JAMBO Everybody...An August 2011 TR (Completed May 13)

Queen, love your trip report. I started reading it because we will be staying at AKV-Jambo in May for the first time. You are such a fun writer and have such a wonderful, beautiful family. Because of you I booked Boma for breakfast and am looking forward to it. Can't wait to read your updates, thanks for letting me be a part of your vacation.

I think it's a typical mom thing, we tend to always have too much on our plates don't we!
I'm soooo very glad you understand! ;-)

I believe with all my heart that the Eating Machines could polish off the kitchen sink no problem at all!
In a heartbeat I'd imagine!

I sure hope you can squeeze in a visit with us....if you don't have park passes you could always meet us at the hotel or DTD...we'll figure something out for sure
Keeping up with trip reports is hard. Seeing you in person? Girl, I'd move Heaven and Earth to make sure that happens!!!!

Hope your review went well which I'm sure it did....cause you're awesome
It did, and thanks. At least I know I'm sufficient. :cool1:

THE MEANING OF LIFE
It's all about embarrassing your children. Any time. All the time. If you don't get a good "Mom!" or "Daaaad!!!" or at least a roll eyes then you're not doing it right.
That and chocolate.
   A-freakin'-men, sistah!!!!!!!!

:worship:-- excellent delivery!!!!!! Anywhere near Aulani?

Please politely yet firmly inform Jeff that he is in violation of code 238 "No continuous screaming like a little girl." and any further offences may result in the forfeiture of his man card.
Gotta say I disagree with you on this one. He's not old enough to actually have a man card yet. Oh, i know he and Jas think they're "all growed up", just like I did at that age. Of course now I know better. So I don't think he's old enough to have one. And at the rate he's going, doesn't sound like he's gonna get one either. :rotfl:

Took a photo of her sister,
Now she's gone and we sure miss her
Girl, you are a pure-t hoot!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Ooooo... Jurassic Park! Sounds like such a fun ride, definitely would like to try it out. Glad that you went on even with Jasmine's apprehension, 9 years makes a difference :) Wow, this is like the water ride chapter! Dudley Do-Right's looks really fun too, but good thing you didn't go on, looks like it is worse than Jurassic O_o Well, love the photos, they all looked like they were having a great time :) LOL @ Jeff's scream being your sign to take a picture. :lmao:
It was fun! They did love the ride and couldn't stop laughing at how soaked they were! I could hear Jeff all the way.....:rotfl2:
Those little signs in Toon Lagoon are so funny! Oh, how much use I'd get out of my camera if I was there *sigh* LOL @ your little ride on Doctor Doom's Free Fall. Poor Jeff, always so blindsided, but I guess if you remember his screaming so well, it is only for the better you keep him in the dark haha :thumbsup2 to your ride on The Hulk... too bad you weren't able to get videos of this
The theming there is really terrific! Yeah....I don't think he'll ever believe a word I say now!
Those robes and the wands look so authentic and cool! I've had a whole array of that type of stuff and nothing has come close. :thumbsup2 to getting your "niece", the Elder Wand (Dumbledore's wand), pretty cool looking wand right there ::yes:: And another thumbs up to Jasmine buying her little minion, next to Thumper from Bambi, those are my favorite little sidekicks. "Whaaaaaattt??!!!" hehe
They were really neat and great quality! Would have made an amazing Halloween costume! That little guy sits on her bed everyday...she just loves him! His name is Stuart btw:lmao:
Mmmm... the food at Bubba Gump's looks delicious (though not as good as heavenly Disney food of course ;) ) ! You definitely picked a good place to escape the rain. :thumbsup2 to Jeff rocking some nice shades and MM getting her little minion too. You guys know what to shop for (:
It was so good! Apparently they are not Ray Bans as I quoted...they are in fact Oakley's....Jasmine couldn't wait to correct me:confused3
Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Universal actually looks like its quite a bit of fun, we've only been to the Hollywood one in California and were so disappointed the last time that I hadn't been that eager to try it here but now am definitely considering it.

Too funny about the picture of everyone being soaked...I can definitely see why you wanted to sit it out.

It's too bad that rain had to get in the way of your day, but luckily you guys were still able to accomplish so much, and Bubba Gump's looks like a delicious way to end the day.

Isn't it sometimes insane how much cheaper stuff is in the states versus here, I'm glad Jeff was able to find his sunglasses there

It looks like everyone had a great time!
There was no way on earth I was getting soaked that day! It wouldn't have been so bad if it was like the regular afternoon showers...gone in 15 minutes...but this lingered all afternoon:sad2:

It is insane...Jeff couldn't believe the difference, that's why he decided to grab them....

Great update! It sounds like you guys had a lot of fun at IoA.

:lmao:Love the descriptions of Jeff on the big scary rides :lmao:

Lunch looked delish!
So much fun! I love when we're all together and my nieces bring up Jeff screaming on a ride...it's priceless, especially from the little one!:lmao:

Yay for doing Forbidden Journey! There really is nothing like it. I was a little afraid to try it because I was afraid I'd get sick (even though I don't really get motion sickness :confused3). But I am so glad I ended up doing it. Amazing!
Nothing like it is right! I loved it but was afraid too and all the signs didn't help! I think now that I know what to expect it will be better next time!
Sounds like a great day at Universal. Love the picture of the kids in the HP robes. :thumbsup2
I love that one too!
Great update! I remember doing that water ride in jean shorts and walking around with what felt like a wet diaper for the rest of the day! So uncomfortable. So funny that you told Jeff the wrong info about Dr Doom's fear fall. And the Hulk - yikes - I bet that was a surprise. :lmao:

GReat day!

I didn't want that feeling either and I knew the shorts I chose to wear that day wouldn't dry quickly! The Hulk was so fun! I do love an outside coaster!

Loved hearing about universal outside of harry potter land. That whole area is something I am not very framliar with so it is fun 2 hear about it. i have only been on 3 rides at universal that weren't a part of the harry potter land and they were the jurassic park ride and the dudley do right falls line. When i went on the dudley do right falls ride it was a really hot day so the line was another super long one. I thought the cue was very interesting and I liked it alot. i was with a huge group of people from my school (about ten of us). The whole line was really fun untill i was almost time to go on board. I knew it was a water ride but i figured I would get a more splash mountain type wet. I ended up being the only girl in my car unfortunately and i had a white shirt on that day. Can you see where this is going? I chose to sit in the back row hoping I wouldn't get as wet as i would have in the front row. When the ride got to the big drop part I ended up getting just as wet as the guy in the front row. I unfortunately didn't have a change of clothes so I ended up sweating it out in my sweatshirt I had been wearing earlier :(. Moral of the story. Do not underestimate how wet you will get on that ride.

Your dinner at bubba gumps looks like it was good! It also was super cute seeing that you neice wanted the same stuffed animal as jasmine.
Aww, I'm sure it wasn't at all funny at the time....but Jasmine tried to wear a white t shirt to AK one day on this trip and I advised if she was going to ride KRR that might not be the best choice:rolleyes1

Dinner was delish and MM is very happy with her birthday present!

Sounds like you all had a great day at IOA! Love how wet everyone got and the Harry Potter robes.
It was such a great day....I thought about a robe for Kayla but they were $100 so I spent $31 on the wand instead!;)
Great update, Queen. I am in stitches here :rotfl::rotfl: on how you describe Jeff screaming on the rides.

Despite the rain, it sounds like you had a great day. I really want to try Bubba Gump one of these days.
Oh Kathy, he was so fun to have along...he just made us laugh everyday! The rain dampened our spirits a little and then we just had to suck it up! Turned out to be ok in the end!
Great pics! Has Peg found out that you posted the soaked pics yet?
I would hate to know what Ray Bans cost in Canada because I know they are still pricey here! :cool2:
The wands look pretty cool, Lexi & Levi would love those!

She hasn't mentioned anything yet but I'm sure SW told her as she follows along my TR:lmao: They were Oakley's, could have sworn they were Ray Bans but apparently I was wrong, and they are about $100 more here...so he got quite the bargain!

The wands were really something! Lexi and Levi would love them for sure:thumbsup2

I just wanted to say hi and subscribe to your report as I'm loving every bit of it! You seem like such a great family and that you had such a fantastic time. Reading about all your adventures is really getting me excited for our upcoming August trip:goodvibes
I am so happy you popped in to say hi and to subscribe...great to have you along:cool1: How exciting that you have an August trip to look forward too...it's going to be very weird for us when August comes and goes and we stay here:lmao:
Hi Queen. I've been so far behind, 10 pages to be exact. Boma looks good. I'll have to add it to our must try lists.

Love the hats on Jasmine and Jeff. They are so funny. Ya'll always look like y'all have a great time.

Congratulations on the almost SURPRISE trip. I will head over there soon to catch up.

It sure doesn't take long to get behind, I'm still trying to catch up on some of my threads that I follow:rolleyes1

We really do have a great time....we love being together and we love our vacation time! I'm not saying it's always perfect but most of the time it's pretty darn close!

Thanks....I am enjoying her knowing about it because she is so involved in the planning this time!

I know! DD11 tells me not to shovel so she can earn some cash (I pay her $5 for doing it). She managed to do most of the walkway and front steps before she gave up in despair. I knew she wouldn't be able to manage it but I also knew my telling her so wouldn't be believed, so... I gave her a few bucks and started on the rest. The first or second shovel full I picked up went okay then... my shovel bent in half. It's not supposed to do that! Luckily my neighbor was home and I borrowed his. Bonus, he helped!

It was so heavy I couldn't believe it! Nice that your neighbor helped out:thumbsup2

I get a kick out of this picture.
1. We just watched the film with the girls so if we go horseback riding where they filmed it, they'll have a frame of reference.
2. The montage of the family doing the typical touristy picture is just great. If that doesn't scream "Theme park!!!!" I don't know what does!

I don't even know if I've ever seen the movie the whole way thru:confused3 Great plan tho!!

If at first you don't succeed...

try...

and try again!

....and I do:lmao:

Please politely yet firmly inform Jeff that he is in violation of code 238 "No continuous screaming like a little girl." and any further offences may result in the forfeiture of his man card.

I passed this along to him and he's quite mortified that I've shared his adventures with everyone.....

And look at the mile wide smile on Jasmine! Somebody looks like she just had a ton of fun!

She would have went again and again!

Took a photo of her sister,
Now she's gone and we sure miss her

:sad2:1983....you are so kind....that's the year I graduated:lmao:

I love the name 'Wossa Motta U'

For the rest of the day I kept saying to everyone in our party .....Wossa Motta U....they didn't find it funny at all after a few hours:rolleyes1

:lmao: And yet you couldn't have planned it any better! I wonder who was more shocked, you or Jeff?

Beyond a shadow of a doubt me....I felt like I had the wind knocked outta me!!:rotfl2:

:rotfl: But can you really blame them?

Nope!

You are an evil, wicked woman.

I think that's why I like you.

I know....I'm a sick sick woman.....I'm glad you like that about me:laughing:

That's funny! There's a comedian that does a routine that goes something like this (he's referring to what happens when you say grace before a meal):

Comedian takes on deep, profound voice.
"And I shall move the cosmos in such a way that life might come forth. And all the suns and all the planets will move in such a way as to be beautiful and wonderful. And the fires will rage and the seas will boil. And I shall.... What? What's that? No, no. Go ahead, enjoy your meal."

Don't know if that works in print, but the bit was funny when I saw it.

:lmao::rotfl2:

1. Good for you for at least knowing who Voldemort is.
2. I wonder if she runs out of one kind of wand, eg. Dumbledore, if another becomes his type. Or are they labeled in some way?

Thank you:woohoo: and yes, they have a little sticker at the end of each box that says who's it is!

Hmmm... "our ride back to the resort!" sounds a little ominous for some reason. Can't wait to find out! Thanks for the update! :goodvibes
Welcome:goodvibes
Queen!! One of my favorite trip reporters of all time...been such a long time since I have been on the boards!
Hey girl...so glad you're here! You are far too kind, but thank you:hug:
Happy to read all of your updates!

Your new furniture is beautiful, looks great! Hope you are enjoying it. It's always hard to part with the money but then wonderful when it's in your home and you can enjoy it for years to come.
Loving my new furniture! I still have some accessories to buy but I'm going to wait for a trip to Kohl's or Target for them!
We went to US for the first time in October and it was great, not Disney, but we really liked it. We aren't big Harry Potter fans but I thought they did an AMAZING job, wow!! I took so many pictures because it looked so real...wonderful job!!
I agree, they did an amazing job! The attention to detail in the queue for The Forbidden Journey was beyond anything we could have imagined!
Looking forward to reading more of your trip report and woohoo!! so happy to see a 'surprise' trip for you and Jasmine!! Love it!
Thanks, we are getting pretty excited....10 weeks today and we're there:hug:
I don't blame them for not wanting to sit with you on the rides. I imagine they all draw straws when your back is turned.:lmao:
Have you been talking to Peg....I think that's exactly what they do;)
Your dinner did indeed look great. Did you plan to eat there?
We were tossed up between Emeril's, Margaritaville and there....the kids thought there so we went!
Looks like a great day at Universal! I'm not much into thrill rides or wet rides soooo I'd probably end up in the WWOHP all day!! :rotfl:

I've always wanted to try Bubba Gump's though and I must say your food looked delicious... have to put that on the list. :goodvibes

Looking forward to more! :surfweb:

 Carla

Thanks Carla! I think the next time we go to IOA we will spend more time there....we really enjoyed it!

We were pleasantly surprised by how good it was and the server was very nice!

Looks like you were having a blast at Universal!! I need to get back there, it has been over 5 years :headache:

Everyone looked soaked after the Dudley Do Right ride :lmao: I think I would be miserable being that soaked but they look happy!!

That's how I felt we were starting talking about doing a day there....it had been far too long and I couldn't wait to see WWOHP~

You and me both....but they were all quite happy:goodvibes

Hi! I'm a little late but I'm joining in now! I love your trip report and can't wait to read more! :surfweb:

Glad to have you along and I'm so happy that you're enjoying the TR...working on the next update right now!

This is not the way I wanted to start my Sunday morning with Photobucket not co-operating at all:rolleyes1 When it's working it's great but when it's not, it's so frustrating! I will keep trying but it may be later in the day before I get the post up! Jasmine and I are so excited that it's going up to 28C here today...hang on let me do the math ..... that's 88F, our plan is to walk to my dad's for a visit and then walk home! It's a total of 12 kilometres so we're pretty exciting. We've done 10 now we're increasing by 2!! Wish us luck!:goodvibes

Can you believe this weather?? :cool1:

Good luck on the stroll.

I have a confession to make, it wasn't photobucket at all, it was me and my silly laptop....somehow Java wasn't loaded anymore so I couldn't upload anything! Problem fixed and ready to go.....

This fine day would take us back to the Magic Kingdom!
638-1.jpg

We didn't quite make it for the opening song on dance today but we were all getting a little weary and getting up everyday early was beginning to prove to be a challenge! The kids at the front...the crowds were next to nothing on this day, it was fantastic!
635-1.jpg

Now, with my difficulities with Photobucket this morning, these next few are out of order, but I was too frustrated to go back in and change them so just pretend they're in order....ok...thanks friends! Texting a friend a happy birthday message after getting thru bag check!
634-1.jpg

Security Check point!
633-4.jpg

Peg and I going thru ... as you can see for first thing in the morning, this place is usually mobbed!
632-3.jpg

The sign for the halloween party which we would unfortunately miss. Jasmine and I have done it a few times and just love it but Peg is a non-believer in taking her kiddies out of school so they'll probably next get to do it:rotfl2:
641-1.jpg

Me and the kids....
643-1.jpg

Peg and her family! Because of the low crowds we decided we were going to have a relaxing morning and just take what came at us.
647-1.jpg

One of the front windows of the confectionary! We decided to pop in here because at the end of the day, it's a mad house!
648-1.jpg

No one....place all to ourselves!
649-1.jpg

M & M's ... Jasmine's favorite and yes she did buy a bag to go home with her! She does love her sweets that one!
651-1.jpg

Mugs...I bought the Tinkerbell one that is four down from the top and I use it everyday! I just love it...reminds me once again why I get up and go to work everyday so I get these magical moments!
657-1.jpg

Our destination was Tomorrowland so all the kids could ride Buzz and SM...
658-1.jpg

Couldn't walk by this view without grabbing a picture of my beloved castle!
660-1.jpg

The kids wanted another picture of them in front of my beloved castle!
664-1.jpg

Buzz with no wait whatsoever...they all went and rode that and then were going to head to SM so we left them all and Peg and I ventured to........
665-1.jpg

The Peoplemover and the infamous foot shot ...:goodvibes
669-1.jpg

We had decided that we would all meet up outside of the CoP after everyone was done with the rides!
670-1.jpg

Jasmine's favorite ride....NOT! Jeff did enjoy it though and as you can see from the pictures, I actually stayed awake thru the whole thing this time! I do love this ride but it gets the best of me if it's later in the day
672-1.jpg

674-1.jpg

More of our Magic Kingdom morning in the next update!

Love the update, I absolutely love CoP! My daughter told me if there is one thing she needs to do when we're down there it has to be that!! :goodvibes

So glad to hear things are going well for you. Have a great week!! ;)

 Carla

I spy a plastic cup with a straw that I must buy!!!!

The skies look so lovely! (It helps that around here it is starting to be that kind of day!)

Wow, those crowds were low! :thumbsup2
Brad had the Mickey mug like your Tink & he loves it. We will definitely be buying another one when we go back.
You have so many great pics of this morning!

Ha. I loved CoP!!! :thumbsup2
In fact, we didn't plan to go on it but when we were getting fastpasses for another ride.... out popped some extras for "CoP" and that's why we did it!!
So glad... we all liked it!!

Debbie
P.S. Love your mug!! I have a Mary Poppins one that I drink out of every
morning!!

Can you believe this weather?? :cool1:

Good luck on the stroll.

Yesterday was so beautiful too I didn't want to go back into work after lunch! We had a great stroll....took us 50 minutes! Jas sent Jeff a text saying we were hoping to do it in under an hour and he replied with there is no way you can get there in under an hour.....silly boy!

Love the update, I absolutely love CoP! My daughter told me if there is one thing she needs to do when we're down there it has to be that!! :goodvibes

I love it too! Some of the rooms remind me of childhood!! I hope you're enjoying your week too my friend!

I spy a plastic cup with a straw that I must buy!!!!

The skies look so lovely! (It helps that around here it is starting to be that kind of day!)

Glad you spotted something to add to your list :lmao:

Friday - Monday we had 80 degree weather...its was amazing! Today it was probably in the 50's but it was just fine:woohoo:

Wow, those crowds were low! :thumbsup2
Brad had the Mickey mug like your Tink & he loves it. We will definitely be buying another one when we go back.
You have so many great pics of this morning!

I just love my Tink mug...it holds the perfect amount of coffee for me:goodvibes Thanks....looking back at the pics as I write this really does take me right back to those moments!

Ha. I loved CoP!!! :thumbsup2
In fact, we didn't plan to go on it but when we were getting fastpasses for another ride.... out popped some extras for "CoP" and that's why we did it!!

P.S. Love your mug!! I have a Mary Poppins one that I drink out of every

It was like you were meant to try it out on your trip!:thumbsup2

I contemplated purchasing your MP mug, but when I saw Tink, I just couldn't resist:love:

Aww love the start to your MK day!! :goodvibes You guys are so darn cute!!

Awww thanks hon:hug:

Not quite sure how I missed this update, but apparently I did. And it was another great one with lots of wonderful pictures of everyone.

WOW - can't believe how empty the MK was. This WAS August, right? :confused3 It really looks cool to see empty stores.

I am a fan of CoP. There's something so likeable about it. And the foot shot goes without saying. :rotfl:

I'm back, I'm back!! Sorry for the long absence.

I'm glad that you liked Forbidden Journey! It is like that the first time you go on. It's overwhelming, and then intense, and then you cringe, and you close your eyes! :lmao: Absolutely crazy.

I hadn't been on Jurassic Park in forever. And then Chris and I went on it in November, and I was like. That's it? So underwhelming at that point!

Love Bubba Gump! We're fortunate enough to have one in Chicago. Yum yum.
