Hi everyone! I am back from my stay at Akl! I was on the 5th floor with room number 5311. A great view for the savanahs and i loved the resort! Besides doing the usual park visits i also used the night vision goggles and viewed animals from my room, the overlooks, and such. I also went ont the Sunrise safari. This safari is usually offered to consergie guests but i was able to book it and it was great! Inadditional, i watched the Cultural safari activity at the lodge.

Avril ,one of the animal giudes from South Africa ,talked about where she lives and the many activities like camping groups are done. I talked with her
for about a half hour before the session was to begin. It was great talking with her.

...were you staying concierge?? I talked to her also - she is very nice.... :sunny:

All this room request talk is getting me thinking. :scratchin
So when and how (email or phone) do you guys usually do the room request?

Hi everyone...forgive me is this has been asked and answered...we leave in 35 days and just decided to change from Boardwalk to AKL to get a savannah view room. We plan to spend a full day staying at the resort, DD is an animal NUT! ;) Is there a certain area that you recommend we request?

Thanks for your help!

...I'm not sure if that has anything to do with a dining plan.....I'd sure be interested to know, though....

Doesn't the Platinum Plan allow for some tours (Bob - a.k.a. AKLGOOFY was on the Platinum Plan and I think he posted that most of the tours they did were included).

I posted this over at the community board but also had to come over here and tell all my friends over here at the AKL thread and especially to Johns Mom:

Well its official. DH is coming home from Iraq and will be home either at the end of this week or sometime next week. He originally wasnt coming home until the 1st week of October, but his replacements got there early, so which means he gets to come home early! Im really glad about this not only because he'll finally coming home after a 4 month deployment but now I can know how much he's getting back from his deployment FINALLY and as soon as I find out then I can factor in and figure out how much exactly we need to save for our Disney trip for our 3rd anniversary in August!

Just an added part for the AKL thread: Cant wait till August and get to be home at the AKL.

Teresa,

I'm so glad to hear your good news about your husband's return from Iraq. My son is finally in Germany. He left Iraq on Sept. 8 and finally got to Germany on Sept. 11. Now we are just waiting to get the final date of his enlistment (which should have been this past June). Have fun planning your August trip to the AKL.

I will!
I will!
I promise!
I will!
But when is best to request this and by what mode is it best communicated?
ASAP? One month out? Email? Phone?

...I would phone it in ASAP....then, about 3 days out, call in the confirm your ressies and your request....remember, they are only requests, and are not guaranteed, but the CM's at AKL will really make an effort to meet all requests, especially, if AKL is not full-capacity....

Wallyb,

I forgot; are you staying concierge? If you are, just let Don and Juanita know that you prefer to stay on the Zebra Trail, Arusha Savannah.

Yes, mam - we are indeed concierge guests.
I shall indeed let Mr. Don (as in Donald Duck) know our desire. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the advice as always!

Anyone know where the King bed savannah view rooms are (or has stayed one?)
I thought the experts here might know! :)

Hi Kimmar!
I dont think it was concierge because i did not have access to the concierge
floor. I found this out when i tried to get up to the 6th fl to register for the
sunrise safari. The elevator would not let me up. I had the invitation to but
no access. I had to go up with someone from the concierge desk to get to the lounge.

I already want to go back
