Ugh...5 more weeks (from today) until I arrive there - now it feels like an eternity after seeing your incredible pictures!! But it will be worth the wait, I know.


Okay, here's a "dumb" question (if there was such a thing as "dumb questions"): what exactly is the "people pen" everyone talks about with disgust?

In case of a fire or emergency and the AKL must be evacuated, there are fenced-in areas in the savannahs. These pens are for people for their safety and also the safety of the animals. I hope this explains it.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Frunch is NO LONGER AVAILABLE...however, they DO offer 'jungle juice' in its place....it's guava, papaya, and orange juice mixed together....

ALSO:

The old stand-bys at the pool bar are not available either....it seems that there are a few drinks that are available from ALL the resorts (like pina coladas [but I forgot what THEY call 'em], pool lemonade, etc. and they come in a souvenir plastic glass with a blue stem)....you CAN get a Victoria Falls Mist, but you MUST specifically ask for it by name....

When I was at the Pool Bar in Dec. 2005, I asked for a "Nahtazu." The bartender got out a recipe book and made it for me. If you don't see a drink listed on the bar menu, just request it.

All the menus at the pool bars are redone...they all have the same drinks listed, no matter which resort you are staying. The specialty drinks can still be made, but you must specifically request them by name...I happen to love the Victoria Falls Mist, which contains banana liquer and Midori, so I asked for THAT one. You can't imagine how disappointed I was when I arrived at the pool bar and didn't see the Natazu and my fave listed anywhere......

...thanks....it won't be long till you and your boys will be enjoying yourselves at AKL.....my favorite part was when we drove up to the sentry and the guard said "Welcome home!"; I felt like I truly was.....

Kimmar~ Gorgrous pictures. I can smell the AKL just looking at them....only 9 more days to go!! I felt like I was at home seeing them. Bummer about the pool drinks. We were planning on pool side lounging most afternoons with Victoria Falls Mists and what not.
