Hey all,

It feels like ages since I have read the thread!! I have been very busy at work (I'm training in 2 new people). Thankfully I have my "weekend" tomorrow and Thursday. I'm going to read the thread from where I left off tonight after dinnner.

Kimmar I just noticed that you are back and through my skimming saw your post about Frunch juice I can't wait to read your TR.
Wendy I can't believe we are almost single digit dancing!!!

...well, I promised that, when I got back, I would post some more AKL pix....

Okay, folks, stay in line, no talking, you may ask questions at the END of the tour....let's continue through the wonderful AKL lobby....that exotic smell; can you smell it?? The smell of oak wood burning, with a hint of cinnamon, garlic, and marjoram....

...and where is that delicious aroma emanating from, you think to yourself? Why, let's just move over to the left, just behind my DS, and have a look-see down below:

....why, yes, that is Victoria Falls Lounge in the left foreground, with Boma further below....

I must make a 'pit stop' in the ladies rooms....hope that you don't mind...this will give you just a moment to enjoy some of the African art...

...continuing further, we descend the flight of stairs that will lead us directly out to Arusha Rock, but first, let us sidetrack THIS way, to one of the viewing verandas.....

...okay, hurry along, let us take a quick tour outside....the first thing we encounter is the fire pit, where wonderful tales of Africa and its vast wilderness is woven into rich stories of tradition and folklore...

....looking to the left, we see a sign which gives us an indication of some of the four-legged friends that we may encounter....

...soon we are enveloped in the African darkness, as we turn to face the glowing warmth of the kraal, which we lovingly call 'home'....

Thanks so much for sharing the photos. It makes the rest of us more excited about our upcoming trips (even me, whose trip isn't for a long, long time).

One question -- is the photo of the giraffes from Arusha Savannah? My daughter is hoping to have a view of giraffes from our room.

...you're welcome.....I was hoping that it would really give everyone a true feel of what they can expect when they arrive at AKL...

...yes, it is. There are 3 giraffes there, along with 4 zebras....there is also a baby giraffe [and its family] at the Uzima savannah, just beyond the hot tub to the left of the flamingo pool...

Ugh...5 more weeks (from today) until I arrive there - now it feels like an eternity after seeing your incredible pictures!! But it will be worth the wait, I know.


Okay, here's a "dumb" question (if there was such a thing as "dumb questions"): what exactly is the "people pen" everyone talks about with disgust?

...well, after all that exploration of hearth and home, I say it's definitely time for a bit of 'chow'.....when you exit the elevators on the first floor, you have your choice - Jiko, to the right,

or Boma, to the left:

...okay, since we don't want to use TWO table-service vouchers today, let's eat at Boma....

....we'll wait until our 'beeper thingie' goes off, so that we can be seated....B-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z, oh there it goes now....

...and, at the end of a meal fit for a king, our chef, Federico, joins us to make sure everything was 'up-to-par'...

...well, now that we are thoroughly STUFFED, I think it's time to take a brisk walk around the pool to work off some of that delicious food....

...then, perhaps, view some more art...

...and, mebbe, sit by the fire pit....

Kimmar: Wonderful pictures. We will be there on Monday for a "magical" 8 days. We have never stayed at AKL before let alone a deluxe resort. This will be a real treat for us.

...congrats! You are absolutely going to LOVE staying at AKL....make sure to check out the sign that is next to the pool bar (between the bar and the pool)...it contains lots of great info: the weather, the pool/slide/lifeguard hours, the hours of operation for all the parks....don't know why I never noticed it before.... ...BTW ~ the bus service was EXCELLENT!
