Nuttin' wrong with planning ANOTHER AKL vaca.... :teeth: !

Hi all--I saw this in the AllEars newsletter:
The Orlando Sentinel and other Orlando news outlets are reporting that the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) has filed paperwork seeking state permission to clear and excavate 31 acres located at the interchange of the new State Road 429 expressway and Disney's Western Way entrance road. This step seemingly confirms rumors that the area will be the site of a future Disney hotel, shopping and dining district known as the "Western Beltway Development."

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/busi...958.story?coll=orl-business-headlines-tourism

I'm pretty sure that's over by (just north) of AKL. (Google maps isn't new enough to have Western Way completed, but I kind of remember driving by it.) It sounds like this is above and beyond the AKL DVC work. Sounds like AKL may not feel so secluded after all... I have no idea about the new hotel mention. Anyone here heard anything?

...personally, I'D be 'kicking and screaming' on the floor......

What are you saying kimmar? I should have behaved more like this?

They had to pull me away. I didn't want to leave my animals. :teeth:

Jambo!

We arrived back late last night, everything was great, AKL is a beautiful and peaceful retreat from the parks, bus service was wonderful. The longest wait we had was 15 minutes for MK the night of a MVMCP. We were in 5435 on the Zebra trail and the room was beautiful and well kept, towel animals and little birthday surprises. The Concierge lounge had the same nice foods I remember from our last stay there 3 years ago. Everything was perfect and we had a super time.

Met SuperDuperBounce and his family, and ran into Dreamer on the bus to MK one morning :)

I'll post a TR and some photos over the next few days. Saw an eland with a box stuck on his horns :rotfl: like a grey plastic feed box, it was trying to shake it off and it was funny to watch, he eventually flung it like 20 feet in the air and all the zebras were watching him. :p

Welcome back Cass! So glad you all had an excellent time, I can't wait for pictures and a trip report!! The eland with the box is hilarious--you got pictures of that right??? :rotfl2:

Random question...

Back in October, we did the "Magic Your Way with Dining" plan, along with this came Planet Holywood vouchers and a few other things that we didn't really take advantage of; however, if I recall correctly, it came with one free print from the Photo Pass thing. We purposely had our picture taken and these, and even looked at them online, etc, but I cannot find any documentation on how to claim our free one.

So the question is, did I dream up this freebie, or how in the world do you claim it???

Well if you dreamed it up then you and I must be sharing the same dream because I was wondering the same thing. I've been looking through my papers and I can't find anything telling me how to claim my free print.

I meant to ask earlier if any of you tried Donald's Breakfastsaurus at AK while you were staying at AKL. I have ADRs for our 1st morning at AKL for my DS.
Just looking for any feedback on the character breakfast and how long did it take to get from AKL to the restaurant.

BTW - all these pictures are making the days move even slower for me and my upcoming visit to AKL. :goodvibes

I remember we did a package with this in 2005... i don't think we ever claimed the free picture, but there definitely was a little coupon (about a sixth of the size of a sheet of paper) that had the information on it...

I can't remember who I was talking to here about the room drapes and sheers, their sheers were plain fabric, but our room was animal print.

Cass--I have a theory... deluxe rooms have animal print sheers and the other rooms have plain ones? or maybe concierge rooms...?

Okay, AKL experts. As it happens, almost all of the members of our grand gathering will be at my house for a New Year's Eve sleep over party. We usually have Hors'dinner followed by game night. About 11:30 we switch on the TV to see the ball fall then watch a movie before winding down. In the morning we make a big breakfast.

Since we are all excited for our upcoming (July) trip to AKL, I had a thought to theme the NYE party. I am here for dining and decorating suggestions.

Thanks!

We were really disappointed last month when we were there that AKL was not yet decorated for Christmas. AKL and Poly were the only 2 that weren't. We were told it would happen while we were there but it didn't happen. :sad2:

So you are thinking of african foods? dishes that you would find at akl?

O.K.-here's a mini report!

We arrived after a 2 1/2 hour drive where Ds slept most of the way so we never even took a bathroom break! When we arrived, we went into the lobby and it felt so good to be there. I sent DS5 to the tv while I walked to the desk. Just then, a space opened and because I was between my prescription sunglasses and regular ones, I didn't see that it was the lobby concierge. But Wade waved me over just the same.

What a nice man. We got our room, it was ready and it was exactly what I had requested for our party. Zebra trail, lower floor near the elevators. The rest of the people were arriving the next day and Wade confirmed thta they would all be next to us and we'd be connecting with my parents. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

He helped me verify all the grand gathering info and ADR's. Best of all, I was in time for the culinary tour!

SO we get to our room and....it had bunkbeds! DS5 was in heaven! He didn't know whether to look out the windows or climb on top. Now, I hadn't asked for bunks but i had thouht it would be special for a b-day trip. After 2 minutes, I made a new rule-nap on the top bunk, sleep on the bottom bunk!

SO after lunch at Mara, where would you believe I forgot to look for zebra domes, we did the culinary tour. Deelish!

We decided to do room service dinner and relax and I had to fight for my rifht to my half of the larger zebra dome.

We then went to storytelling, games and strolling after dark.

We ended the day by sitting in the balcony listening to the quiet and watching the shadows.

Just thinking about it makes me want ot make a new ressie!
