Well, I got my PAID IN FULL at AKL receipt in the mail yesterday! Woo Hoo! (Now don't let that fool ya, it's on my Disney Credit Card) 45 Days to go, and I'm really getting ready to pack now. Except I realized I need a big piece of luggage now since the airline changed the size of the carry on's. Used to be 21 inches, now it's 19, and of course, all my carry ons are too big to carry on, but too small to bother checking in! So, I need luggage now, can you stand it?

We will be staying at AKV next May in a 2 bedroom concierge. Can anyone tell me about the concierge lounge? We have stayed at the Sugar Loaf at GF.

Is savanahah view worth the upgrade to avoid "parking lot view" ?

I agree with Kimmar. If savannah rates aren't in your budget, pool view is a very nice alternative. Nice thing about pool view is you're guaranteed not to be a monstrous hike from the lobby/restaurants, and the pool area is a very nice view.

If the savannah view rates aren't out of your budget, then that would be my first choice though.

Nothing wrong with parking lot view if that's your budget though. Plenty of places to sit and watch the savannah.

Thanks guys, i don't mind spending the extra money for either pool view or Savanah but when I tried to change with my pin code, they said there was no availability

Newjmom - we stayed at AKL in May and had reserved a standard room, standard view. We were 1st given a room on Giraffe Trail directly above the carpark area where all of the guest cars, taxis and ME buses pull up throughout the day/night. It was literally, one floor above this area. We asked to be moved due to the noise and fumes and were moved without hestitation. The standard view rooms on Giraffe Trail are all above the carpark area or the area where the park buses pull up so you will have to contend with lots of noise if you get a room on that trail.

I would suggest that if you keep your standard room w/standard view, you request Ostrich Trail which only has rooms above the parking lot. You're not guaranteed a room on that trail, but it's worth the request. Like a pp said, you may want to upgrade to pool view, but remember that the pool area is open 24 hours.

Question: What is the "construction forcast" for winter/spring? I'm considering AKL for the first time, but not too sure what with all the contruction issues I've been readining about.

I feel your pain! I have LESS then one month to go...I don't know if I will be able to sleep until the trip...HAHAHA.

But my luggage problems were solved a few months ago with a really cool set of Disney luggage. They may still have some available on line. HINT HINT

Hi all,

If I get to pull this trip off in Sept/Oct (booked - DH has yet to agree though) to the AKL I've stated we could actually "relax" this trip and have lots of lodge and pool time. Now I'm starting to freak as I'm worried about the construction noise outside if we are indeed spending most days lounging at the most awesome pool.....anyone there lately and how noisy was it.
