Here are pictures of our savannah view room at AKL (#4224)

I finally made my packing list yesterday :teeth: With ony 23 days to go I thought I better get started  I also ordered a new bathing suit yesterday, it even goes with the AKL theme. I will blend in :rotfl:

I can't believe in a little over 3 weeks I will be back at my Happy Place

Oh Janet, I've been making lists & packing things for months already  but now that I'm 3 weeks out I can officially admit it!

Glad someone else on this board is going the same time as me (almost) so I have someone to share the EXCITEMENT with!!! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :yay: :dance3:

We have never been to the AKL, and will be there the week of Thanksgiving. Do you have to request turn down service everyday, or can you just ask them at checkin. My children love to see the beds when they are turned down and there stuffed animals are set up. Also do I need to ask for towel animals...i don't want them everyday, but would love the kids to get them once while staying here. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Once you are in your room, call mousekeeping and request turndown service for your entire stay. If the children's stuffed animals are left out on the bed, the mousekeeper will probably rearrange them. It usually depends on your mousekeeper whether or not you receive towel animals.

Is the light parade that you mention Spectromagic, or is that a different parade on land-just all lit up? And it's on the lagoon/lake right in the Magic Kingdom?

It all sounds soooooo beautiful! :yay:

The Electrical Water Parade seems to travel by all the hotels located on the lagoon. If you Google it, the top link is from the All Ears site and gives a description, pictures and reviews. I'd post the link but I'm not sure if it is allowed. We will be seeing it as part of the Magical Fireworks Cruise for parties of 8 or more, which also features a view of Wishes from the water. It sounds like fun.

Just wanted to let you all know that we just got back from our 1st trip to AKL. We were there from 8/28 to 9/4. A wonderful resort. My DS's ages 9 & 7 loved seeing all the animals. We ended up getting a free upgrade in the savannah area. We were on the Kuda Trail. We were in room 2341 and it was the best of both worlds because we had our balconey for one side and then just outside our door was the other viewing area. I always made sure I was up and out for feeding time.

I did try the Zebra Domes and sorry to say it was just okay.

Would definately go to AKL again. :goodvibes

I will keep that in mind!

Does it run every night? And if I recall correctly from your TR Kimmar, at 10:00 pm?

...it runs about 9:30PM, depending upon which resort you happen to be - I believe that it starts at WL at 9:15....

Thanks, Elisabeth, for sharing those great AKL pix with us..... :thumbsup2 !!

Just dropping by to say Hi, I can not wait until our holiday trip!

Everything seems to be coming together. I got the premium Wishes fireworks cruise. My family has no idea how much fun we are going to have. I plan on ordering something from either the Poly or GF for the boat. I am thinking a nice dessert item. Any suggestions??

We are under 90 days now. :jumping2: :rainbow: :jumping3:

I need to think about clothes for the trip and figure out what I am going to have waiting in each room as a welcome gift.

Has anyone heard from Scoutsmom or Wendy? I hope they are having a wonderful, restful, fun, exciting, love filled trip. :)

Hey, Johnsmom Not too much longer before your son comes home. :sunny: What is the date? I have had him and you and your family in my prayers. Our DD and DSIL are arriving in less than two weeks. I am going to take some time off work so we can play and enjoy being together. We have some plans, but not too many. Mostly want to visit, play cards and get in the spa.

Matt&Jakesmom - Thank you for letting us know how your stay at AKL went. I am so happy that you got upgraded. Isn't the savannah beautiful. Did you get to see the baby Zebra? What all did you do during your trip? What parks, where did you eat? I am sorry you didn't care for the Zebra Domes. I am sure you found several other items that were great. Give us a little more information on your trip. Did you take any pictures.

Shyjade - I can feel your excitement. :cheer2: :dance3: :bounce: :Pinkbounc I really am looking forward to your reaction to the wonders of AKL.

Everyone have a great afternoon. paw: paw: paw:

Angel,

My son is supposed to leave Iraq today. He will be in Kuwait for 48 hours and then off to Germany. He should be on his way home from Germany Nov. 15. I haven't heard from him for several days, so I'm hoping everything goes as planned.

I hope you enjoy your time with your daughter and her husband. Post some pics.

Kathy

Hi! We are planning a stay at AKL from Sept 22-29. Our party consists of three: myself, my Mom, and my 4-year old niece. My Mom is worried about how dark the room looks. Is it feasible to bring along a high wattage light bulb for a lamp or two or is that just a ridiculous idea?

Donna

Hi AKL experts! I couldn't get the search function to work, so I hoped you all could answer my questions. We are leaving for our first trip to AKL in just 1 month! :)
1) We have booked Savannah view (non-smoking). If I request a King bed room, where are these rooms?
2) I read that the zebras are only on the Arusha savannah. How do I request a room on this savannah? Can I request the savannah, or do I have to request a "trail"?
3) Where are the people pens? Are they on all the savannahs/trails? Is there a way to avoid them?
4) Have people had any luck requesting a room on a higher floor or farther out on the ends of the "trails"? If you look at the AKL map on allears, which savannah is which?

Our plane arrives at 9:30AM, so I am hoping that we might actually have a shot at getting our requests. I've never made requests before beyond "non-smoking". Is it true all the smoking rooms are pool view?

TIA! :)

ead79 - Thanks for posting the pics of your conceirge room. I asked to see some a while back and they are greatly appreciated. Those rooms look totally different than the regular room we stayed in. :thumbsup2

Julylady - I dont think the rooms are dim/dark and I had no trouble putting on make up and what not. Just open the blinds and let the Florida sunshine inn. I think you will be fine.

TiggerAllie - Just ask for Arusha savannah zebra trail. The lower rooms are acutually better because you are closer to the animals. I think the 5th floor are deluxe rooms only. Unless you have that booked you wont get it. We were on the second floor and literally face to face with the giraffe. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. :) I just don't want to be on the first floor, which is why I was thinking of requesting a higher floor. I am a little nervous about getting a room with a "people pen" view-- I don't know if requesting a King bed will hurt or help!
