Hi :wave2:

We're booked in a pool view room, and I'm not sure what my bedding options are. It'll be just DH and I on this trip, so we don't need bunk beds, or even the second queen bed. Is there such a thing as a pool view room with a king bed?

Further to this question, I was told that there are no bunk beds available in a standard, pool view room. Is this correct?

As far as bunk beds go I have no idea rather they have them in the pool room view. If nobody here can answer for you I would call the resort and ask then you will know for sure.

Sea Spray, The king beds are just a request and are not extra charge. I don't belive they have a large amount of them though and I think a lot of them are in the handicapped rooms but I might be wrong on that. As far as the night vision glasses go they are free to use and will be out by the rock with one of the guides. I don't remember how long they are out there with them though but I am sure somebody with that info will be right along.

Bunk Beds...yes they are available in pool view rooms...and they are great!

Night Vision Goggles...I believe they are available until 11pm. Check the activity board near registration. There is no extra charge for this activity. It is located past the flamingo pond, and hot tub, overlooking Uzima Savannah.

this is a great site and very full of info, i am booking a trip next month for sept at the akl, and will be staying in standard room and have a few questions and thought this is the place to ask so here goes, can guest at akl use other resorts facilties such as swimmimng pools at other locations on property?, is there bus transportation to downtown disney shopping area from ak?, are refrigerators in the rooms or do they need to be requested?does anyone know if the rainforest cafe is included in the disney dining package as place to eat?and 1 last silly question,if you want to play basketball on 1 of the courts do they have a basketball for you to use and if so is a deposit required? ty for any info that can be provided

No you cannot. You can only use the pool facilites at the resort you are staying at. At some resorts they will ask to see your room key (aka key to the world card) to verify you are staying there before they let you into the pool area.

There is direct bus transportation from AKL to DTD. However, there is not direct transporation to DTD from any of the theme parks.

Yes they are in all rooms. No requests needed

It is not on the dining plan

I don't know which baksetball courts (possibly at WWOS) you are talking about so maybe someone else can help you out here.

I don't belive that AKL has a basketball court or at least none that I have ever seen. Also, I don't belive unless you go to the Platinum Plan or Premium Plan that the Rain Forrest Cafe is covered for dining. I know it isn't on the regular on where you get one TS per night since I tried and was told it is not covered or at least two months ago it wasn't.

Good point it must not be coverd any more as I was looking at a thing from last year.

You know that was my biggest disapointment with this package is not being able to eat there unless I pay out of pocket and I hate to do that LOL! So no Volcannnnnnnnnoooooooooooo for us this year :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

i did check out disneys web site and the rainforest was not on the list of particapating restaraunts in the dining plan, the basketball courts i am refering to are not located at akl but at contempary, fort wilderness and another location i cant think of at the moment, my son has heart set on playing and was just seeing if anybody had made use of the courts so he could know what he needs to do to aquire a basketball there to use or pack one, either way we all cant wait to go

:wave2: Hi all,

This is a great and informative threadI have stayed at CS, GF, YC, BW, and ASMu. I would love to try AKL or WL. Believe it or not, my best transportation experience was at ASMu! At ASMu the busses were numerous and fast. Too much sharing bus sharing at the deluxes (5 stops at YC and BW! - ridiculous for the price you pay to stay at these resorts) And at GF, the monorail was down a lot and bus waits were long!
So, what I'm thinking is that the AKL could have an advantage in that they don't share busses with other resorts. Is that true? Could this be a hidden advantage to staying at AKL, or are the waits long because of the remote location? Any experiences to share?

I also need the bunk bed rooms because of the age and sex difference of our kids, but we're only a family of 4. This is a must for us. I don't understand why disney cannot guarantee any room requests. Just about all other hotels can. Any experiences with this, and how I could be sure we'll get the bunks?

Finally, does anyone think that it will be more crowded at AK lodge and possibly service will suffer this year because of Exp Everest grand opening? :confused3

Thanks to all if you could weigh in. :sunny:

We have never waited longer than 10 or 15 minutes to catch a bus to ANY destination...to some people, that may be a long time - I guess it's how you look at it. I do like the fact that, indeed, AKL does NOT share a bus with any other resort!

I would call an explain that you have two children who are not the same sex and that you would prefer to have a bunk bed. I'm sure that they can arrange for you to stay in a room with a bunk...

I don't think it will be any more crowded than during, say the opening of Mission: Space, HTofT, or any other grand openings....

I think it is true. I like the bus service at AKL precisely because it doesn't share with any other hotel, and I don't think the waits are any longer there than anywhere else. The bus stops for AKL at the parks tend to be right up front, too, which is lovely at the end of a tiring park day.
