JAMBO Everybody...An August 2011 TR (Completed May 13)

Ya know, I only follow three TRs... and they're all posting at the same time! :lmao: So if it takes me a bit before I comment, that's why! :)

Oh gee, sorry about that, we're not very accomodating are we;)

Tell me about it!!! :sad2: Life should just be put in a corner with a time out so more important things (like replying to TR posts) can be taken care of.

Thank you...glad I'm not the only one that feels that way:woohoo:

Oh, poor Geodoc. Having to go to a city that's on my bucket list. Really, I feel soooo bad for him. Being forced to see Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, cable cars, Chinatown.... oh, the horror. :rolleyes1

I know...he sent Peg a text asking if Jas and I wanted anything from there and I replied with "anything from the Louis Vuitton store"....apparently, he took a picture of the store for me...clearly I need to be more specific next time!

DD14 asked me a couple of days ago which water park we should go to (they haven't been to either). I'm going to put a poll up, but which would you pick for first timers? (I haven't been to BB yet, myself, so can't compare)

I asked Jasmine this question and she said she actually liked BB better, she loved the whole ski lift thing and a bunch of other stuff...she thinks the girls would prefer BB.....there you go, message delivered:rolleyes:

Bad Queen! Bad! You know we all live vicariously through your words and pictures!

I know...I was far too laid back on this trip and forgot one very important thing....the water camera...it's on my list for next time....

Okay, you're forgiven... as long as you put 'em up here!

I'll call Peg tonight....if she doesn't come thru, I'll grab the CD this weekend and post myself on Sunday morning!

Oh, absolutely. Don't want to upset the person fronting the DVC accommodations now do we? :rolleyes1

No....we never want to offend the people who provide the free lodging that's for sure!:flower3:

:lmao: Was Jasmine shocked or amused?

It was more of the disgusted/pathetic/I'm-not-really-sure-what-you-were-thinking-Mother look...you'd swear that I do it every weekend (which I don't, I can assure you):lmao:

That plate makes me laugh. It's so like my DW's. She's a pretty fussy eater, so while I enjoyed Boma, she basically just had mac 'n cheese and zebra domes. Oh wait! Wait!

Zebra domes..... mmmmmm....

Zeeeeebbbbrrraaaa domes.....

<sigh>

Okay, I'm all right now.... no. Not quite. I want a zebra dome, stat. But I'll try to contain myself for now.

Jasmine would love having your wife along at a meal, it would deflect all the attention away from her. Geodoc hates veggies so him and Jas usually team up together.

Can you believe I didn't have one zebra dome this trip:scared1:wrong I know...I can't believe it myself:rolleyes1

Two things.
1. That cake looks amazing!
2. MM does look like an angel. But then again, that was the impression she left with me when I met her. :cutie:

She is quite the little cutie that's for sure!
Thanks for the update! :goodvibes

Your welcome....I'll have another up in a couple of days!

Hi Queen ! Are you all planning a trip next August?

I just booked Aug.20-Sept 3. WDW and a 4 day cruise on the Dream! :woohoo:

Maybe our times will cross? ;)

Can you believe for the first time since 2006 we won't be going in August...or any month next year:sad1: Jasmine is going to University in September so there will be no extra money for a trip:sad1: If we were going, those would be our exact dates...that really bums me out because we could have met up:confused3

Okay, new reader here and I'm all caught up! Love your TR! We're staying at AKL for the first time from Nov 29-Dec 9 and I'm SUPER excited!! It's a surprise to dh, ds10, and dd5...they think we're staying at POFQ, lol. It should be an awesome upgrade from Pop last Christmas.

Love all the pics and I'm seriously starving now after the yummy looking food from Boma. What do you think of the other restaurants at AKL? We plan on eating at Mara some mornings, and have 1 Boma and 1 Jiko reservation for dinner. Is it wrong to be so excited by the food??? :lmao:

Too bad you didn't enjoy the Dessert Party :( I was waiting for 2 months to book that, and finally did for Dec 8th. I'm hoping it will be a fun way to end our last night.

I'm also super jealous of all the pool time you guys got!! It was so cold last December that we wore our toasty Minnesota winter coats 8 of the 10 days. One day almost hit 80, and of course I forgot to pack my daughter's swim suit, so off to the gift store I went to buy a $40 princess one for about 2 hours of swimming...so hoping it isn't like that again. We deserve to swim on vacation too!!!:goodvibes

Welcome, great to have you along! You definitely should be SUPER excited...most wonderful resort IMO! ... and a surprise to boot! I love a good surprise...and you will let us know how all that goes right?

Boma is my absolute favorite restaurant...have never been to Jiko, but have heard wonderful things about it, and we only ate at Mara a couple of times and thought it was very good! No, it is never wrong to be excited about food or Grey Goose Slushies:rotfl2:

Jasmine wants you to know that she enjoyed the party and is sure you will too. She absolutely believes we just hit a bad evening and I will agree with her! I think it's going to be a wonderful way to spend your last night!:cool1:

We went in Jan/Feb 2010 and we never got to the pool area once, it was freezing! I wish we had brought our toasty Canadian winter clothes with us, but instead, we just bought some there:lmao: I will keep my fingers and toes crosses that the weather will be better for you this year:worship:

Is it too late to join along? :goodvibes I'm loving this report so far!

Never ever too late to join....couldn't be happier to have you along:woohoo: Glad your enjoying...I will have another update up tomorrow:goodvibes

Ruh roh... for some reason I didn't get notified that there's new stuff on this thread. So now I'm behind again. At least that's the excuse I'm gonna give for real life getting in the way. Oh yeah! I totally forgot about owing you hushpuppies. Okay, definitely will have to make them next time... please remind me. You know I have no memory cells left after so many years of drinking them all away plus the two overgrown rugrats that live here and take great delight in driving me absolutely bonkers.

If I recall our first stop was by the lake and you apologized for not covering my back..."cause you have to assume there is a gator in every pond!!!!" and sure enough there was!! We need to geocache in Celebration again!!

We definitely should! And yep... every body of water in Fla bigger'n a bathtub you have to assume there's a gator. But I was so entranced by the hunt that I totally let you down. I can just see the headline now... "Idiot Florida Woman Allows Gator To Snack on Fine Canadian Tourist".

Okay, from this point forward the multi-quoting is not working right for me. I figure it's the DIS-gods' way of telling me that I should get my butt on here more often. So hopefully the comments I make actually make sense and are clear what they refer too. I hope. I've only had one cup of coffee and, well, me being me, there's no telling at all if it's gonna make any sense at all. But, with that said.... keep your arms and legs inside the post and let's go!

At Sci-Fi: SW is one smart little girl! Looks like MM is entranced by the trailers. I remember drive-ins too. I wonder why more of them haven't come back. There's one about an hour away from here and I swear I'm gonna take the kids one day. I keep saying that and time keeps passing and I wonder if I'll actually get to it before they move out (which EM#1 is ready to do now... hates the rules of this house and wants to be on his own... guess that's how it's supposed to be huh?)

OMG!!! BLT soup? Definitely going to have to give that a try. Sounds absolutely yummy!

At the pool: Closer to the bar is ALWAYS a good thing.

Great pic of the kids with the castle! And ooooh, those desserts look so yummy.

I don't think it's weird to miss being in the throngs of people. There's something about being in a crowd that changes an experience. I guess that's why I'm wanting to go to a concert when I know good and well I can save the ticket price, buy a couple of albums, turn 'em on loud and enjoy the music and the monetary savings. But don't want to do it becuase there's something different about being in a crowd.

Re mannerless people (Wishes Dessert Party): When my kids were little and we'd run across someone with no manners instead of telling them Dad's first rule of life ("Some people are ____" (fill in your fave derogatory term as his term is not printable on a family board)) I'd tell them that some parents just don't love their children enough to ensure that they're well-mannered. I guess it must have taken or something becuase now when they respond "yes" and I say "yes, what", they give me the proper "yes ma'am" without even an attitude. Maybe they know it means I still love them. At least that's my hope -- these teenaged years have been a hoot. ;-)

Commando touring not - driving Peg crazy: That's an even extra added benefit. So lemme see if I got this right... you get to sit by the pool in the beautiful Florida sunshine, watch the kids play in the pool, relax and drink your pina colada and the whole time you're doing that you're driving Peg crazy? Wow! Sounds like an absolutely winning game plan to me!!!!! :cool1:

I might have considered reporting the CM. I know everyone has a bad day and everything, but dang! that kind of attitude at WDW? Ugh!

Geodoc - did you get to visit the museum? I'd love to go there. Of course, I don't see myself in SF anytime soon.

Lazy river!!!! You and me both. Forget all the thrill stuff, just give me a float, some water, some sunshine and an hour or five to enjoy it. :woohoo:

Your strong drink at the pool: :rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl: It's about time she sees you "unable to get up". LOL I guess the only answer here is for you to build up your immunities. So I guess you'd better start drinking more at home, huh? Believe me... it works!!!! But there's a downside. Given your current "tolerance" (and based on your own report of not being able to stand up after one drink I do use that term loosely :rolleyes1), you can get ripped and not be able to stand up on one drink. It might take me 2 or 3 minimum no matter how strong they are. And at Disney's drink prices, I definitely think you've got the better end of that bargain!

Love the pic of MM with the cake! And look at those cute earrings! Oh... please tell that child to stop growing up so fast. She's pushing all us old aladies ahead of her!

Visit with DeclansDad and family: Wonder why they close the pool bar? What time was it?

Geodoc asks if you want something from SF, you say anything at all from the LV store and he takes pictures???????? Dang!!!!! I say it's Peg's fault. Obviously she hasn't finished training that man. :rotfl2:

Okay... I think I'm caught up again. Whew! Can't get behind on a QoaT TR! They're just waaaaaaaaayyyyy too much fun!!!!:banana:

Hi Queen

Love the updates. I have never been to a water park. Can't get myself to put on a bathing suit. :rolleyes1 Looks like everyone had a great time.

We love BOMA too. Joe is still waiting for them to bring back the coconut rice. He loves the stuff. Me, well, I get a plate filled with zebra domes. :lmao:

Aren't DISmeets fun? I just love my DIS friends.

It seems most of my friends are finding that real life is interrupting our time here on the Boards...hey, it happens, watcha gonna do? Oh....I'll remind you, if I remember, that would be after a day of shopping at the outlet malls, who knows what kinda shape either of us would be in!

I remember thinking once I turned 18 that I could come and go and do whatever I pleased .... well, I guess you all know that didn't happen in my parents house. They were very strict, even into my 20's (Peg graduated from nursing and had to move to get work in that field believe it or not) but I guess I realized it was just cause they loved me!
OMG!!! BLT soup? Definitely going to have to give that a try. Sounds absolutely yummy!
:cloud9:
At the pool: Closer to the bar is ALWAYS a good thing.
Agreed, only ever had one drink, but I did love the location!

They were delicious!

So true....so true

Love the pic of MM with the cake! And look at those cute earrings! Oh... please tell that child to stop growing up so fast. She's pushing all us old aladies ahead of her!
She is an earring-aholic that one! She loves going into all the store to check them out! She dragged her grandpa around on "their" day (my dad spends a day with each of the girls, just the two of them for their birthdays, shopping, lunch, more shopping) but when he asked her if she found anything she said no, she was just looking....the kid cracks me up!
Visit with DeclansDad and family: Wonder why they close the pool bar? What time was it?
Good question....might have been just past nine, but couldn't tell you for sure
Geodoc asks if you want something from SF, you say anything at all from the LV store and he takes pictures???????? Dang!!!!! I say it's Peg's fault. Obviously she hasn't finished training that man. :rotfl2:
Agreed, still a lot of work to do there...maybe by his next conference!
Okay... I think I'm caught up again. Whew! Can't get behind on a QoaT TR! They're just waaaaaaaaayyyyy too much fun!!!!:banana:

Hi Sophia!

One of these trips when we're there together again, we'll do a waterpark! It'll be so much fun...we'll just have a couple of those pina colada's and we won't care what we look like in a bathing suit...and hopefully, we won't drown!

I loved the coconut rice too! I never had one this trip Sophia, isn't that terrible...not one!

DISmeets are the best!! I love my DIS friends too, they are like no other people I know and that's what makes them so special:hug:

Good morning DIS-friends! Hoping everyone is enjoying their weekend! So far our has been pretty good! Today is a jam packed Sunday, so I thought I had better get up, get pictures loaded and get an update done!

This brings us to our first full Epcot day and I couldn't have been happier! I love spending a day here, especially once WS opens at 11am, that's the only place I want to be, so we have to get our ride on in the morning!

I know Jasmine, Jeff and I travelled to Epcot alone on this morning, but for the life of me I can't remember why?
216-3.jpg

Another humid filled Florida morning and this kids waiting patiently at the bus stop! Once again, I'm sure we didn't even wait 2 minutes and it seemed a bus came...we had great bus mojo this trip!
217-2.jpg

When we arrived and Jeff saw the fountain, he insisted they make a wish into the fountain, then he asked Jasmine what she for and she said I can't tell you or it won't come true! They bickered back and forth a bit and I was laughing at them but Jasmine wouldn't tell him what she wished for except to say to him "well right now, I'm wishing you'd stop talking" Wonder where she gets that from:confused3
219-2.jpg

Wishes completed we headed into the line for SE, it was constantly moving but I managed to grab a couple of pictures along the way!
220-2.jpg

Almost there! This is still one of my favorite rides at Epcot! I still miss Jeremy Irons narrating, but I'm getting used to Judy Dench!
222-2.jpg

Another randon picture from the line...crowds were not bad on this day at all!
223-3.jpg

Jeff and Jasmine rode together and I was behind them! I had to grab their pictures on the big screen before they disappeared back to Winnipeg!
226-2.jpg

Right before we had boarded, Jasmine received a text from Geodoc saying they had just arrived at the park. Jasmine told them what we were doing so they were going to head over and ride SE as well. We waited at the exit for them which took all of 10 minutes maybe? Then we all headed out as one big happy family again! Heading to Test Track baby!!!
227-1.jpg

The wait time was 45 minutes so we decided to FP it and head to MS
229-1.jpg

Everyone but Peg (she's taking the picture) before we ride! At this point, Jeff and SW decide they are going to ride Orange and the rest of us are going to ride green, Peg and Geodoc together, Jasmine, MM, and me together!
230-2.jpg

Anticipation growing as we walk to board...I had already told Jeff that if he was feeling sick afterwards that he was on his own, I had waiting a year to get to this park again and I wasn't about to miss my WS time! Selfish? maybe a little! Jasmine told him pretty much the same thing:rotfl2:
231-2.jpg

Green team all the way!
232-1.jpg

Random picture from the line!
233-2.jpg

Set and ready to ride...all we need now is a ship!
234-3.jpg

Jasmine and MM waiting for instructions
236-3.jpg

Looks like it's Dock #7 for us and no single riders so would just be the 3 of us!
239-1.jpg

Had to grab a quick shot of the girls before the doors closed! Don't they look great for their Mission to Mars!
240-2.jpg

Instrument panel!
242-3.jpg

We had to wait a bit for Jeff and SW so we browsed thru the gift shop! MM fell in love with a necklace so of course I had to buy it for her! Before long, SW and Jeff were back from their mission and Jeff felt great....here's proof!
243-3.jpg

After our very successful missions, we decided on Universe of Energy! Who doesn't love Ellen, throw in some dinosaurs and Bill Nye the Science Guy and hey, you got your self a party!! I, on the other hand, call it my "nap in the middle of the day" ride!
244-3.jpg

You can see again how the crowd level was on this day!
245-2.jpg

The family walking into the ride! I was looking for the comfort of air conditioning, it was a hot one!
246-2.jpg

It was now close to 11am and it was time to head to WS. Jeff wanted a picture with these trees because at first he didn't believe they were real! Love all the different foliage we see in Florida!
247-3.jpg

Hmmmm, where do you think we headed first????

I haven't been on M:S in years. :confused3

I love Epcot. It is quickly becoming my favorite park. I could spend DAYS there.........easily!

I hope that one day our trips will cross again. I missed you guys this year. :sad2:

Thanks hon, so happy you're here:hug:
I may have figured it out! It appears that anything you type inside my quote doesn't appear when I quote you. So it's not me! :woohoo:

(that's my story and I'm sticking to it :rotfl2:)

And the hushpuppies ain't nothing to make. Definitely doable after shopping! :cool1:

This brings us to our first full Epcot day and I couldn't have been happier! I love spending a day here, especially once WS opens at 11am, that's the only place I want to be, so we have to get our ride on in the morning!

Oh me too!!!! WS is my absolute favorite place in the world to be! I love heading over to France and sitting down to a bowl of soup and a glass of wine and just watching the people. It's even more fun if Serveur Amusant is playing and then I can watch people's reactions to them.

I know Jasmine, Jeff and I travelled to Epcot alone on this morning, but for the life of me I can't remember why?
Probably 'cause Peg is tired of your shenanigans, the little ingrate! :rotfl2:

Almost there! This is still one of my favorite rides at Epcot! I still miss Jeremy Irons narrating, but I'm getting used to Judy Dench!

I like her narration and I like how they changed the theme of the attraction without changing the major scenes, but I do terribly miss the vignettes at the end. The infinite dots of light effect, while cool enough, just doesn't do it for me.

Are you kidding?!?!?! The kid that puts away 7 plates of food gonna get sick? Yeah, right!

I have to agree in that I sure love Epcot! It's amazing! :thumbsup2

Lol love the interaction between Jasmine and Jeff at the wishing fountain

Wow at Jeff and SW riding the orange side of MS. I may be wrong but am going to guess you headed to Mexico.

Great update, Queen. I love Epcot too...it's getting close to overtaking MK in my eyes. It's funny that you miss Jeremy Irons on Spaceship Earth...I miss Walter Cronkite, the original.

The kids look to be having a blast. And doesn't Jeff know that you don't tell your wishes. :confused3

Is it because your favorite colour is grey? And your favorite animals are geese? And your favorite state of liquid is semi-frozen? No connection. Just random questions... :rolleyes1

Another humid filled Florida morning and this kids waiting patiently at the bus stop! Once again, I'm sure we didn't even wait 2 minutes and it seemed a bus came...we had great bus mojo this trip!

Ya gotta love when the Disney bus gods smile on you. I've heard people complain about waiting 10 minutes for a bus. Guess they're not from the Peg where it can take over an hour to get anywhere!

They bickered back and forth a bit and I was laughing at them but Jasmine wouldn't tell him what she wished for except to say to him "well right now, I'm wishing you'd stop talking"

:lmao: That's hysterical!

Wonder where she gets that from:confused3

Our next Dis meet, we need to chat more! :rotfl:

I had already told Jeff that if he was feeling sick afterwards that he was on his own, I had waiting a year to get to this park again and I wasn't about to miss my WS time! Selfish? maybe a little!

Hey! Nobody infringes on Queen's Grey Goose Slushie time!

Had to grab a quick shot of the girls before the doors closed! Don't they look great for their Mission to Mars!

My goodness. So young to be flying off into space. Such brave young girls!

After our very successful missions, we decided on Universe of Energy! Who doesn't love Ellen, throw in some dinosaurs and Bill Nye the Science Guy and hey, you got your self a party!! I, on the other hand, call it my "nap in the middle of the day" ride!

Haven't seen it in years. Last time was pre-Ellen. I haven't been able to justify the time committment.

Jeff wanted a picture with these trees because at first he didn't believe they were real!

I wonder if the locals shake their collective heads every time a Canuck points at a palm tree in wonder. I know I did it the first time I saw one.

Hmmmm, where do you think we headed first????

Well... Since it's the closest and margarita's are served there, I'm gonna have to go with Mexico. ;)
Thanks for the update! :goodvibes

Cool pictures from inside Mission Space. I am still too afraid to try riding it...:rolleyes1

Nah... we just smile inwardly and thank you for your visit and the fact that we don't have to pay income taxes. :worship:

That was a good idea, telling Jeff that if he felt sick after riding M:S, that you were just going to leave him behind and tour WS. :lmao: I would do the same thing.

Hilarious that Jeff thought the tree was fake. :rotfl: I could see that. You're right, there's a lot of foliage in Florida that we don't see on a normal basis.

Hmmmm....I don't know where you're going to visit first. I'm going to say Mexico. For some reason, that's the direction I always go. ;)

I enjoyed the MS pics since I am too chicken to ride either version.

The low crowd levels in August are so great, aren't they? It almost makes up for the awful heat
