hi SeaSpray,
I don't know if this helps but I was told that we are "guaranteed" a Deluxe Bunk w/savannah view room in August. This room has a Queen, bunk beds AND a daybed. I've asked a couple of CMs when I've called and they have all confirmed this. Perhaps they have a Deluxe w/2 queens and a daybed. Hope it works out for you.

DH and I are staying at the AKL in May, just the two of us :goodvibes However, now I'm trying to decide on which resort to stay at following our Disney cruise, in August. Our DSs will be 18 and 15 at that time, so we need 3 beds. When we stay at the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian it works out well because ALL of their rooms have 3 beds. Last summer we stayed at the WL in a regular concierge room, with a queen bed and bunk beds, and the bunk beds were a tad small in height for the boys, although once they were in bed and laying down, they were fine. lol

So my question is: Is there such a thing as a concierge savannah-view DELUXE room, with 3 beds, that can be booked as a guarantee?? Actually, our order of preference would be: deluxe room so we'd have the third bed, then concierge, then view last (although I don't want a "bad" view).

If so, then I think this would be my first choice of resort for that trip, but from what I've read, you can't BOOK a deluxe concierge room. This doesn't make sense. :confused3

Can anyone give me info on this? Thanks! :)

P.S. I also thought it was odd that when we stayed at the WL concierge, we could've ended up with ANY kind of view. I like being able to book EXACTLY what I want, which is why the Polynesian, lagoon view, concierge rooms will ALWAYS be my favorite, because you also know exactly what building you'll be in :sunny:

(Well....that's my favorite so far... we still have many resorts to try out, but the Polynesian LVC will be almost impossible to beat, in my opinion ;) )

I am so excited! My parents just surprised me with a change in our ressies to stay at AKL. To make a long story short last year DBF and I stayed at AKL and fell in love with it. So we were making plans to go back to WDW this year but could not get as good of a rate at AKL and decided to stay CSR with AAA discount. I will just so happen to be celebrating my bday while there and invited my parents to tag along. Then we got word that my DBF will be deployed and will not be able to go with us so I decided to still go with my parents instead of spending my bday at home alone. So my parents new how badly I wanted to stay AKL and went and changed the ressies without letting me know and surprised me with it tonight! (Our original reservation was linked so she cancelled both ressies for CSR). I am sooooo excited although slightly sad DBF won't be able to join. I was just so excited and needed to spread my joy.

So after my long ramble I do have a question. Do they still have The Butternut Squash Soup at either Mara or Boma? I loved eating that last Aug. and hope I can have my parents try it out.

we will be staying at the akl in sept., my question is what actually is conceirge? is it additional services or just a different type of room? tx for any info

Thank you :) I'm going to call tomorrow to see what exactly I can book. I am hoping to be able to book a deluxe concierge room, so we have concierge services, and 3 beds in the room.

luvfigment,

Had the Butternut Squash soup at Boma and Mara in December. We ate at Boma on a Friday and Saturday night. Not sure which night the soup was served. It is one of my favorites.

Sorry to hear that your DBF is being deployed. My son was home a few weeks ago on a two-week leave from Iraq.

Were you able to get your ressies straightened out for the room you wanted??!?!

I thought all concierge rooms were deluxe, meaning they all have the daybed! I hope someone knows for sure, as I'm counting on it to be true!

First, Happy Birthday! :bday: And now yes the soup is still at Mara, at least it was in January. Oh my, it is soo good, isn't it?

I will say a prayer for your BF. It is such a selfless act to serve our country, and the men and women who stand up to keep us safe and free are an inspiration. God bless you and your family for your service to our country.

Kathy, I am sorry that your son was only home for two weeks. How long is his deployment? My nephew is leaving soon for his 3rd tour, and will be there at least eight months. I do not know how his mother maintains her composure. May God bless your son, and along with your family. :grouphug:

John's Mom - I hope you enjoyed your time with your son he is in my prayers along with everyone else serving in the military especially in support of OIF and OEF.

Kimmar067 - Thank you to you also and I will have to try that Carrot Soup! All I could do when I got home last year was talk about that soup. I even tried to make it from the recipe on AllEarsnet and it came out soooo bad. I was really upset and DBF just laughed..and then consoled me.

Nancyg56 - Thank you for your prayers and kind words. DBF and I are very proud of our service and enjoy what we do. And YES that soup is the best!

So thank you to all for your responses and now I can dream about Butternut Squash Soup and of course Zebra Domes!

To all the dis boarders, it is so nice to see you all appreciate the service those who are in the military give to our country. I am a bit biased since I am luvfigments mom. I am so proud of her. I am sorry her BF will not be joining us but I am so happy we are still going and STAYING AT AKL!! Plus I am thankfull she is not being deployed also.

I am sure this has been covered before but can anyone give me some information on the culinary tour. Is it free? when is it offered on Saturdays? TIA

LOL that soup is going to be the first thing luvfigment is going to have me try. :Pinkbounc

I feel like we are going to be eating our way through Disney in June.

The tour is offered every day, I believe. The information is on the information board in the lobby. I went at 3:45 PM on a Saturday, and it was free. The tour begins in Jiko with a CM discussing the menu options as well as the cooking methods. There were samples to trry. Then to Boma, where two chefs took time to discuss the offerings on the buffet, and offer samples of the delicious soup. It was a nice tour, and I enjoyed it very much. I was the only one to attend and I was think that the tour was the same as if 25 people attended. Have a wonderful time!

Thanks for the prayers and support. My son left Germany for Iraq in October. He will be in Iraq for one year (even though his tour of duty with the Army is up this June). Before returning home, he must be in Germany for three months.

I must admit that the Animal Kingdom Lodge is my favorite resort and I love Boma and Jiko. But.......I don't like Zebra Domes. Please don't hate me. It's the coffee flavoring. I love coffee, but won't eat anything flavored with coffee.

Now, I'll take a seat at the Uzima Spring Bar and have a few "Nahtazus" any day. Of course, Victoria Falls Mists are almost as good.

Kathy

DW doesn't like Zebra Domes either! When we took the culinary tour though, I made sure she received a sample...and of course pass it on to me! Love the zebra domes!! BTW, you can purchase zebra domes at The Mara, also.

That does sound like a fun time. Plus, if we go the first day we get there we will have had a preview of the foods offered.
