JAMBO Everybody...An August 2011 TR (Completed May 13)

"Eating Chocolate Cake Is Not About Being Hungry".

:rotfl2: OMG!!!!!!!! That line is Classic! I am so using it in the future! :rotfl2:

I guess that's why Jasmine is so skinny - more power to her!

Loved the pictures and I really thought you could not being a camera on the Forbidden Journey. What would you do with it on the ride? Details please. For example - could I easily bring my phone to take pictures. I really want to ride that ride!

Great update!

Ahhhh, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter looks amazing!! Yay for going on the ride in the castle... it sounds like SO MUCH FUN! :thumbsup2

Dragon Challenge seems like a fun one as well. I want to go so badly to Universal!

Great to have you along!! Congratulations on booking Kidani...you will love the resort! There is so much to do, if your schedule permits, make sure to book some "just resort" time...it is so worth it!! Also, we love Boma...love love love for breakfast and dinner and I've heard only great things about Sanaa but have never been!

Thanks - we're so excited about staying at Kidani! I'd love to try Boma, unfortunately the rest of my family isn't so keen -they're not very adventurous, though I might be able to talk my oldest into joining me :thumbsup2

Loving your report on WWoHP as well - we're hitting there the first two days of our vacation and can't wait!

And I'm another fan of the "eating chocolate cake is not about being hungry" statement. I mean really, it's like "there's always room for ice cream!" I don't think I'll be able to pass those up....and can't wait to try Butterbeer! :goodvibes

WWOHP Looks like so much fun, I have seen many, many pictures, but everytime it still amazes me the attention to detail that they have put into it.

I love the picture of Jasmine and Jeff with the conductor...they are both so photogenic!

I can't wait to hear what you thought of the rest of IOA!

Queen, we are in car and I'm on my iPhone so hope not too many typos. While I have never read book or seen full movie, I enjoyed all your photos. I can't believe you passed up the cake. But I hear you on motion sickness... I found that out after riding Star Tours in January; no fun getting older.

I can't believe I passed on the cake either....and I had the same problem on Star Tours last time too...one ride was all I had! The rest of the crew took in a few more but I just couldn't do it:sick:

No cauldron cake or butterbeer?! You're so much stronger than me, I don't think I could even imagining passing up on those sweets. :sad2:
I know....wrong wrong wrong! Trust me, next time, I'll have a cauldron cake in one hand and a butterbeer in the other, consume them and then ride, or at least go back later in the day to have them!
I'm glad you enjoyed Dragon Challenge and Forbidden Journey (despite the motion sickness). I'm sure your pictures would've been very cool of the walkthough area, but at least you were able to take it all in.:thumbsup2 I know sometimes when I'm trying to capture everything I see, I tend to miss a thing or two.
I can't wait to go back, we really had a great morning there! I am going to try it with my camera next time!:thumbsup2

Hogsmeade just looks so cool. It seems like Universal did a fantastic job capturing the feel of the books and movies. Probably made you forget there were other parts of the parks while you were in there.

The kids all wanted to stay and continue to do the rides but MM was too small for Dragon Challenge so we decided to move to give her a chance to do some fun stuff:woohoo:

Very cool! We really need to get there soon.

It really was! Maybe next trip you could squeeze in a day!:thumbsup2

Great update!

Thanks:lmao: If you could have seen my face when I told her that, I continue to tell her that....I still have so much to do with that one;) I wish I had her willpower that's for sure!

Everyone around us had their cameras but they were all either point and shoot or iphone's! I would have hooked it around my wrist and held it in my hand but that would also mean it's one less hand to hold on with! I'm with you tho, the person working the lockers told us everything had to go in the locker so I listened:angel:

Ahhhh, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter looks amazing!! Yay for going on the ride in the castle... it sounds like SO MUCH FUN! :thumbsup2

Dragon Challenge seems like a fun one as well. I want to go so badly to Universal!

Oh it was and scary too....I kept wondering how my nieces were doing but they loved it!

I loved Dragon Challenge because it's outside and I love an outside roller coaster!

Thanks - we're so excited about staying at Kidani! I'd love to try Boma, unfortunately the rest of my family isn't so keen -they're not very adventurous, though I might be able to talk my oldest into joining me :thumbsup2

My BIL isn't very adventurous when it comes to eating and he loves Boma! They always have prime rib and some other "normal" offerings. For breakfast there is all the normal breakfast fare and for those who want a little something different, there is that too!

You are going to love it and the fact that you have 2 days is awesome...you'll get a chance to do everything:thumbsup2

Amen sista!!! I can't wait for you to try the Butterbeer and tell me what it's like!:woohoo:

I can't wait to hear what you thought of the rest of IOA!

I really wished we had more time there because as we were trying to look around and take it all in, I know we really didn't! There is so much that I forgot already! My youngest niece remembered more things about the FJ than I do...guess her eyes were open:rotfl2:

I agree with you, they are very photogenic;)

I am going to upload pictures today and hopefully before the red carpet shows begin this evening I'll have another update completed!

"The Walls have EARS"

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I can sooooo picture you using that on the kids.

If butterbeer is like rootbeer...I'd be up for some. yumm!

You are brave. You are far more daring than I. You couldn't ever talk me into going on a roller coaster of any kind.

Funny, I too noticed my tolerance for motion rides has gotten worse with age.
I used to be able to ride all kinds of stuff.

Oh my heavens... I've let this go too long again. I have no excuse other than just trying to do too many things at a time.

I loved all the pictures, of course. Especially the Kitchen Sink and the No Way Jose. I'd heard about both of these, of course, but don't remember having seen them before. OMG!!!!!! I think I may just have to nag King Charming until he takes the Eating Machines and I over there to have some of that.

And I saw the link for the new trippie. On the one hand I'm so glad you're coming back!! Hope I get to see you again!! On the other hand, I can't keep up with this trippie -- how on earth am I going to cope with 2??????? :lmao:

Love, love, love this photo!!!! And thank you for the sweet things you. I think that's the absolutely greatest thing about the online Disney community is all the great friends you make. And you and Peg are absolutely THE BEST!!!! I can't wait to see you again!!
507-1.jpg

That's too cute about MM staying with Jeff in the water. She WAS doing him a favor. The favor of her company is a huge one! Yep... another little princess in training. ;-)

Great pics of IOS! I can't wait to get to WWOHP!!

The walls have EARS, huh? Oh I can just see you tormenting the kids with this. And if MM were a bit younger I could just see her whispering to the walls. But then again, if you think about it (or maybe I just need coffee), I think the walls over at IOS are just jealous of Mickey.

Okay, I'm late and I have to get to work on time today as I have a 90 day review this afternoon. So Imma have to run.... catch you later.... hopefully not after such a long time, but we'll see how good I can be. :goodvibes

We had just arrived at our final destination :scared1:Jasmine kept telling me to stop saying that!!!

Ha! And I'd be egging you on by humming cheesy forbidding music.

This was incredible and I have to say the pictures really don't do it justice!

Which is incredible in itself. 'Cause if the pics don't do it justice... and the pics are amazing... just how much better could the real thing be???

One last pic looking up and while one is looking up, doesn't hurt to say a little prayer before entering!

You can never be too careful.

Jeff checking out the map and trying to be brave...I think you all know that is not possible for him on a scary ride!

But maybe we should be more sensitive towards him and cut him al little slack.

Nah. He's fair game, isn't he?

I can only tell you it is the most amazing ride experience I have ever had! I will not spoil it by telling you what it's like...but I did have to close my eyes a couple of times due to motion sickness and a couple of times out of sheer terror...not gonna lie to you. Jeff and Jasmine were screaming too...it was such a great ride!!!!

I'd heard a few people comment on the theming, but your the first person I've heard mention how good the actual ride is. Someday... Someday...

Well much to my surprise they had a young lady set up right outside and down from FJ but I couldn't make up my mind as to which wand to get her....I would have to think about it for a while!

So did you wind up getting one before you left?

Chocolate frogs....I thought about getting one of these for Kayla too but knew there was no way it would survive an entire day at the park!

:sad2: Chocolate doesn't melt just because it's a hot day.

Well, around me it doesn't. It doesn't have time to melt.

Cauldron Cakes....I had read on the boards how delciious these were but my stomach was still a bit queasy (ok a lot queasy) so I passed...I know on so many levels how wrong that is but I just couldn't do it

Yes. That is wrong on many, many levels.

587-1.jpg

Once we saw this sign I would whisper this in the children's ears all day....it's sport for me...I think I've told you that before LOL

:lmao: I can so see you doing that.

Then the kids ran into the conductor and what fun he was!

Oh, the poor man. Did they knock him down when they ran into him? :rolleyes1

Thanks for the chapter! :goodvibes

Wow WWoHP looks amazing! Am so gutted I didn't get to see it :(

Lol I'm surprised the snowman didn't melt in the heat!! :lmao:

Mmm that candy shop is my idea of heaven :worship:

Hi Queen! Sorry I haven't commented in a while (real-life is just a pain in the butt), but I've really enjoyed catching up. So excited to read about the plans for your "surprise" May trip, as well as more about this one! :thumbsup2 to going to IoA and WWoHP, definitely want to go there when I get my parents to bring me back to the greatest place on Earth :goodvibes Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

I Love all the pictures :) I would love to see the WWOHP if I could tear myself away from Disney

Funny, I too noticed my tolerance for motion rides has gotten worse with age.
I used to be able to ride all kinds of stuff.

I have no idea what it tastes like but I had a feeling it would be really sweet and I just wasn't up for it:eek:

You could have sat out and kept MM company:lmao:This growing older thing isn't much fun but I do prefer it to the alternative:lmao:

Oh my heavens... I've let this go too long again. I have no excuse other than just trying to do too many things at a time.
I think it's a typical mom thing, we tend to always have too much on our plates don't we!
I believe with all my heart that the Eating Machines could polish off the kitchen sink no problem at all!
And I saw the link for the new trippie. On the one hand I'm so glad you're coming back!! Hope I get to see you again!! On the other hand, I can't keep up with this trippie -- how on earth am I going to cope with 2??????? :lmao:
I sure hope you can squeeze in a visit with us....if you don't have park passes you could always meet us at the hotel or DTD...we'll figure something out for sure:thumbsup2

Love, love, love this photo!!!! And thank you for the sweet things you. I think that's the absolutely greatest thing about the online Disney community is all the great friends you make. And you and Peg are absolutely THE BEST!!!! I can't wait to see you again!!

You are so right girl! We would never have met were it not for these Boards and that was one of our best afternoon's of the trip!
That's too cute about MM staying with Jeff in the water. She WAS doing him a favor. The favor of her company is a huge one! Yep... another little princess in training. ;-)
She is definitely a princess that's for sure:goodvibes
Great pics of IOS! I can't wait to get to WWOHP!!

I think you might be right...it was a great day and I'm so glad we went and paid it a long overdue visit!
Okay, I'm late and I have to get to work on time today as I have a 90 day review this afternoon. So Imma have to run.... catch you later.... hopefully not after such a long time, but we'll see how good I can be. :goodvibes

Hope your review went well which I'm sure it did....cause you're awesome:hug:

Ha! And I'd be egging you on by humming cheesy forbidding music.

We would make a great team....not in the children's eyes I bet tho:lmao:

Which is incredible in itself. 'Cause if the pics don't do it justice... and the pics are amazing... just how much better could the real thing be???

No chance you'll get there on your next visit?

You can never be too careful.

Better safe than sorry right:rolleyes1

But maybe we should be more sensitive towards him and cut him al little slack.

Nah. He's fair game, isn't he?

Sensitive...me....never....not in my genetic makeup:rotfl2:

I'd heard a few people comment on the theming, but your the first person I've heard mention how good the actual ride is. Someday... Someday...

I wish we had gone back and rode it one more time before we left but we didn't!

So did you wind up getting one before you left?

I'll let you know in the next update:confused3

:sad2: Chocolate doesn't melt just because it's a hot day.

Well, around me it doesn't. It doesn't have time to melt.

I could have bought so many souvenirs here, but I just didn't want to carry them around all day....now I kick myself:headache:

Yes. That is wrong on many, many levels.

Pathetic,,,,I know!

:lmao: I can so see you doing that.

:lmao:

Oh, the poor man. Did they knock him down when they ran into him? :rolleyes1
That's one of my father's favorite sayings:rotfl2:
Thanks for the chapter! :goodvibes

You will....next time I'm sure you'll make it!

Yes ... me too...it was quite hot that day too:worship:I love candy shops...anytime all the time!

I know all about real life getting in the way that is for sure;) Glad you were able to pop in! I will have an update done this weekend for sure because during the week posts just aren't happening....so busy!
I Love all the pictures :) I would love to see the WWOHP if I could tear myself away from Disney

Thanks Dawn and welcome home! I know, it was so hard for us to think about taking a full day away too, but I am so happy that we did:banana:

We would make a great team....not in the children's eyes I bet tho

Here's a little secret that only Queen and I know (okay, some of the rest of you might now this too)

THE MEANING OF LIFE
It's all about embarrassing your children. Any time. All the time. If you don't get a good "Mom!" or "Daaaad!!!" or at least a roll eyes then you're not doing it right.

That and chocolate.

No chance you'll get there on your next visit?

Actually, the whole Disney trip is in doubt now.

Before you start feeling all sorry and everything, it's because DW has a conference in April and we're all going to go along so that's where some of the funds are being diverted.

Oh, sure it's in the middle of nowhere, but it'll be nice to get away.

Where? Oh, sorry. Thought I mentioned it.

Hawaii.

Absolutely! Embarrass your children but at the same time remember to stash a little cash away for future therapy sessions for them:lmao:

:woohoo:Ok....Hawaii....never been but heard it's a wonderful vacation spot:rolleyes1 That's a good reason to divert some of the funds!!

Nope. My plan is to live large and be put in a home poor. At their expense.

What are you doing up so early? I'm at work, what's your excuse?

Good Sunday morning everyone! I thought before the day starts I better get a post together. We had a bit of a blizzard on Friday so yesterday we decided to just stay put so today will be all our running around! We've had hardly any snow all winter and now we seem to be getting it all!

I left off with us leaving WWOHP!
598-1.jpg

Sign to Toon Lagoon!
599-1.jpg

Jurassic Park! We had been on this ride in 2002 but neither Jasmine or I could remember very much about it! All she remembered was that the drop seemed a lot worse than Splash Mountain....I reminded her that she was 10 so maybe it really wasn't as bad as she was remembering!

Jeff was behind hilarious once again! He was sitting between Jasmine and I and I laughed the whole ride! We really enjoyed the final drop and decided at that point we would grab the first restaurant we saw to have some lunch! All I remember is that it wasn't far from the ride and we all had burgers!
600-1.jpg

After we were fed and watered we headed out for more rides! Everyone except Geodoc and I wanted to ride Dudley Doright's so off they went and we stood on the bridge and waitied for them.
601-1.jpg

I walked over with them to see what the wait time was and it said 30 minutes...perfect, wouldn't be too long...or so we thought! I had the camera and Geodoc was the lookout for when they were coming...thought this was them, but nope!
602-1.jpg

Was sure this was them but again we were foiled! As you can see the sky had clouded over and we knew the afternoon showers would be starting at any minute!
603-1.jpg

Finally after almost 70 minutes here they were! I can't believe my picture actually turned out as good as it did because I could hear Jeff screaming before they even dropped and he continued right to about this moment.
604-1.jpg

Here they come soaked to the skin!
605-1.jpg

Peg is gonna kill me for posting this one but I couldn't resist! They were all so wet and I was so happy I had sat it out. We still had the whole afternoon ahead of us!
606-1.jpg

The kids loved this ride and said if the wait hadn't been so long they would have went again!
607-1.jpg

It was again time to move to another section of the park so I took pictures of some of the store we browsed in while we were walking!
608-1.jpg

still wandering around.....:rolleyes1
609-1.jpg

As you can see the crowds were worse than what we had seen so far at WDW but it was manageable. It was time to head for Dr Doom's Fearfall! Now I will tell you by this point it was raining pretty good so I have no pictures of this part of the park...I'm sorry:sad1: By the time we got to Dr Doom's the rain had let up so we all got on...except Geodoc and MM...she was too short for this one too...pooor kid! Ok, now, we rode this in 2002 once again and for some strange reason (I think your brain blocks out unpleasant memories) I forgot the premise of this ride. I was seated next to Jeff and SW...around the corner from us was Jasmine and Peg....Jasmine wanted to torment her auntie on the ride because apparently she remembered every detail of it. As we were getting buckled in I was telling SW that it is just like ToT...they slowly bring you to the top and drop you....WRONG!!!! I was mid sentence with Jeff when it shot us into the air....I couldn't even scream and then I thought "oh yeah, forgot about this part" poor jeff's face :lmao:he found his screaming voice no problem and from here on didn't sit with me on another ride! To this day I still don't think he believes me that I honestly didn't remember that part of the ride!

Then it was off to the Hulk where we did have a bit of a wait because it started raining again! I sat with Jeff, Jasmine and Peg was with SW...she didn't want to sit with me either! Jasmine and I kept the take off a secret on this one too and man was it worth it. The sound of Peg screaming behind me and Jeff screaming just one seat away from me....that's what makes a mama smile! We loved the ride! You see when we rode it the last time I was scared half to death...my first ever big roller coaster ride and when we got off Kevin looked at me and said "did you really think God would put you being afraid on a roller coaster before people who actually need his help"....well no, but it doesn't hurt to ask!! I had cuts on the palms of my hands from my nails digging in....that didn't happen this time!!! We loved it. By the time we got off, it was raining alot....downpour let's just say! We headed over the Seuss Landing so MM could get her ride on and we just waited outside some of the rides for the kids to tell us where they were going next! It was such a great day even though the rain didn't let up!
610.jpg

We all decided it was time to head out, our tummies were also telling us it was dinner time! We had decided earlier in the day that we would eat at one of the places on the way out so we just headed that way but not before we stopped in to make a few purchases! The kids couldn't resist trying on the robes...MM didn't want to until she saw Jasmine and Jeff doing it and then I guess it was cool so she did it!
611-2.jpg

I stopped to once again look at the wands and the lady that was manning the station was amazing. I told her I wanted one for my "niece" (my bff's daughter but I refer to her as my niece) but I didn't know which one to get. I told her she was a HP fanatic and she said they you must get her the most powerful wand of allll.......really....he who shall not be named??? She prompty scolded me and told me the most powerful wand belonged to Dumbledore....whoops...my bad!!! So I made my purchase and we headed to the other end of the store because it was raining again.
612-2.jpg

Arriving at our destination!
614-2.jpg

A sign we wouldn't see for a very long time again.....
616-2.jpg

Jasmine purchased a mineon while I was buying Kayla's wand....here they are with it...isn't it cute!
617-2.jpg

We were seated by a very lovely young lady and we were all so happy to be out of the rain!
618-2.jpg

Another shot while waiting for dinner
619-2.jpg

Jasmine's dinner which she didn't finish but Jeff did! Jeff got the same thing I did and it really didn't fill him up...which I'm sure you're all familiar with now!
622-1.jpg

My dinner...so delicious! I would eat here again in a heartbeat, we quite enjoyed it!
623.jpg

After dinner a certain little girl in our group took my hand and asked if we could go back to the store where Jasmine got her mineon because that's really what she wanted me to get her for her birthday! I asked her if she was sure and she was so off we went. Jasmine and Jeff went to the sunglass place across the way because Jeff's big purchase of the trip was going to be a pair of Ray Bans! Once we got MM her beloved Mineon we headed to find the rest of the crew! Here is a picture of Jeff in his lovely new glasses. They are so much cheaper in the states than in Canada so he couldn't pass them up...now I was just hoping he wouldn't loose them.

Up next....our ride back to the resort!
