since we've never experienced that. I can answer for traveling in the summer though. I hate it and will never go again. Being miserably hot is not my idea of a vacation.

Thanks - we’re not really used to extreme heat anyway and I’m thinking it just might be too much for the LO.

Yeah, I’m thinking if this trip is a go, it will be mostly spent at the pool/splash pad.

We have our 10th August trip coming up this year. We're from NYC (not a year-round warm location) and sunburn very easily. August is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. We typically tour the parks all day and have never had heat issues. Yes its hot. Yes you will sweat. Yes you need suntan lotion and lots of liquids. As long as you don't park yourself outside in the sun for an extended period of time, you should be fine. There are plenty of indoor attractions, shows & dining to cool off. We are going to be 5 people in a studio for half of our upcoming 2-week trip with the youngest being age 17. We've never felt the studios to be too crowded (but we do enjoy the 1-bedroom at the end of our trips). Again, it's really not that hot as long as you are not in the direct sunlight. Have fun!

hit the parks at rope drop. Make sure to get out of the heat of the day from 12pm-3pm - especially @ AK. Go back to the resort for a good long break and then go back to the parks after the sun goes down.

Maybe by August the masks will not be required anywhere. It will be HOTTTTT but I think the room will be fine. There are so many places to go at AKV that you can get quiet time and since the hotel side is not open at Jambo it is not crowded. Enjoy your stay!
