JAMBO! The UN-official AKL Thread ~ UPDATED(short film/pg 8 & slideshow/pg 12) Part 3

Should I be worried about construction for our December trip? Also, I know they stopped booking rooms for now for December, so should I assume that I won't get a discount code? I booked a Savannah View room and was banking on a discount. We'll probably still stay at ALK anyway, unless we can get a good discount on another deluxe (but there is not one I'd rather stay at). It's our last trip for a long time (DH wants to explore other vacation destinations, the horror!) and I've always dreamed of staying at AKL, so my heart is really set on it.

As far as construction goes, I don't know enough about the progress to answer - Hopefully it'll be done by Dec.

As for a discount code........... I would NEVER "bank" on one!!!! You never know IF or When Disney will release one........ then IF they do, you can't bank on being able to use it. It would have to apply to whatever you have booked, or plan to book. For example if the only discount that comes out for Dec. is a room only - and you have a package booked for example, then the code would be of no use to you. I would advise anyone to book what you want and have budgeted for....... then IF a discount code is released AND it applies to what your needs are........ then have it applied to your reservation. But, I wouldn't bank on one coming out when making my plans. Hopefully one will be released that will work for you and everyone else going in Dec.!!

Hope this helps!!!

Oh no it's not! One can NEVER do enough AKL happy dancing! ;) :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Jaycns, I'm going to count on you to give a "construction report" as soon as you return, ok? What kind of room do you have booked?

Here is a description I "borrowed" from Magical Moutain.net

"Starting on March 24th, 2007 Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge has opened its kid's program, Bush Camp to all guests. Bush Camp, a 3 hour experience for kids ages 6-14, will teach kids about African Culture through games, activities, food and crafts. The children will also get to explore animals on the savannah, and "play along" with a character from "The Lion King".

The cost for Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Bush Camp is $70 plus tax per child and hours are from 1:00pm to 4:00pm every Saturday. You must guarantee your reservation with a credit card. You must cancel more than 24 hours in advance for a refund. $20 of the cost is donated to the Wildlife Conservation Fund. DVC members receive a 10% discount.

The program can be booked by calling 407-WDW-PLAY."

Yes ma'am...construction report...will do.

We had a deluxe concierge room booked...but they tried to bump us (being as none of those remained). I seem to have said something like I would sleep on the roof, but I was staying at AKL:rolleyes1 and I guess my over the top obession with AKL scared :scared: them and they allowed me to stay in two standard concierge rooms instead. We are a party of five. ;)

We might not get back before you arrive. We will be at AKL from the 1-9 and then at the GF from the 9-15. But I do promise an update as soon as we get back! :3dglasses

Come on Kim, you mean to tell me you STILL haven't figured a way for your DH to "surprise" you with a trip for the BIG 50?????? WHAT'S UP WITH THAT? You'd better get busy working on him..subliminal messages perhaps??
:rotfl:

I just wanted to let you know that I called CRO tonight to inquire about staying in a 1 bedroom villa in June 2008.

I was told that it would be (based on 2007 pricing)

$480 per night for a standard view

$550 per night for Savana

I have been curious for a while and finally called. At he told me I needed a 2 bedroom for my family of five until I questioned him.

Sorry if this was posted before and I missed it.
