Hey everyone. I'm staying at AKL for the first time in November/December. Reading all these stories and looking at the pictures is making even more excited. I wish it was November sooner!:santa:

Oh December at Wdw is beautiful. All the resorts and parks are decorated.:)
I did not get to visit the AKL in December but others did and the photos are
wonderful. A real magical time! Enjoy your gathering!:wizard:

I posted this on disABILITIES also, but thought perhaps someone here might have some info also.

My parents are staying at AKL for our trip in May. My dad has back and hip problems which make walking long distances difficult. They have a standard room booked and have requested a room close to the lobby. Is there anyone who is familiar with AKL and can reccommend a room location that would minimize walking? I know he will want to go to the quick service food area - is that a long walk from the lobby?

...if you are booked in a std room, although BOTH 'sides' [Ostrich and Giraffe Trails] are relatively short compared to the other ones, you might want to request Giraffe Trail, since that is the side which has closer access to the pool and restaurant areas.....also, request 3rd floor (which is 'lobby floor') !

Thank you very much! I picked the lodge because i'm taking my younger brother with me. The last time he was in WDW he was really young and he doesn't remember much of it. I figured the lodge would be a great place to re-introduce him to Disney.

Hey Guys, ate at Jiko last night and spent some time looking up inside the lobby. Anyone know where they relocated the concierge to? It looked awfully empty up there. Also, we took a right out of the valet just to see what was up with the construction. They now have it all blocked off with net fencing so we couldn't see very much. Lots of cars back there (not sure if they're working at night or what) and some dirt piles. So far, it doesn't look like Lodge guests are very inconvenienced by the DVC construction.

Uh, oh - where's the CL??? Now I'm worried! :scared1: Sounds like it's time to get on the phone to Don & Juanita for an update. Whoever gets an answer first, please post, OK?! :flower3:

I have heard that CL is still up there. Is this not correct?
Also, I think construction is supposed to last for nearly two years but that this is b/c they are working only during daylight hours so as not to disturb guests and animals too much.

If it's any help at all, I called AKL directly yesterday because I needed to make a decision on where to stay, and I was told that guests will see and hear construction, but that they will try to have the bulk of the noise between 9 am and 6 pm. If you have a savannah view, you will see a partition where the construction begins.
Hope that helps!!!

I hope the construction doesn't deter from the beauty of the savannah view rooms. We'll be back for another visit in June.

Well now -- that's not what any of us wanted to hear! :lmao:

So did you decide for or against it?

Trust me, it sure isn't what I wanted to hear either! :sad2: My family and my sister and family all had made up our minds that we were going to AKL and that was that! We LOVED it so much. But having heard the news on the construction "straight from the horses mouth" if you will.....we decided to go back to WL this time. If you get to go quite often, maybe it wouldn't matter quite as much, but our vacations are so infrequent these days that we just didn't want to take a chance on this. Sorry for the news, but I thought it might help somebody else make up their minds.:sad2:
