Denise, thanks for the review, great to hear that you had such a good time!

Can you explain why the one spa was so much better? When we stayed there, I only ever was in this spa as it was on "our" side of the pool, what's wrong with the other one?[/QUOTE

I don't think there was really anything wrong with the other one, I just had one I preferred. [They are probably the same, and I just perceived the diferences!] I think the one on the side near the slide (nearer the fitness center) was more crowded, for one thing. Probably because it is more visible from the path.:confused3 Also, there were many more unsupervised kids here. That was only a minor nuisance, though. The jets just seemed to work better and be in better locations in the spa on the other side (I don't know which direction, but on the opposite side, near where they had the night vision goggles.) For instance, I particularlay liked the jets on my lower back. Mostly, however, I think it was the peacefulness of the spa near the night vision viewing. It was less crowded when we were there, so quieter and easier to relax in. Or at least it was to me!:upsidedow

I can confirm, see for yourself:

I think I read somewhere that Zawadi actually increased its food offerings considering that they are now a DVC resort, so there might even be a bigger selection now?

Yes, they had milk, bread, cereal and a few other items there. We didn't buy any so I didn't check the prices. HTH!

I think we are definitely prepared for a romantic evening with all the info that everyone has shared (and I won't forget the corkscrew!). And I was also hoping we could take some time and sit out on the balcony with a glass of wine. I will try to put forth the effort, I know getting back from the parks we're always wiped out and ready to just head to bed. Although this visit we are trying not to be so commando and enjoy our time at the resort.

Thanks again everyone!!!:thumbsup2

...there is another spot that rarely gets mentioned - when you go through the lobby towards Arusha Rock, there is an alcove at the far left of the lobby (just after the check-in area). There are two glass doors with another look-out porch, containing some rocking chairs; it's very peaceful there.....

Thanks for posting this pic, that definitely looks like a nice selection of wines! By any chance did they happen to have Mickey etched "wine" glasses? I see in the left side of the photo they have martini, shot, & small tubs. I would love to buy a couple Mickey wine glasses to take home.

Ohh, thanks again for another great peaceful spot. I will be sure to check this area out also.

Hate to be a spoil sport, but please, no glass at the whirlpool or pool. :thumbsup2 :scared:

No problem, I'm sure our plastic AKL cups that we planned to purchase when we arrive will hold 2 glasses of wine each.

Thanks again everyone for helping us make our 20th Anniversary as romantic as possible. And I am soooo excited about staying at the AKL!!

I just had to share. We just booked the sunrise safari for our stay. We cannot wait. I haven't forgotten about the pictures. I actually hooked up my external hard drive today. Now I just have to figure out how to post them. :)

I am glad my picture could be of use! I do not remember any etched wine glasses, but then I was not shopping for glasses anyway. I think I remember that they had wine glasses with a three-dimensional Mickey head at the top of the stem of the glass. I saw those last week in Disneyland Paris and they looked very familiar to me, so I think I saw them at WDW, too.

Have a great anniversary trip!

Hi to all AKL vet's:
I have just booked AKL for July(rookie stay).I have been reading and studying this thread for weeks. Thanks for all the insiders' tips to AKL, the decision was easier than I first anticipated. I got the pool view room because my son (15) wants to be closed to the action, lol. Can somebody tell me whether or not you need to pass the lobby area to get to the pools? Is there a better pool view room preference? any suggestions will be appreciated.

I am certainly no expert, but when we there there we just used the elevator that was on our trail (Zebra Trail) and took it straight to 1st floor then out the door and bam! at the pool. I'm sure it's different depending on where your room is. I'm sure an expert will be along soon to answer!

Sigh! I miss it already and have only been home 9 days:sad1:

Denise

PS--I have my photos on photobucket, now I need to figure out how to post them! Will do that tomorrow, hopefully. Well, it's that or clean the house and you just know what's gonna win out on that one!:rolleyes1

And we expect a full report when you return home! :rolleyes1 :teeth:

Well, maybe not a FULL report, but as many details as would be prudent to share. :rotfl: :rolleyes1

.....uhhhhhhh, yeah-h-h-h-h-h.....
smiley_bored.gif

I will definitely post a report upon our return(the G-rated version of course!:lmao: ). I have actually contemplated posting an actual pre-trip/trip report another month down the line(a 40 something couple visits the World & AKL?). I don't want to get started too soon though, it may get boring. But I will post specific info to this board in particular for all the wonderful help you have all given to me. Thanks again!:thumbsup2
